We just badly need to stop the bleeding on D. This might always be an issue with McD, the guy just does not believe in stepping on the opponents throats. Always with this prevent garbage to let them back in the game.

I like Burrow a lot. They definitely got a good one. Haha I don't know why we automatically have to compare him to our QB. They're different players. But no doubt Burrow is more polished coming into the league, I think it's definitely fair to say that.

I agree that Jimmy G is limited and definitely not top 10 and I'd take Josh over him...but I think this kind of ranking is expected. If we're looking at it really honestly, Jimmy G did just come off a SB appearance. He had a stacked team around him, no doubt about that. But to gain that kind of respect and publicity, you gotta win a few big games. Josh is 0-4 (I think? Unless he missed a game his first year) vs the Pats including a big stinker at home last year when we had some hype and the football world was watching and kind of threw up on himself in the 2nd half vs the Texans in the playoffs. We're going to need to see him flourish on the big stage, like the game vs KC, for him to move to the next level of hype. Obviously a strong showing if we're in the playoffs this year will help too. Ultimately I'm not concerned about the rankings and stuff though. I think Josh has shown nice progress since the halfway point last year. I just hope to see the volume of designed runs for him come down, I could see him being worn out by the end of the regular season if not.

I thought it was kind of boring too. The best seasons are with the really dysfunctional teams, like the Bengals with Marvin and Chad and that random dude that would pop up out of nowhere to pull players aside and to tell them they've been cut or the Browns with Hue. Those were hilarious.

I would've waited on this one given the length. I kind of just thought this was going to bring his contract to 3 or 4 years I think McD's a good teacher of the game but he's far from one of the best on gameday and hasn't done well going up against the better coaches and teams. Hopefully it works out. As we've seen, you don't necessarily always have to have a top echelon coach to win it all.

I'm in the camp of this being click-bait in the extremity of the headline. But the actual concerns raised are legit. If we're being real...Josh hasn't played well against top competition namely the Patriots, and in the case of the playoff game, pretty much threw up on himself in the 2nd half against a bad secondary. My issue has moreso been with the deer in the headlights look he's especially had against the Pats, especially in the home game. That was really hard to stomach. That being said, he is very talented and I think he's better than the numbers bear out, as controversial as that's become to say. But I have my concerns about him making the leap to the next level too, and I think that's fair. We'll see what happens this year with Diggs and hopefully the o-line will take a step forward too, that's actually my biggest worry going into this season. It's our weakest unit IMO and really the only issue I've had with Beane this offseason. But I agree with one of the posters above that it's become very polarizing in the sense that there's such extreme opinions about Josh, whether it's that he's a star already with no questionmarks and then the group that think he sucks. I don't think either is right yet.

We would need some serious evaluation if we don't win the division this year. Especially if we lose it to Stidham.

This too. The programs for the league need to run parallel with a ground-floor effort if we're ever really going to have any kind of equity in this space.

Sure, I'm not saying it's the right idea for a game, it's more of the scoffing at the idea that there is or ever has been any kind of gender pay inequity. Lets take a deeper look into the work related accident data. You do realize that so many of those positions were for jobs that women historically were either flat out not allowed to have or weren't able to get because of discrimination, right? The system has silo'd genders into certain positions for an incredibly long time, and we've only made a certain amount of headway to fix that. And that goes both ways, there's still a certain bias against men in traditional women-dominated fields. But I don't know how anyone can possiby argue that men have reaped far more benefits from this than women have. Even after we've evened out the playing field in education...the executive/leadership/highest payig jobs across the board amongst all lines of work are still completely dominated by white males. Unless you're going to say that you just think white males are smarter and more capable than everyone else...how would you not see that as problematic and believe that no steps need to be taken to drive equity?

The argument over the exact policy is fine...but the idea that there is no racism or discrimination when it comes to these hiring practices is an absolute joke. There's just less of it than when it was at it's most extreme. That doesn't mean it's "good enough". We have gotten to a place where we are most likely selecting the best players, but even that took time and addressing long-standing biases that black guys could be at what were always considered some of the most cerebral/leadership positions, such as QB, C, S, MLB. I'm not even sure we're fully there in that regard to be honest. But we haven't even come close to creating equality for those cerebral positions in the coaching or especially front office worlds, and that's not just in the NFL. I believe the NBA only has 3 minority GM's and 8 coaches. I could be wrong on the exact numbers, just going by the last time I read up on it, I'm sure it's still pretty close to that. Lets take the NHL for example...given the amount of white players in the game...would nobody at all question if most of the coaches and GM's in the NHL were black? I find that incredibly hard to believe. It's also not just black or minorities...look at the coaching world for women. It's widely accepted for men to be coaching women's sports, whether it's for the scholastic, Olympic, or professional levels. Not even in the same world for women trying to coach in men's sports. Look at Becky Hammon in the NBA. Future HOF inductee for the WNBA, has been a top assistant coach for the last 7 years in the NBA for Greg Popovich, one of the greatest to ever do it. Has had numerous great and HOF players on the Spurs openly vouch for her...yet it looks like the only shot she probably has is with the Spurs after/whenever Popovich retires while numerous male retreads get recycled over and over and over again, and young assistants for top coaches, even from Popovich himself elsewhere get opportunities over and over and over again. It's a nasty cycle, we're in 2020 and we STILL have these issues. And somehow we STILL have people who are in denial about them. Embarrassingly for me...it's my own fellow white males who are at the forefront of that.

