I hear ya. If they loved Josh Allen, I have no problem whatsoever trading all that to move up to get him. But they have to be right. And if they're not right, they'll have to most likely find the right guy in the next year or so with a much lower pick. If they loved a QB next year and weren't sure about Allen anymore, I wouldn't complain at all if they went 1st round on one again. It would be bad optics and a hard sell to pretty much everyone including ownership, the fanbase, and media...but I would rather that than have no answer at QB in 2-3 years and Allen being the only guy that we really took a swing on. The QB position is just that important.

I think I just need to see more before believing that their heads are in the right place. Yes, this roster has holes in it right now, but I'm not judging them for that. It's a rebuild, that takes some time. I also probably wasn't overly effusive in praise about making the playoffs last year. It was nice, but in all honesty I thought it was a little flukey and I knew the roster was going to be substantially different in a couple of years after that, as it needed to be. I will say what I did like was that they continued the rebuilding process after we made the playoffs, and didn't very stupidly decide to go into some kind of win-now mode. There was still a lot of roster re-shaping to do and they did understand that. It sounds like we agree on things up to that. For me, we have to have that GM/coach tandem that can find/develop a franchise QB. I believe giving them 3-4 total years is really fair, and I'm not even pigeon-holing them into that guy having to be Allen. I think if they go "all in" on him and don't bring in any other legitimate QB prospects along the way and we have nobody if the day comes where they decide Allen's not the guy, I don't really think that's anything different than the failed regimes of the past.

I like that we didn't give up any 2019 picks...however, I feel like you and a lot of people are using that to marginalize what we did give up to draft Allen. We still gave up a lot of assets to get to that pick to get him. And I'm totally fine with that, you have to have a franchise QB to be a long-term contender. If he turns out to be a big-time QB, nobody will ever care about we gave up, and rightfully so. But at the same time, I can't agree that if you're giving up that much for a guy, you can simply just shrug it off if he's a bust. I think 3-4 years is totally fair in terms of giving a regime a shot at finding a successful franchise QB. And again, I'm not even saying it has to be Allen within that time-frame. By then, they will have had the time to draft and bring in other QB's along the way to give themselves more than just 1 shot at this. That's the smart way to do it. As far as Cowher...I just can't look at it that way. If you asked me right now if I would sign up for 1 SB ring over the next 14 years, I would say no. No matter how bad a team is - and I would know - I'm a Bills, Mets, Knicks, Sabres fan..the goal for every new regime should always be to build a dynasty and long term contender. I would not sign up for finding our franchise QB in year 12 of their regime.

I'll put it this way...if by the end of the 2020 season we don't have an identified franchise QB...Beane should be out. To me, the only way he should survive if Josh Allen is a bust is if he brought in other QB's along the way and one of them emerges as the guy. If he puts everything on the line on Allen and he's a bust and we have no solution after 2 more seasons, that's his own fault.

LeSean McCoy allegations
HomeskillitMoorman replied to FeelingOnYouboty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Victims often feel scared for their lives and their kid's lives and either don't report things like that themselves or beg family/friends not to. This could all be a scam...but there could also be legitimate reasons for why it was never reported. Obviously, if it is true, she was right about what LeSean is capable of. Not saying I would've done the same, just that it certainly isn't an easy or cut and dry decision if you really are a victim. -
Some comedy to lighten the mood

I remember back on BBMB, people kept posting new threads with the Hitler reacting to the Bills signing TO. My favorite one though I think is the one where he finds out the Bills hired Chan Gailey. -
Not saying this is what it is...could be that she was drunk or just angry and wanted to humiliate him...but it's possible she's getting that all out there in public in case she's in any way scared of him. Scared of what he might do if she confronted him in person. Or maybe I watch too much Law & Order SVU. But I think it's possible.

