  1. Pundits going crazy on twitter saying Beane fleeced the Panthers with this move.
  2. Bump! I think I have a mancrush on Brandon Beane for doing the right thing and making a POWER MOVE to win now. Really excited about the rest of the season now.
  3. The Pats have won 5 championships since 2001 and played in 2 other SB's during that time. What exactly is your definition of sustainable because I'd do a backflip over Niagra Falls for just one Lombardi trophy. Also I still think that folks are in for a surprise if they think this year's Pats team isn't good enough to win the division, make the SB, win a championship, etc. Remember as the calender flips to November and especially December they simply don't lose games.
  4. They didn't fluke anything, how can you not give credit to a team that started 1-4 and was dead in the water and went on one of the more amazing runs in NFL history last year to finish 10-6 and make the playoffs? Look I hate the Dolphins as much as the next Bills fan but what they have done the last year and half is truly remarkable especially given the sad state their own franchise was in. Let's put it this way, a contact of mine from my days working in the Pac 10 (Now Pac 12) called me up recently because he's been working down in Florida and close to the situation in Miami. I'm paraphrasing here but basically he said "Savior (not my real name obviously) what Tannebaum and Gase are doing with the Dolphins is truly remarkable, they have changed the entire culture and bring a new age thinking to the NFL that rivals what established forward thinking franchises like the Pats and Steelers have done. In other words don't be surprised if this is next NFL dynasty in the making." This is also why I picked the Dolphins to go 12-4 this year and be a dark horse contender in the AFC. Not sure they are catching the Pats but today they hit the reset button on a season that wasn't necessarily going terrible to begin with at 4-3 with a top 10 defense outpacing many other units around the league with key metrics. Also they have reinforcements on the way with key players coming back from injury/suspension: Devante Parker, Ted Larson and TJ McDonald. It's just too bad the Bills didn't catch the Dolphins and Pats early in the season because I hate how we have to play four games against them in the 2nd half of the season and you better believe they will be playing their best football of the season in December. The question remains, will the Bills also be at that level then?
  5. I'm sure that will happen. Again it's not about trading our picks in the top 3 rounds. I want to keep those too, it's about making some marginal moves with 4th/5th/6th/7th round picks than can help the team this season.
  6. The AFC East is locked and loaded. But we'll be in great shape with this regime if they can make the right strategic moves to keep pace with the brilliant minds in Mia and NE. So far so good though.
  7. Like McD himself said, it's a great problem to have. I'm not bashing Humber by any means, he's a great field good story for the team similar to Zo Alexander (who is still graded out as a top pass rusher by PFF despite not having the gaudy sack numbers). But Milano made two game changing plays against the Raiders and is playing with some serious momentum right now and deserves playing time regardless. Perhaps the best solution is to keep him in on passing downs.
  8. Some of these guys will be back though and with the cap space we have we'll have room for at least a few outside FA's. I just don't see the point of trying to build exclusively through the draft especially with so many picks next year but obviously Beane is determined to make his mark with his first official draft as Bills GM.
  9. We don't know if Seattle made the same offer to the Bills but if they did can't imagine we would have said no. Duane Brown is a good LT but think the Texans got the better end of the deal.
  10. Milano has outplayed Humber (who wasn't terrible). And even if they were equal on the field you go with the rookie over the 30 year old veteran.
  11. Agreed, it would be a terrible move for McD to do this especially if it's for the sake of 'keeping his word'. Nothing against Humber, he's a great guy to have but Milano's upside is ridiculous compared to Humber being a finished product at this stage of his career.
  12. They've built a hell of a team down in Miami and had a quick turnaround last year similar to hopefully what the Bills are in the process of doing with McD/Beane.
  13. I'm all for having as many picks as possible, but obviously the Bills aren't in a full blown rebuild like most expected entering next years draft so it's not feasible for them to carry 10+ picks into next years draft because they'd essentially be wasting some of the picks on guys who won't make the final roster anyway even if you consider turnover and minimal FA additions before the draft.
