Players the Bills have met with at Combine
BuffaloBillyG replied to gonzo1105's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's nice to see but ultimately most teams meet with a lot of players at the combine. It's kind of footballs version of speed dating. -
Commanders DT Johnathan Allen Released.

First off, nice goal post moving. Truly top notch. The "no brainier" comment I made had to do with rework his deal and kick in some void years. No where did I claim to be "all in" or some Allen expert. YOU brought up the cap number and I refuted that with how to easily and financially fit him under the cap at a value price. Why is it a no brainier? Because if you care about dead cap hits 5 years from now...hell I don't even know if I'll be alive 5 years from now to care about it. Allen has requested a trade. The Commanders have granted permission. I have (several times) explained how managing his cap hit is feasible. You can scroll back up. If you need to know why Johnathan Allen would help our poor DL...I suggest you try and actually watch football. You seem more interested in grandstanding then actually having a conversation. Something I no longer do with those unable or unwilling to grasp easy and often used concepts. You can have whatever last word you want. I won't even see it. Go Bills Finally, you ask questions that due to me not being in the front office of the Commanders or Bills would be impossible to answer as some kinda of "gotcha" or things you could easily find out for yourself with a 3 minute Google search. I would suggest however if you can't comprehend why reworking a guy on a 1 year deal would be something both sides would want to do...maybe you aren't the Master Strategist you claim to be. Maybe with the way you move goalposts and want to bait people to argue...you should switch the second half of your name to "Baiter". Be more fitting. -

They won the Super Bowl. Maybe you were boycotting? And yes, they drafted the DL well. They also had picks that didn't pan out and took the opportunity when it was available to upgrade through trades. As an example, they whiffed on Jalen Reagor in the first round. Went on to trade for AJ Brown. Had a weakness a few years back at CB. Made a move for Slay. Those are the types of trades that take a team from good to Super. And again, that "$16M salary" can EASILY be redone to lower the cap hit to almost nothing. He's in the last year of his deal and would likely like some new guarantees. It's a no brainier. When all is said and done you can work that contract to less of a cap hit then the #30 overall pick is slotted to make. -
Have to remember, for years that's all we had here. It was the guys like Fred Jackson that started at Coe and worked hard to get to where he was. The spunky punter rising to the face of the media guide. Stuff like that was all we had. The Hamlin story was awesome while it happened and I'm thankful it turned out the way it did. But it does get aggravating hearing about it and seeing every time he does something on the field they have to launch into the story again even years later. My God, let the kid move on in life. Also, wasn't it Doyle that played through the injury (ACL tear?) in the Miami game where we lost everyone else to heat stroke? He toughed it out on one leg? That's what I think people like him for.

I believe he was and even at the time Beane went out of his way saying he didn't blame the Commanders leadership...it was JD's agent/advisors. Basically how I remember it, we made an offer and Washington did at the same time at a lower price. MCKissic has told his agents he wanted to stay in Washington, so they withheld the Commanders offer until he had agreed to Buffalo's deal verbally. Agent tried for the better payday rather than clients wishes. Once MCKissic found out about the Commanders offer he flipped to that as it was his preferred place all along. Wasn't the Commanders trying to swoop in.

Cue the other typical fan response 'we can't afford it ..." Simple. You rework his deal. Add some void years. I don't even know if I'll be alive in 2030 so I really couldn't care less about "dead cap" 5-6 years from now. Look at Philadelphia. Learn from that. -

And? It's called void years. It's completely doable. With plenty left to spare. -

Lol..wasn't talking about in Cleveland. But I think realistically, Allen could be had for a mid round pick coming off the injury. Buy low. Re work his deal and it wouldn't be prohibitive at all IMO. -
Missed 9 games last year with a pectoral injury. Good force inside when healthy. Last year of his contract and is a $22M cap hit for Washington. Looked really good in the playoffs for Washington last year.

I'm sure the words used by McDermott directly to Coleman in private were a bit more colorful than the ones he flashed to the media. But I'm glad McDermott acknowledged they didn't get enough out of him and he needs to improve. Keon is going to have to earn his role next year.

Considerably more skill needed than a kneel down at the end of a half or game. No one looking to ban that. It's not that much higher of a conversation rate than a normal QB sneak or a RB dive on 3rd or 4th and short. Teams are slowly starting to figure it out now.

I would have guessed Washington. Doesn't matter. They aren't likely to have the support to pass it.

Could the Bills be playing in Ireland?
BuffaloBillyG replied to djp14150's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe. Maybe not. Stay tuned! -
6 games played in the last 2 years and coming of an ACL. Hard pass. We already have Milano for that role

NFL off-season cuts/tags/ free agency ( non Bills)
BuffaloBillyG replied to djp14150's topic in The Stadium Wall
Couple more vet defensive players hit the open market. Both were cuts so no impact on Comp Pick formula. Thompson would intrigue me except he can't seem to stay healthy. Thornhill has played good ball before, but kind of flames out in Cleveland. Neither player should be expensive. -
Free Agents we like for the 2025 Bills?
BuffaloBillyG replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think this is very valid. With Josh being 29 to start next season it's time to start long term planning for the end game of his career. We have those 6 or 7 more years with him. By that time he's 35-36 and in the twilight of his career. So throw whatever it takes right now into what it takes to win the big one once or a few times. Then hit the reset button, have a bad year and land a high draft pick and take a swing at finding the next great QB in 2030 or 2031. The AFC has some good teams and we are near the top of that list year in and year out... without having much in the department of elite talent. This roster with a few more blue chip type guys (the Eagles method) would put the Bills on another level than teams like Baltimore and KC. -
I think this is the most logical answer. We all like new shiny toys, especially those with flashy names. But first of all...there's no guarantee ANY of these guys even get moved. The Browns have a hard line in the sand that they aren't trading Garrett. If you want him you'll have to blow their doors off with an offer. And even then they may hold tight. I've seen nothing about Crosby actually being on the block...and he's actively stated he wants to stay with the Raiders. Most of the names floated are pure speculation. Happens every off season and a high percentage of the time one or maybe two big name guys are moves for picks. If one of the vets can be had for a reasonable amount...great. If we have to look to the draft... great. Just find talented guys at a good value

NFL may push touchbacks up to the 35 yard line
BuffaloBillyG replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
This makes it a felony to return a kick out of the end zone. Or to kick it into the end zone.
