Whoa! 11 Jags head to covid list...just now
BuffaloBillyG replied to phypon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lots of people said we had no way to win with our COVID issues. Sometimes things like this happens and teams find new things that worked almost by accident. -
Yes...good was literally the word I used.

One thing that I come away with from yesterday is this... Perhaps the fact that both Beasley (who was good but nothing super special in Dallas) and McK both having success in the slot in this offense has a bit to do with the scheme. This is an offense that is rooted in the same philosophy that the Pats ran with Welker/Edelman and sometimes Troy Brown before that, I believe in the slot...with tweaks of course. Now I'm not saying neither player has talent and it's all on scheme. They do each bring something special to the spot (McK-speed; Beasley precision). Daboll uses them somewhat in different ways. Love that with McK out there it adds the jet sweep possibilities. Bottom line is if McKenzie doesn't resign and Beasley is a cap cut...I think there are other guys that could flourish in the system.

I always like the one where he stiff armed Van Noy last year against the Dolphins and dropped him right on his arse.

So, build the dome?

Well, then take the Marlins. They should be good for a 4th match birdie.

They had Mike Davis as their lead back to start the year. Struck gold with Patterson playing well as a duel threat runner/receiver. Their rookie TE Pitts was just starting to find his footing when Ridley walked away from the game. The result is this. Because Ridley left there is no outside threat at WR. A couple guys that would be #2 or 3 receivers. Teams bracket cover Pitts, take him basically out. It's led to them overusing Patterson and his plays becoming predictable. His body is also looking worn out at this point in the season. He's good for a short TD run a game at this point. Ryan has lost a step or 2 but is still a solid and consistent starter.

The flag had nothing to do with the Initial Contact. It was 100% what had appeared to be a pull down 4-5 yards out of bounds. Which most times will result in a flag. I also heard Davis acknowledge that he looked to be trying to help Jones up and that his only questions past that was "Why take the chance and put your hands on him out of bounds like that?". However, in a bang-bang play humans are more imclu ed to try and help people not get hurt...which is what Hughes reacted to. It's one of those plays where, yup his intent was good and shouldn't have been flagged....however it would have been understandable had the call went against us.

Not only 18 game season but extended playoffs as well. For some teams that could be up to 3 extra games a year from what it was last season.
-
The issue with these micro sized slot guys as that they are constantly dinged up. Opportunities will present themselves for both to see snaps the rest of the year.
-
From what they showed yesterday it looked like a hammy or groin tweak. Add in what looked to be a shoulder issue after the suplex yesterday. Diggs is a tough dude, though. Gonna take quite a lot (injury wise) to keep him from playing the next 2 weeks. (And playoffs)

Well, the way the play looked in real speed and from the angle the refs see it AND it being a QB that was one the receiving end...I can completely understand why the flag was thrown. Yes when you slow it down and look at the TV angle you can see the intent and what happened better. Refs of the field don't get that luxury so can't blame them for that. But great to see them get together, likely with some help from the booth and make the right call.

From the way they played today...looks like he gave them some "testicular fortitude".

Started out the season with some offensive potential. That rookie TE Pitts has some breakout ability. Patterson was a big threat both in rush and receiving games. With Ridley on the outside they could attack on many levels. Once Ridley walked away it allowed teams focus on Pitts. He's seen a lot of bracket coverage. Patterson was leaned on more and has really slowed down. Matt Ryan is still decent. Not as good as he was a few years ago but capable. I'd compare him his year to Drew Bledsoe....the Dallas years. The best chance the Falcons have it beating the Bills at home may be that our COVID issues remain a problem...and even then we should still win.
