Look at the bright side ...
SaviorPeterman replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At this point I would have just preferred a terrible 3-13 type of campaign then winning 6 or 7 games if anything because of squandering draft position. In any event there is only so many of these type of seasons a fan can take in terms of peaking by midseason followed by an epic collapse and meltdown. Either way I'm not handing McD any coach of the year awards for overachieving early with a trash roster and QB. Because if he thinks this is part of the process he'll be in for a rude awakening next year when we truly purge the roster and enter a full blown rebuild. -

I honestly think the defense has quit on McD/Frazier because of the Dareus trade. Nobody is questioning MD not being worth his ridiculous contact but when you go and disrupt a lockerroom in that fashion midseason it has consequences. -
No that's why I said it probably don't matter even if Peterman is the starter ASAP. I think the offense would no doubt look better but he's not fixing the defensive issues especially the front seven which might be the worst in Buffalo during the last 17 years. That's why I"m not sure McD does make a move unless he truly believes this offense is capable of putting up 30+ per game with Peterman.

I'm really starting to believe the rumors that St. Doug left Buffalo because he thought the Pegulas were clueless and weren't buying what they were selling. I mean they are great people and all but looking at the state of both their pro sports teams doesn't inspire confidence, especially the Sabres. Good god what a mess that team is.

Probably but will be too little too late. Realistically though not sure this team is good enough to win any of next 3 games even if we make a QB change immediately.

I really don't have a problem with the comments per se but you can tell he's frustrated and certainly about to collapse from the pressure. Assuming we are sticking with him against the Chargers I can't imagine he won't be pulled by halftime if the offense is struggling again regardless of the score. -
Certainly not the worst team in the NFL but I'll go on a limb and say we likely wouldn't win a road game against Giants, Browns or 49ers right now. Obviously we couldn't beat a pathetic Jets and Bengals team away from Buffalo so it's a logical conclusion. Also guarantee we get smashed in LA next week by another sub .500 team if we don't make a QB changed.

An Honest Assessment: Who are our keepers?
SaviorPeterman replied to The Frankish Reich's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Keepers - pretty much all of this past year's draft class and recent vets acquired via trade and FA. Other than that you better believe a major purge is coming especially with just about all the holdover vets on this team sans Wood because he just signed a new deal. -

I'm not a Dareus hater and never questioned his talent but obviously this regime wasn't going to pay him $20+ mil a season just to eat up blockers and play no more than 2/3 of the defensive snaps. With that said there's no question he's missed right now and in hindsight we may have sacrificed a shot at the playoffs for a meager 6th round pick. Meanwhile in Jax, St Doug and Dareus well on his way to a possible division title but should certainly at worse be in the playoffs as a WC. -
He's on his way to the playoffs this year and we aren't. And with that defense they will be in any game in the playoffs and have a chance. Hope the Pegula Sports and Entertainment take note.

He was and they ran the same plays for Peterman. Difference is Taylor didn't even attempt to make the throws Peterman did because guys weren't wide open. Even though it was a small sample size NP showed the difference having a QB willing to throw into tight coverage, throw WR's open, look for the slant route, etc. -
Rams have a hell of a football team but they also have a young franchise QB. As for Woods yes he's flourishing this year and might have been our best WR the last few years even with Taylor.

SaviorPeterman replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just confirmed, but Taylor's 58 total yards passing today was his career low as a starting QB and one of the worst performances by any starting QB in Buffalo the last 17 years. And with Clay back in the lineup and the addition of Benjamin this says a lot. Yes the Saints are good but if Taylor were anything close to a franchise QB he would have had better production today and should have easily hit 120+ yards or so even on a 'bad' day. -

