  1. I like Benford a lot. Great value for the place he was picked at. However if signs that have pointed to us moving to play more of a man to man defense are true, he's worth less to us than he would be in a zone scheme IMO. The number he may seek may not match up to the output we get in the future. If we move to more of a man scheme, I'm ok letting him test the market.
  2. And no one thought Edmunds would approach the number he got from the Bears either. But you got an ascending, young athletic player with starting experience and team leadership out in the open market...really no telling how much value he would have IMO. Especially with more and more teams going lighter/faster on defense these days. But I do think it would go for more than $25M in guaranteed cash.
  3. 4 years and only $25M in guaranteed money? That's a good value IMO. Low enough AAV that it won't cripple and could be easy to get out of in a year or two. High enough to line him up with players of his level.
  4. Not for nothing, but the Dolphins just had 2 guys give back money in the same week. It happens around the league every year. All comes down to if the vet player feels he can get more on the open market. If he feels he can help refuses the cut and is let go. But it's not "props to him". He's still taking where he feels he can make the most money. It's still a business decision.
  5. Not sure. They are down slot (Dell) and a boundary guy (Diggs). This seems to fill the Dell role.
  6. Except he was basically that last year and couldn't hold off Aiden O'Connell. Trubisky isn't great by any means. If we needed him to play 4 games, I think Brady can shift a gameplan around enough to feature the run game and some of what Mitch does do well to cobble together 2-2 over that span. Anything more than 4 games without Allen is likely to be a lost year anyway. The last think I want is some guy that can help us get to like 8-9 and a game short of the playoffs. If (and please football Gods don't let this happen) we were to be without Josh for an extended period of time, I want the best draft pick out of a lost season as possible to grab an Elite WR talent or DL.
  7. Serve it with Rooties Bleu Cheese and Franks. Will go down much easier.
  8. Teams permitting players to seek a trade is the trendy negotiation tactic. Let other teams hammer out the value of the deal, then offer them a contract just north of that.
  9. Do Von next!
  10. WRs are gonna get paid high this off-season. Lots of demand to upgrade WR rooms and lack of high end talent coming in FA and the draft. WR sticker shock is going to be a thing next week. Bank on it. Add into that Tutu probably has more value to the Rams in what will be his 5th year in that system then to any other team right now...I think it's a fair deal. One year to see if he can move into the role Kupp leaves.
  11. Wave Tutu byebye...
  12. Morse was a great guy. Solid player. Pretty much a guy you want on your team. I think his steady play and knowledge helped Josh develop more than it gets credit for as well. He's in the pool of people that helped Josh early in his career for sure. Hope he has a happy and healthy retirement and enjoys time with his beautiful family.
  13. And then on top of that tie up $30M AAV in a new contract? No thanks.
  14. On a team friendly (very friendly) deal with playtime and sack incentives, I'd be ok with it. Not a fan of his, and his play has seemed to dio even when healthy. But a deal like I mentioned makes it a worthwhile gamble IMO
  15. I definitely think Slayton is in the "about to be overpaid" lost. Rumblings of quite a few teams in on him should drive up his price. I'd say the Gabe Davis deal is his absolute floor with potential to hit Christian Kirk money possible. We shall see
  16. Of course, the big difference between last year and this year is last year New England had an unknown rookie head coach and nothing substantial at QB. This year they have Vrabel and Maye showed very well last season. While not a true Super Bowl contender just yet it could easily be a program players can talk themselves into wanting to join and help build to that level.
  17. Here is the problem. There are a LOT of teams looking to upgrade the WR room this year. And there are not a lot of top WRs hitting the market adding to that this is not a great WR draft as in years past. Supply and demand don't match. Which means guys like Dyami Brown are going to get over paid in FA and trades for someone like Metcalf are going to be extra costly. My bet is he ends up in New England. They have been looking aggressively to upgrade that room, they have the cash to upgrade his contract and the picks to get it done. Wouldn't be shocked to see them offer their early 2nd rounder and a bit extra to acquire him.
  18. That should put the "trade for Crosby" crowd away. He's not heading anywhere now.
  19. Depends on the player/position. I would think an older prospect would be a little more mature and able to handle himself a bit better. Also for a player like Ray Davis who came in a bit older...unless you're planning on signing them to a second contract the age wouldn't be an issue for me as much. But a RB with some age? As a 4 year one contract guy? Sure.

  21. We need more guys that can play with some fire. Guys that step up and make plays. What we we need is a Mawg. Half man, half dawg.
  22. Guy basically saved their season last year when he switched to LT. I get he's older and will be expensive...but man life comes at you fast in the NFL
  23. Exactly. And if it was mainly the injury that did his season in this year, selling him off when his value is at an all time low is a ridiculous proposition IMO. If it was the injury as they seem to believe, him getting right and taking a step forward would likely be worth way more than whomever they would select in the third round of the draft Ok. That explains your overall perspective. If you have already conceded the entire season next year as a non Super Bowl year, I can see why you would give up on a player after an injury plagued year so quickly. You're a pessimist. Got it.
