I think it's an "if all things are even or very close" I want to play for a contender. Like, if the Bills are offering a 2/30M contract vs Carolina that's offering a 2/32M contract they would choose the contender. But like Ted DiBiase used to say "Everyone has a price". There's also the fact that with most high level players it's easy for them to take a team like Pittsburgh and talk yourself into the thought process of, "Me signing with them MAKES them a contender." Pittsburgh is always above .500 and routinely in the playoffs. Add DK and whatever their plan is at QB (which they probably assured him on what they were doing there in loose terms) and it's not hard for that elite athlete to think he tips the scale. But yes, a bad team paying a huge contract is always in the mix as well.

Khalil Mack back with the Chargers

Get? Yes. And the last few years Safety has been a position that has seen lower than expected contract numbers by and large. I'm hopeful that's where we are looking in FA. Then DL in the draft. And try and swing a trade for a WR. -
Today is the weirdest day on the NFL calendar

Yeah. A lot of deals have already been worked out for days or longer. A lot of wink and nod deals. Today is just the day we get to hear about them. It's why you see so many players make it to yesterday or earlier today before re-signing with their team. They already know exactly what their offers are looking like. -

This is gonna be a year of stupid high FA contracts even by free agency standards. Beane isn't gonna have it. Get ready for second and third wave FAs that may fit a role at a much more reasonable price. 18M for Mack at this stage is ludicrous. -
This would probably be Rodgers best landing spot IMO. They have Pickens, now DK. A solid defense. And Tomlin knows how to handle head case players. As long as they convince Aaron he's not coming in to be the quasi GM and doesn't have a large say in roster moves it could work out well.

DK Metcalf traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers
BuffaloBillyG replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm willing to bet they do...we just don't know about it until Tomorrow. Be it Darnold, Rodgers....you don't make a move like this without something lines up at QB. There's a wink and nod agreement somewhere. -

Dk's good. He isn't $30M a season good IMO. He will never live up to that contract IMO -
Dell may not play at all this year and if he does who knows how well after that gruesome knee injury. They went into last year with 3 good WRs (Collins, Dell, Diggs). Dell is hurt. Diggs coming off major injury is probably a last resort. They nabbed Kirk to take a lot of Dell's snaps. Still will want that big #2 for Diggs replacement. DK makes a lot of sense.

Ok. That leaves Chargers or Houston to swoop in for Metcalf. Adams would have been nice in Buffalo but I don't think he wanted east coast. Good luck to him. Rams are gonna put up points if they stay healthy and Stafford doesn't nose dive.
-
We'll see. But I wouldn't get hopes too far up. Houston is a real good bet as well. I think most of the smoke around the Bills is just like the DHop smoke a few years back. Mostly fan driven.

I'm betting Green Bay or New England. Both teams have the means and are desperate to upgrade the WR room.

Older, slower, a big name player that will likely be overpaid???? He's a Dolphin...

Browns ink Myles Garrett to an Extension
BuffaloBillyG replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall
I flipped that from the get go. Browns are run so awful I knew they would cave with a huge contract. I do think DK wants the big payday, but I think he knows he's not getting it in Seattle and frankly I don't think he likes the way the new staff uses him. I'm betting he's a Charger at some point soon. -

I called this early on in the original thread. When are people gonna learn that more times than not this is the way these tactics end up with high level players? I swear y'all like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football year after year. -
I've been all aboard the Johnathan Allen train since rumors broke he would be available. He offers help against the run, has pass rush juice, adds leadership. He is literally the perfect piece to plop in the middle of the defense for us it makes too much sense not to. He will have a LOT of teams in on him...but this is the guy I don't want to see Beane cheap out on and let get away. As far as EDGE, I think I would make the move for Matthew Judon. Had a down year last season be I think he would do well here. I also am a fan of Ojulari. I think Mack ends up back with the Chargers. Young would be another gamble I take.

Not sure what gave off the impression that his deal I didn't care for, but I didn't mind his. The only one I find a tad unlikeable so far is the Groot one. And that's only because year in and year out he starts the season well. Gets some sacks then has foot/ankle injuries that slow his production the rest of the year. Would have liked to see him stay productive for an entire year before extending him. I get why they did it, like the player and the number isn't terrible. Just hoping for some consistency. This one was more of a gamble then the others IMO.

Geno Smith to Las Vegas for a 3rd Round Pick

He's ok. He's not DK or JSN. Let alone having both. -

Damn. He went full Von Miller. Maybe we aren't the fan base that gets to find glee in this one. Collectively, we may wanna sit this one out.... -

The FULL Favre? All that would be left is the 🍆 selfie and theft of public money. Neither I would put past Rodgers either...
