  1. I disagree with this, mostly because we don't even know if we will still be in the playoff picture by the time we play the Pats. But if we are I think the games against the Dolphins loom larger especially since we play them in Miami in the final game of the season. And as of right now I see the Dolphins finishing 11-5 or 12-4 so we might catch a break playing them the 2nd time if they are resting most of their starters with a playoff spot already clinched. But again, let's see what happens before then because there are so many tough matchups upcoming starting with the Raiders this week. And considering we also play the Chargers, Chiefs and Saints before we touch the Dolphins and Pats that's why i'd tap the breaks just a bit.
  2. I'm not a Whaley fan but he does deserve some credit because Beane was not here to make these picks and all the legwork was done by Whaley and his scouts. However I do believe McD had the final say on each pick regardless of the input given to him by Whaley.
  3. This game certainly looms L.A.R.G.E. for a number of reasons, but I believe this very well may be the biggest game in Buffalo during the drought. A win and the bills move into a much more commanding position at 5-2. A loss and they drop to 4-3 and lose a tie breaker to the Raiders (who would move to .500 at 4-4) and also to 3rd place in the AFC East. Bills have started 4-2 several times in recent years (including just last year under the Ryan brothers) and have never finished better than 7-9 any of those years. And yes the Raiders may be 3-4 so some may question this being a 'big game', but you get the sense they are primed for a run and now closer to the upstart team that made the playoffs last year. So much to ponder, but there are definitely concerns with this matchup particularly the current injury situation with the Bills and their defense which has turned into a sieve in recent week similar to Rex's defense.
  4. I've said all along that Matt Moore is a better option and Cutlers injury is likely going to be a blessing in disguise for a dolphins team already with a head of steam riding a 3 game winning streak. This Dolphins team reminds me a lot of the 1998 Jets, started 0-2 and finished the season 12-4 en route to an AFC Championship game loss to the eventual world champion Broncos. Gase is a lot like Bill Parcells too with this coaching style and has created a very gritty team down in Miami.
  5. Nice to see this regime evaluated Clay quickly and not going to keep him around just because of the Panthers connection. Was worried he would be a pet project wasting a roster spot for multiple years like so many HC/GM's tend to do with certain players. As for claiming another DB, this address the concerns of not carrying more than 4 on the active roster but also may be an indication that Gaines injury latest set back isn't good and might miss a game again.
  6. PFF had both Glenn and Mills graded out very high. Keep in mind this was against the Bucs defense though which is among the worst in the league in many categories including QB pressure and sacks.
  7. I think as of today I would pick the Pats, Steelers, Chiefs as division winners. The AFC South is truly murky and will likely come down to the final few weeks in terms of the division being won but I would pick the Jags today if I had to because of their defense and running game. Not sure they send a WC though because the division winner might be won with a 9-7 type of record. I think in the AFCE obviously Miami and Bills are in the thick of the WC chase and current leaders if the season ended today. Don't believe any team out of the AFCN makes the WC because both the Bengals and Ravens look like 8-8 teams best case scenario. In the west we already own the tiebreaker over the Broncos with games left against the other teams looming large including the Raiders this week. If the Bills do win this game they may control their own destiny for a WC even with a loss against KC and possibly SD who still has an uphill battle after starting 0-4.
  8. I was wondering why Jones wasn't getting any looks in the offense, especially at RB. Dennison showed a lot of interesting formations yesterday that should give the Raiders and other teams a lot to think about and kudo to opening up the playbook so to speak.
  9. Would surprise me, this team is all in on Taylor and obviously we aren't making a blockbuster trade for a big time WR during the season. So as far as dumpster diving goes this team may have hit the jackpot with Thompson.
  10. Zo is putting in work! He might not end up with the same sack numbers from last year but PFF has him graded out as a top run defender and edge rusher:
  11. This brought a tear to my eye. If anything, this team should try and make the playoffs for Kyle Williams because he deserves to play in a postseason game before his great Bills career comes to a close.