  14. We have tons of picks in next years draft, and yes this roster still has a lot of holes and depth to fill but no way we have room for all these players not even factoring in FA additions before next years drafts. My point is why not give up a few mid/late round picks on players that can help us TODAY. Not saying we should burn our 1st and 2nd rounders by any means unless it's for a true game changing player. It's simply foolish and ego driven by this regime if they really think they are good enough to make a serious playoff push with the roster as is. 'The Process' certainly can involve going for it this season because you never know what's going to happen year to year in this crazy league.
  15. I'll be disappointed if we don't make any moves. I get Beane and McD fixating on 'the process' but this team has a real chance to make a run and can't ignore the glaring holes and lack of depth that could come back and haunt us against a brutal 2nd half slate including 4 games against the Pats/Fish that could essentially determine the division, WC and entire conference seeding.
  16. Gase and Tannenbaum one step ahead of everybody else and taking a page out of the Patriot playbook with this move.
  17. 4D chess and misdirection by Beane, at least I hope so. Still hearing whispers though that something might be going down. Stay tuned....
  18. We are still giving up a lot of yards though especially in recent weeks. And we were fairly stout last year against the run until the first Miami game when Ajayi went off. Regardless it's very important we don't take the Dolphins lightly. I remember last year on the now defunct BBMB board there were posters who claimed that Miami would be 'two easy wins' and we all know how that worked out. In fact pretty sure some of those same posters who are now frequently this forum are claiming the same thing this year. Bottom line every division game this year looms LARGE even Thur against the Jets (who swept us last year too).
  19. He's a one year wonder and Gase is moving on to the next man up in Kenyon Drake who is a very dynamic prospect.
  20. They are dumping malcontents and lockerroom cancers just like we did with Watkins and Dareus. And while I'm sure many of their fans are pissed just like ours were with the aforementioned moves, the Dolphins are sitting at 4-3 with a very winnable game this week against the Raiders on deck. I just don't see them fading away especially with a top 10 defense.
  21. I've never been a huge Cutler fan but the Dolphins are 4-2 with him starting this year and he's shown he can still make plays when needed like the big comeback in Atlanta. But the Dolphins are similar to the Bills anyway in that they win with strategic coaching, sound defense, ST and efficient offense which is what got them to the playoffs last year and will be the likely reason they get back this season as well.
  22. I hear you but he's almost 28 years old and NFL GM's value top draft picks vs veterans approaching 30 especially at positions like WR. I just don't see Beane or any team out there willing to give up what the Colts probably want for him.
  23. John I'm certainly concerned about the moves the pats and dolphins are making right now and I'm hearing whispers that they are done just yet with the trade deadline hours away. Meanwhile the silence in Orchard Park is deafening so hoping Beane is about to make some strategic moves to counter what our division foes are doing.
  24. It's easy to see on the surface how this is a perceived bad move for Miami but it's important to consider the following: 1) Word out of Miami is Gase loves Kenyan Drake taking over as the primary RB. Personally I had high grades on him coming out of Alabama and folks in the scouting world I spoke with share similar sentiments. Drake has excellent straight-line speed, and has a good burst to get to the edge on outside runs. He's a true finesse running that can be a weapon in the passing game as well so I can see why Gase made this move. 2) This is a strategic move similar to what Gase did last year to jump start a 1-4 team. Remember the Dolphins were probably off to a worse start offensively than this year and made the call to abandon his running back rotation and hand the job over to Jay Ajayi following a loss against the Titans that dropped them to 1-4. Enter Ajayi and he ran for 204 yards in a win over the Steelers the week after and the offense was significantly better the rest of the way including the following week against the Bills which sent our season into a tailspin as the Dolphins went on to win 9 of 11. Like Belichik and other great coaches around the league Gase is playing 4D chess and looking right while everybody else is turning left. I hate the dolphins but I do believe this move will help them get back on track and there aren't in a bad spot at 4-3 anyway.
  25. Best case is we can split the four games with the Pats and Dolphins. That season finale at Miami looms LARGE though, can you imagine if it's a win and get in game for the last wildcard spot? Oh my!