If you're talking about it like an absurdity...I hope you're looking at the fact that males have essentially had that advantage in pay equity since...well...forever.

I like Beane, good stuff for the most part. The Gronk praising bothered me. Doesn't ANYONE in the organization care about one of the dirtiest shots we've ever seen that he landed on one of our best players? I mean I know we didn't do anything to fight back but to gush about him as a player and person is rough to hear. That guy is a piece of trash.

Some of the comments here are troubling. Mental health issues are no joke. If you want to slam Sammy as the bust of a football player he was here, that's fine. I never liked that pick and didn't really like him as a player and fought people here on the "decoy" nonsense. But some of the personal stuff here is pretty cruel. Dude was in his early 20's with what sounds like significant mental health issues. Lots of people with those problems self-medicate, especially from underserved populations where you don't really know what to do with all of that. Hopefully whether all that stuff is real or not, the dude can keep the mental clarity he supposedly has now. Even if he's just tricking himself with some of his philosophies, there's no harm in trying to turn negatives into positives.

Haha yikes, I just saw that. I don't know what that was. That's a concern to me as well. It didn't feel like he got better as his college career went along. Although I really only saw him in "big" games so I wouldn't know the entire scope of what his seasons looked like. I've come around more to the pick though. I did want us to draft a QB, I am not in the camp of fully trusting Matt Barkley off of one good game he had against a bad team when the rest of his career he hasn't even shown to be a reliable backup, I definitely wanted some competition for the backup role and even possibly a potential contingency plan for Allen in case he doesn't take the leap in year 3. I personally don't think Fromm is high-potential enough for the latter, but I think he could be a solid backup, which would still make that a good pick in round 5.

This is mostly about the salary dump, which is huge. Honestly though, even though that draft was stacked...I don't know how much I can rail on the former regime for taking Dareus. He was a total force in college and he had everything physically to be a really impactful stalwart on the DLine. To me it's still tougher to find those guys than WR's. I tend to be in the middle when it comes to the draft being evaluation vs crapshoot. For the most part I think it's very tough to tell who will adapt to the NFL and keep/elevate their motivation. I don't blame the logic in drafting Dareus though, at the time I was fully on board.

Definitely agree about the shot at Bills Mafia, the best fanbase in all of sports. I honestly think he was purposefully trolling, he probably does know better. The part about McD though is exactly the problem that I think exists in most evaluations of him. That would be nice if McD was just a defensive coordinator. But the head coach has more responsibility than that. I wasn't as bothered by being 0-4 vs the Pats in the first two years as I was losing both this past season because both of those were winnable games. That was not the elite Brady of years past, and it really wasn't that good of a team overall. Miami came into NE and did what we couldn't basically a week or so later, and they're in year 1 of their rebuild.

I like our talent, but am concerned about this guy's ability in big moments and if he is the kind of coach that can battle with the best.

Sounds kind of like Matt Barkley. Dude had 1 good game for us against a bad team and has somehow been solidified here as a high quality backup in spite of the rest of his career. I didn't love the Fromm pick but I was 100% all for drafting a QB to create some competition for that backup spot. I wasn't nearly as sold that we had a good backup situation in place.

It's mostly this. It's a weird coping mechanism that I don't think is really needed. There are so many teams in the draft that don't get the #1 guy they hoped for at their pick, but no GM is going to say that, so I think fans are conditioned to believe or just want to believe that the draft always works out in the most optimal way.

He's awesome overall, but I had never heard that one and it's gotta be the worst one I've heard from him.

I kind of like this dude and I understand the connection with the song title...however that song sounded awful. I'm usually cool with Eminem but his voice sounded really annoying on that track.

I like this a lot, our kicking game needs a total revamp. We can't keep going with a kicker where a 50+ yard FG is a complete non-starter. Hopefully a punter is coming too!