  12. Jordan Mills also graded out well yesterday, perhaps his best game of the season. Apparently the 'process' is working with this oline after all. Matchup with Khalil Mack this week looms LARGE....
  13. Not sure about trades but there are still some 'name' FA's out on the market including Revis and Sam Shields (former teamate of Hyde in GB). At this point both are probably semi retired our waiting for a big payday from a desperate team.
  14. Obviously those two losses were early in the season, they have won three straight since and seem to have figured out their offense which was piss poor the first few weeks. Their defense has been great since day one and holding firm in the top 10 unlike our which is trending in the wrong direction unfortunately (we are currently 21st overall in yards allowed). Like I said, they remind me of the Parcells Jets teams like the one that started 0-2 in 98' and went on to finish 12-4 and make the AFC Championship. A very sound team across the board. Not saying the Bills can't beat them because they can but their defense, coaching and rushing offense is definitely ahead of the Bills, at least for the time being. One or both of the wildcards may very well be decided in December when the Bills and Dolphins go at it twice.
  15. Sounds like good news on the injury front if both Poyer and Gaines are 'day to day' vs 'week to week'. Still not sure either will play this week though but the news could have been much worse.
  16. Impressive numbers for Taylor, he's among the league leaders when under pressure so far this year: L.A.R.G.E.
  17. At this point we need to bench Jones for Thompson, at least for starting purposes. Move him to slot and see if he can make some plays there. Also why not run some bubble screens and safe short passes to him to get him some confidence?
  18. Opposing coaches have enough film now to know how to slow down the pass rush (i.e. quick passes). Plus Frazier and McD insist on running a lot vanilla looks with little to no blitzing relying on the front four to generate pressure. Also don't be surprised if more teams take a page out of the Bucs playbook and run the no huddle more against us, seems like we struggled big time with it yesterday especially in the 2nd half when the Bucs started scoring TD's instead of FG's.
  19. Just stating the obvious, I'm happy with where this team is at but there are serious concerns with this defense right now and you get the sense they were truly getting by with a lot of smoke and mirrors early in the season until coaches had enough film and figured out where and how to attack them. We have tumbled all the way down to 21st in the NFL in total yards allowed through 6 weeks and certainly are trending in the wrong direction.
  20. A true murderers row on deck, even McCown has played great in recent weeks for the Jets and it putting up a lot of yards. If the Bills are for real we'll find out soon enough.
  21. Even though deep down I still feel that Peterman is the better option both in the short and long term, Taylor is the obviously still the guy and his 4th quarter play yesterday was L.A.R.G.E. Will be interesting to see what happens with him and Deonte Thompson going forward. Don't sleep on Logan Thomas emerging as a weapon for this offense either.
  22. Unless Thompson is an anomaly, the big question going forward is will this coaching staff insist on keeping Zay Jones in the starting lineup going forward? Or perhaps move him to the slot where he is probably more of a natural fit anyway.
  23. I think at this point it's a pipe dream to assume Dareus is going to be traded. Simply not feasible unless he redoes his contract and another team helps facilitate it. So like any bad marriage where a divorce is inevitable, this regime and Dareus need to make things work for the time being for the sake of the rest of the team.
  24. That's the silver lining in this, Bucs are now #2 overall in terms of total offense. So not were lit up by a garbage team and QB. But the Bengals are still near the bottom of the NFL and they had the same type of game basically and I don't believe they are winning many games this year.
  25. Yes and for the 2nd straight game it was a close down to the wire finish. And quite frankly the only difference between this game and the Bengals was being at home or we probably lose. I still maintain that if you take away the turnovers this is a very poor defense and the rankings are starting to show as we are now 21st overall in terms of yards allowed. At some point a game is going to come where the defense doesn't get turnovers and we give up a ton of big plays and points. And when it happens it will be a very lopsided loss for this team.
