ESPN says we overpaid for Star
BuffaloBillyG replied to stuvian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Overpayed" but still can cut him next off season with reasonable dead cap hit. If he played well and helps the run d he's worth every penny. -
Trouble in the Talley household?
BuffaloBillyG replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At the very least I could say if this is a true account I pray that they both get the help and strength they need. If it's fiction, she's a hell of a good writer. Really paints a picture well. -
Hypothetical: Browns take QBs at 1 and 4

One of the QBs will still be there at Pick #6
BuffaloBillyG replied to Chuck Schick's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Of course that said you have to remember there are other teams in the NFL that may try and be aggressive. While we sit back and circle the 6 spot, maybe Arizona moves to 5. Maybe a team we aren't currently considering makes a move for a QB. Maybe in his final draft Ozzie goes boys and trades up picks this year and next to get to 5 and grab a QB. Draft day is full of surprises. -
Hi QB's - Visiting Buffalo today and tomorrow!

What I think the Bills will do
BuffaloBillyG replied to elltrain22's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm starting to wonder if the draft plays out poorly for Buffalo and QBs fly off the board with no willing trade partners...would they wait until round 2 and Mike White? Beane was part of the Panther team when they went Clausen in RD 2 and Cam #1 overall the following year. NOT SAYING WE SHOULD. -

Hi QB's - Visiting Buffalo today and tomorrow!

Josh Rosen eats wings with a fork and knife. Sam Darnold can't hold onto his wings. Lamar Jackson can't get a hold of his server to order his wings. Baker Mayfield likes his wings firey. Josh Allen keeps missing his mouth when attempting to bite.- 19 replies

If you like football and grew up in Buffalo/WNY...
BuffaloBillyG replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My sister is a Dolphins fan. She started rooting for them because she 1. Likes the animal. 2. Just wanted to annoy me. Her son is a Dolphins fan because that's who she likes. I honestly don't associate with either much. Total ***hat side of the family. -

I know a lot of actual Browns fans. Most of which are older (65-70 crowd). Most say they grew up Browns fans and their dads were Brown fans. Likely stems from before we had a team I would guess. -
What are your bold predictions for the NFL draft?
BuffaloBillyG replied to billspro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Giants will keep their pick and not go QB. Same with Denver. There will be at least one team that no one expected to take a QB in the first that does. Whoever the Bills draft at QB will spawn at least 5 "I'm done" threads, at least 5 "Don't like it but I trust the process" threads and a WHOLE lotta arguments. -
Ok. That's why Mel Kiper and Todd McShay have such perfect mock drafts...right? The "experts" ball park things. Sometimes they hit...but misses are a MUCH higher %. But feel free to PM me how I'm wrong so we can keep it off this topic. And you completely missed my point. This isn't a typical mock draft. It's a no trade. Within the framework of the system I got my top QB and playmaker. Again, if you wish to discuss actual draft please PM me and we can continue there!

Well, being the guy that took the pick, let me explain. To me and in my eyes alone, a good fit has a lot to do with a player and his success at the next level. It's also a fact that though many pundits pit Darnold at #1 overall, I don't agree with it. Not for Cleveland. This is a team that will likely be in a lot of close games within their division alone. Turnovers are a death sentence for them. They traded a very valuable pick for Tyrod Taylor whose BEST quality is his ability to protect the ball. Tells me the Browns value ball security. That's not Darnold. I'm not a big fan of Allen #1 overall. That left Mayfield or Rosen. While Rosen may be the best overall QB in the draft, I DO question his fit in Cleveland. Not saying he wouldn't thrive, but Baker Mayfield fits what they would need. A guy with heart and fire? PERFECT for reinvigorating that fan base. Has a chance to sit in the QB room with not 1 but 2 guys that are constantly lauded as extremely professional NFL players in Taylor and Stanton. Absolutely a perfect situation in my opinion. Now about Barkley at 1. As I said in the original post where I picked, had this been a typical draft, QB WOULD have gone 1. But withing the constraints of this one, Barkley was the smarter play imo. I felt as if the Giants would go with one of 4 players. Darnold, Chubb, Nelson or Barkley. At 3 I figured they would go with one of Darnold, Rosen, or Allen. By picking the way I did I protected the 25% chance of losing Barkley while still having a solid chance at Mayfield (who was my first choice). And if the Jets took him, I still had Darnold, Rosen or even Allen at 4. TL;DR: I as the Browns GM did get the exact QB I wanted as well as the top playmaker I coveted. Truth be told...on draft Day teams ALWAYS do what the "experts" say they won't.

Smart Coaches Will Pass on Josh Allen
BuffaloBillyG replied to Irv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Diffrent teams go about the draft process in different manners. Here in Buffalo It's been made crystal clear that the coaching staff will have input. Their voices will be heard. However final decisions on the QB come from Beane. I do believe however they will be in agreement of whatever happens. -

Predictions: Buffalo Bills 2019 record
BuffaloBillyG replied to dollars 2 donuts's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can see a small step back record wise. And that's ok. I think we will be competitive and a lot of fun to watch. With a new QB and offense...we may even score some points. I will say 7-9 with a lot of growth towards 2019. Between this off season getting a QB and next off-season having a good chunk of cap space the team will be built and be ready to take over the division when TB12*** retires. -
Nice pick! Was planning on taking him at 33 if still there.

I for one am thankful to see that fans of other teams have equally as bad takes as some fans here. Refreshing. But good natured ribbing aside, welcome here.

In fairness, which teams? There have been reports of "multiple teams" from "sources with knowledge of the situation", but not one team I can think of has gone on the record. Matter of fact most teams say he should be a QB, at least in the media. I think it's more than fair to wonder if "Jackson should be a WR" should be filed under the same heading of "We see Cordy as a guard in the NFL.". That said if he's the choice at 12, we may be in severe trouble imo. ??