Brandon Beane: The Art of a Deal
HomeskillitMoorman replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Throughout his time as Bills’ general manager, Beane has proven himself as a rather savvy executive. He traded players that he inherited like Watkins, Darby, Marcell Dareus, and Tyrod Taylor in exchange for draft picks, selections he would use to move around in the 2018 draft in order to secure players of his choosing. Although Buffalo is undoubtedly in a rebuilding phase, Beane has seemingly set the team up for long-term success. However, Sporting News’ Vinnie Iyer does not seem to share this opinion. Beane is ranked at No. 25. http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/list/nfl-general-manager-gm-rankings-2018-best-worst/sme9fnw0e3v81xq7bqrkjsexa I think ranking GM's is pretty tough because of so many organizations that are taken over in different scenarios. It pretty much doesn't make sense to do it. Every situation is different when a GM takes over and how many years into the regime they're in. Beane is the perfect example because I would basically give him an incomplete right now. We really haven't seen the most important decisions he's made play out yet. Obviously most of the judgement will be based on what Josh Allen ends up being, as it should. Can't build a long-term contender if you can't get QB right. -
5 Way-too-Early picks from CBS
HomeskillitMoorman replied to 1st Ammendment NoMas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is where I am. I honestly think the playoffs last year was a little flukey for this group, it's probably a mediocre at best team right now. Which is fine. Edmunds is a big deal but obviously for this regime it's going to be all about Josh Allen. None of the other stuff matters if he's a bust. If we win 9 games again but Allen looks horrible, I'd be way more alarmed than if we win 6 but Allen shows a lot of promise. -
Jim Kelly to receive Jimmy V award at ESPYS

Would he have won this if he didn't throw so many screens and swing passes and had lesser talent around him? -
Freddy Action, always!

You're missing the point about that. Let me ask you a question...of the people that actually read that Joe B article...how many of them do you think came on to the message board without having known it existed and said "hey, I hope there's a Joe B article on Josh Allen today, let me search for one!" Most, if not all, read it because they saw it posted either as a new thread or within this one after it was merged. And I would bet that of that group, most saw it when it was a new thread. So if someone just came here to look for some new, interesting stuff...they would have had to sift through 6 pages of this thread to find it. And maybe the mods of this board want it to go in that direction. I'm not on here everyday and don't post a ton so they certainly won't care if I leave, but I think they'll start losing some good people if it goes down that road.

Do you know how many hundreds of pages and thousands of posts there would be in 1 Josh Allen thread if everything was condensed into it? It seems like you have a lot of time on your hands to sift through all that, which is fine, but to ask everyone to do it seems crazy. Just because a thread is about a player doesn't mean it's about the same subject matter regarding that player. With a new thread created about new content on a player, you can see up front if that's something you want to click on. And if not, it's a split second decision and you can keep scrolling down. Your way would require for everyone to sift through so much stuff that they might not be interested in to find any kind of new info. If you want to talk about sad...it's trying to stop people from having the experience they want on this site just because it's not what you want. Nobody's trying to stop you from posting something new in page 13 of an existing thread just because it's not the way they want to do it. My opinion of course, but I don't think the other side of the argument comes from a place of narcissism, whereas it seems like yours does.

I'm relatively new here and don't post a ton so it probably doesn't mean much...I'm probably like the equivalent of a Ray-Ray McCloud on this board, if even...but disappointing that a post like the Joe B one got grouped into this. I fear this board is going to go down the road of boards that have 1 set topic for each player with 400 pages attached to them and people either stop coming or have to spend a lot of time sifting through all the pages to find new info and insight. And all because of a faction of people dedicate themselves to complaining about new threads being opened when they have the option to post something new on a page 34 of a thread if they want to. But anyway, good article. I agree he played with inferior competition but I do still think he's got some issues, especially on some of the shorter and intermediate throws. That might sound like it's just "coachable" but there are many QB's who are never able to clean that up. There's a feel for the game that's involved when deciding when to rip a ball and putting some touch on it, and only the elite few can process that in a matter of a couple of seconds.

Beane & McDermott #1?
HomeskillitMoorman replied to MarlinTheMagician's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Simply breaking the drought ultimately won't mean anything. The fates of McBeane are completely tied to Josh Allen. If he's a bust, they will and should be out of here as another failed regime. If he's the real deal...I'm on board with anointing them whatever you want to. -
I didn't know anything about Losman at the time but I was excited because I hated Bledsoe and was excited we were moving on from him. I was angry about the EJ pick and never once believed he was going to be a successful QB. I'm mixed on Allen. It'll pretty much echo what many people here say, but yeah he makes some exciting plays that many other QB's cant...but what scares me is the easy throws that he's so inconsistent with. I don't care about completion percentage in general, but so much of this game is about efficiency and moving the chains. He won't be able to miss those throws in the NFL and survive. And that's not always "correctable". A lot of those plays we're talking about are all about feel and rhythm and instincts. That being said, I didn't have a clear cut favorite QB of the Big 5 in this draft. The one that I'll be watching in comparison is the one that was available at our pick last year, Mahomes. I hope we made the right call.

If they like a QB, Nate Peterman shouldn't be stopping them from drafting one. He's a throwaway player.

I think the Bills will regret not taking this guy. I don't care about the arm, he's a really good football player.