Just like after the Panthers game (which yes was premature) how can fans not see that a 5th round rookie QB is more than capable of passing for more than 58 yards in 3 quarters? Guarantee Peterman would have easily surpassed those numbers even if he turned the ball over. And no I'm not saying we would have won because nothing was stopping this freight train from the bayou today but Peterman certainly probably connects for the TD early to at least make it 7-0 vs 3-0. And speaking of that, if McD doesn't realize now more than ever the only chance this team has going forward is to score points because of the defense than he's truly in over his head and will be long gone from Buffalo just like the many precedessors that failed before him. Time to show some balls and make a QB change and give this team a chance to actually stay in the playoff race. -

If McD and his staff truly know what they are doing my hunch is they do know Taylor is terrible but obviously not going to admit it publicly and are simply waiting for the right time to make a change to Peterman. That day has obviously come full circle. -
Bills set some very dubious marks today
SaviorPeterman replied to SaviorPeterman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks BF11, this is a very hard day for all of us but these numbers are not only disheartening but totally unacceptable. And even if a QB change isn't imminent just yet a message needs to be sent especially on defense. At the very least there's no excuse for Milano to not be a full time starter now. Humber was god awful today and among the worst of the front seven including Preston Brown who I really can't wait until he's long gone from Buffalo too. -
Definitely 2017, and I'm going to make a somewhat bold prediction with a caveat: If we stick with Taylor this team don't win a game the rest of the year. But even a change to Peterman likely won't be enough to avoid the inevitable 18th straight year without the playoffs although I think we'd win at least a few more games with him. As for beyond this year, obviously even jaded fans should be a little optimistic knowing we have tons of picks and cap room to continue to overhaul this roster. But if we don't hit on the draft picks really don't matter and next year's draft will determine whether or not we hit 20+ years without a playoff game.

Speaking of the 6 rushing TD's, saw another ridiculous stat that this is the first time since 1941 that an NFL team ran for 6 TD's and never punted. Just mind boggling that this team continues to set new lows regardless of regime change and roster turnover. I'm really starting to believe in the Flutie Curse or Indian Burial Ground stuff. -
This is worth noting for all the talk that we can't or shouldn't blame Taylor for the offensive struggles. Dawkins was the top graded player on the team period today and our turnstile friends Vlad and Mills actually graded out better than Wood and Incognito (who quietly has been very terrible in recent weeks). This is also the type of data that this coaching staff will presumably study when they watch the film and see time and time again Taylor look completely lost in the pocket and check down or miss guys open downfield. https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-refocused-new-orleans-saints-47-buffalo-bills-10

Yes the oline is not very good (although PFF did have us graded out as a top 10 pass blocking unit as recent as before the Raiders game) but never underestimate what a QB change can do for a team. In fact people thought the same thing back in 2010 (including myself who was an Edwards supporter at the time) and as soon as we went to Fitzpatrick this offense looked great especially the WR's. In fact I remember Stevie Johnson publicly saying he would have never even had a chance in this league if not for Fitzpatrick. Taylor simply can't or won't make the plays in the passing game that are there to be made mostly out of fear of turning the ball over which is why his metrics have always been very misleading.

Yes I want Taylor gone and dying for a switch to Peterson, but I do feel bad for Taylor and will never question the hard work and dedication he has to this team. But like most failed in this QB's in this league, hard work and leadership can't compensate for the lack of intangibles needed to succeed in this league. There's a reason why the guy was a 6th round pick and backup in Baltimore and now it's time to find out if Peterman is the same type of guy or perhaps the next steal. -
Ahhh, the annual 'who cares we have been throttled the last 2 weeks we are still in the playoff picture' thread. Sadly these threads will continue at least a few more weeks while we are still 'mathematically' alive anyway. For me (and I'm sure many other fans) the season ended last week in NY, for some holding out a little longer it ended today. Only chance this team has next week is if we make QB change but still don't see it happening just yet, maybe by halftime next week though when this offense continues to sputter.
-
That would be against the Pats and as much as I'm dying to see a QB change I don't want Peterman's first start against Brady and Hoodie. If it's going to happen has to be next week or at the very latest at KC.
