  1. That’s not the McDermott way.
  2. Offensive design is an issue too, seems like most of our gains come on broken plays. Its not encouraging because a QB like Allen really needs a strong head coach and OC that we don’t have.
  3. I haven't really been around the last 2 months and I did see I made a post last month that was a little hazy. I'm not throwing a pity party or anything like that but I wanted to share because I didn't know if I would ever be back to do doing the little things in life like this. Almost a couple of months ago now, I really started to notice I was "losing time". I won't get into a lot of specifics, but some things happened and I am pretty much diagnosed with schizophrenia. There were some symptoms before that I just thought were kind of strange things that were happening, it's hard to explain it. But even worse, I don't know what happened during those times and whatever I did, I emptied out almost all of my savings. I'm in my 30's and basically have to start out financially where I was in my early 20's. All of this happened in a really short span after I had been incredibly blessed health-wise my entire life, and yeah, I thought of doing the worst. I thought about it real hard. But I got some fight left in me. I feel better right now and medication seems to be working. I'm going to be OK. I may not ever have the life I had worked for and was driving towards, but I'll be OK. I'll be back at work soon and I'll start over. We can only do what we can do, right? I guess the reason I wanted to share was I've really learned to be grateful for every moment and everything I do have. So I am grateful for this community, many of whom I've debated with. It wasn't too long ago that I also wanted to say I hope people don't take all of this stuff too seriously. It seems absolutely crazy now that just a few months ago I was actually mad about things I saw in a game. Or the Patriots winning. At the end of the day, it's cool as ***** that we have a great community and I can walk into a Bills bar anywhere and instantly be family. And maybe one day we can actually win to make it a little sweeter. With that, does anyone feel like going over some of the offseason highlights? I did see some of the players we signed and it looks like the O-line should be better, but I don't know most of the guys outside of Morse.
  4. All I can think of is Denzel in Remember the Titans yelling "I will break my foot off in your John Brown hind pots!"
  5. Hopefully, obviously it all depends on how/if Allen progresses. We only saw a little bit from Barkley so we don't really even know if he's a reliable backup. I liked that he was willing to throw the ball down the field in that game but it's yet to be seen if he's a quality #2, although hopefully we won't have to find out. I'm not the biggest fan of Derek Anderson being on the roster. It's fine that he's a mentor but he looked horrific on the field. If they consider him that valuable they should just see if he wants to coach and pay him whatever he's making now for it. Better than him taking up a roster spot. I would much rather have a young developmental guy for the #3 spot.
  6. I'm in agreement with the crowd that's still on the fence about Beane, and I don't think that's portraying him in a negative light. It's actually neither praising him or bashing him for the rebuild. I don't think tearing it down is that tough a job, it's how you rebuild back up and we're going to see a very important part of that this offseason after we saw the biggest single part of it last year with Allen. Whether or not Allen becomes a real franchise QB and what pieces Beane puts around him will determine what kind of job he's done here. The one thing that drives me crazy is all the nonsense about "breaking the drought". It was a fun moment but to me that really didn't change anything. It was a mediocre team at best that made it at 9-7 and lost in the first round. From the perspective of evaluating a GM, to me that pretty much means nothing. If he fails at putting the right pieces around Allen, I don't see how a 9-7 one and done run to the playoffs 2 years prior changes any part of that.
  7. I like Tate and the Hump the most out of all these options. I really, really don't want Tyrell Williams, which makes me fear he's going to be the one. Every time I've watched him, he's had big drops and it doesn't seem like he can make catches when any kind of physical coverage is involved.
