  1. I believe they were in on him a couple years back as well. I remember him saying he almost signed here before re-signing with the Dolphins. Beane does like to circle back to guys they didn't get the first time.
  2. I'll say this. If Beane had wanted to keep Davis as much as he was saying last year he would have found $13M AAV. That's a lot...but not a crippling amount. They were ready to upgrade the position.
  3. Good. Let Mahomes get his nuts grabbed twice a year for a change...
  4. So, we can sign any FA out there and we're spending the early hours of FA on extensions and bringing back our own guys. Tells me we are NOT looking to be aggressive in the least. To the draft ..
  5. Mitch Morse and now Gabe Davis. I sense a trend in Jacksonville...
  6. Yes, key word there is "reworked". If it's a pay cut like Von took, Id be happy about that. Let's see how much this saves...but solid move to make
  7. Oh, I'm sure they would if someone stepped up with an offer that was magnificent. Outside of a franchise QB, almost every player is available at the right compensation. For them, it would make sense to keep him as he's proven that in that offense with what they have around him he can succeed and keep their offense strong. Less of a gamble of production loss rather than rolling with a rookie...and they need a strong offense as their defense has lost a ton of good pieces over the last 2 years.
  8. This most likely IMO ends up with a Higgins extension in Cincinnati. We've seen this before from other players. Also, there is no way the Bengals would be willing to move him to Buffalo and make use potentially better without a SEVERE over pay in draft capital. Keep the picks and take a cost controlled WR in a draft class filled with potential studs
  9. Good dude. Wish him well. Hope he stays healthy.
  10. I suspect the Texans would have interest. Ryans loved this guy while in SF.
  11. Levi was really decent for us. But that was a few years ago. Rather stay younger. Dane Jackson coming back would be about the main "vet depth" move I expect.
  12. I think if Tomlin could manage a locker room with Antonio Brown and Lev Bell in it, he should be able to handle Carlton Banks Jr.
  13. This is my bet. The Eric Washington connection plus being from Chicago and the Bears hanging a ton of cap room. Just makes all the sense in the world **BONUS ANSWER** Gabe Davis- Jacksonville or the NY Giants.
  14. I don't rule out them doing both. No one has mentioned the possibility of them KEEPING Fields on the roster and taking Williams (or whomever) at 1. Waiting until closer to TC to see if a team loses a starter and gets a bit desperate and pays more of a premium on a next year pick out of need. If there isn't a huge trade market for him now, that may be the way.
  15. When he's on, I agree. My biggest complaint about Mayfield has always been his week to week consistency. He goes on streaks where he plays amazingly well and then riffs off a few weeks where he looks like Trent Dilfer. For what the Bucs are investing, it's seems to be a good deal for them and very sensible for Mayfield. Good for both sides.
  16. I think this is far from the only ex-Bill that will be brought in for a look. Giants are my bet for Gabe Davis as well.
  17. Agreed. I think Byard is still viewed very favorably around the league. If he's seeing 7.5/yr there's a solid chance a guy like Stone or Chinn could come in below that.
  18. Being the Bills signed his former position coach there was talk of him being a possibility here. Also good to see where the bar is at the safety position before FA opens being the Bills may be in the safety market. There's not one but two possible tie ins with the Bills.
  19. Some thought he may be an option here. First safety domino falls. 2years $15M base isn't much for a guy with his background and experience. Safety market should be dirt cheap for the Bills.
  20. Say what you will, but they make a nice couple if you ask me.
  21. I do agree that he's always had a bit of an attitude issue. Aside from that however, the Patriots put on an absolute MASTER CLASS of what not to do with a young QB. - Aging coach with old defensive mindset - Lack of prioritizing getting weapons around him -Lack of consistency on the OL - Hiring Matt Patricia as an OC and doubling down with Joe freaking Judge as his QB coach (which is why I can't blame him for seeking answers outside the building) - Job uncertainty with the switching between him and Zappe. Now, I was never high on Jones and didn't think he would amount to much more than a low level starter. However he really wasn't given much of an opportunity or competent coaching either.
  22. Really not a great landing spot for him IMO. Will be firmly behind Duval Barbie. Maybe a year or two with Pederson helps his value next year...but no chance to even compete for playtime for now barring injury.
  23. This is a really nice breakdown and some good solid work by Joe. I agree with the majority of it. I've said elsewhere that Duvernay just seems like a Beane target. Gilman is a really solid S that would fit very well. Not sure I want to bring in Zeke. But that's mainly personal preference. We will need IMO a RB2 as even if they do bring Ty Johnson back, he's not that. If Johnson's back it should be to fight for that RB3/PS RB role. Right now we have Darrynton Evans signed, who Johnson beat out for that role last year. Brian Allen would be a sneaky good get. As would Carl Lawson IMO. I think he's got a little juice left.