  8. I think there are legitimate reasons for this. I believe it was against the Cowboys that the Rams had a huge 4th and short play and McVay went all the way down to one end of the sideline and they ended up calling a play-action pass when most thought it was going to be a run. This was also a long time ago and I don't know why I remember this but I do. In that infamous loss we had to the Cowboys on Monday night over 10 years ago, we had a big play on 3rd and long in the 4th quarter. We had a really conservative gameplan all night and had run the ball in similar situations but on this play, I remember Jauron watching really intently and had his hands on his knees, about as intense as you'll ever see him. And it ended up being a pass play that Trent got picked off on. But I 100% remember almost knowing that play was going to be a pass just because of Jauron's body language. There is something to all that, I believe it.
  9. Wasn't the score of last year's Superbowl like 41-33? And 34-28 the year before?
  10. I think that's largely why people seem to be so on board with him.
  11. THIS! This organization could do something about the Pats. They just never do. It's stranger to me that the Bills seem to get a pass here for what the Patriots have done for so long. The teams in the AFC East essentially handing the Pats an automatic bye and at least 1 home game in the playoffs every year has been a big part of how many SB's they've won.
  12. This is what scares me about McDermott and his conservative, predictable style. In some ways the "close" game in Buffalo against them this year worries me more than the one in NE where we just got obliterated in the trenches. While the score was close for a lot of that game...it was never in doubt. The Pats were in control all the way. If we ever do take the next step, I have my doubts that this coaching staff will be able to come up with innovative and adaptive schemes to compete with the big boys. We're almost going to have to have overwhelming talent that can withstand that to go far.
  13. That's kind of a heavy handed accusation
  14. I'm kind of amazed at how seriously people take a little light trash talk. WIth this dude it seems like it's all in fun, I have no problem with it.
  15. I don't think we're an 8 win team as it stands today. I think the 6.5 over/under is pretty fair with the current roster. The Bills certainly have an opportunity to plug their gaping holes with quality players but we'll see if they actually do it. If anything, the Pats game at the end of the year showed how far we still have to go. They almost looked bored in that game and were in total control, especially dominating in the trenches on both sides.
  16. I'd only trade down if we're confident we're still getting a pass rusher like this. We really need one to help the defense take the next step.
  17. I'd rather make him a coach. He offers no value as a player on the roster, he was horrific on the field. I'd rather that 3rd QB spot go to a young developmental prospect.
  18. It's obviously only a good thing if it leads to winning. I definitely remember the continuity "logic" coming out of OBD when Jauron got year #4. It's great if they end up being the right guys, but I think this year #3 is really going to tell the story on the GM and HC whether it's good or bad. I haven't made a big deal about the combined record for these 2 years because I did agree that a rebuild had to happen. But this is where we need to see the big leap.
  19. I know 9-7 with a 1 and done playoff appearance hits the standard for a lot of people, but that's not ever going to be something that should actually move the needle. And I've never even blamed McDermott for the team's overall record in these 2 seasons. It's a rebuild on a team with holes, it would be unrealistic to expect the world so far. I would've judged him the same exact way if Dalton didn't complete that pass and we didn't make the playoffs, I wouldn't have taken anything away from him for that, just like I don't think that automatically wipes out anything negative about him. So that being said...how does any of that change how bad he's been at managing games and in that instance, literally not knowing the implications of what the difference in a tie vs a win was for the team's playoff chances?
  20. This is such garbage. Of course this is the one game where Mahomes can't hit even a wide open target for a TD. I hate football.
  21. I mentioned the high-level and probably lazy version of this. I had forgotten the timeout he had used before that too. Brutal. But yeah, it's hard to see him ever being a guy that's going to outsmart a top coach. The hope with him will be that he'll be a good teacher and we'll have so much talent that it'll soften the blow of how bad a game manager he is. We could definitely do better than McDermott, I think he's a dime a dozen guy.
  22. I wouldn't mind it as long as it's not the "big" acquisition at WR. If it's really just a supplemental move.
  23. When McDermott basically tried to play for a tie against the Colts last season in the snow game, and punted on 4th and 1 from the Colts 40 in OT, and then essentially admitted after the game that he didn't know the implications of what a tie would've done to their playoff chances.
