  1. I believe he's a FA
  2. I found this article, which likely gave rise to some others stating the same thing. Which likely is what birthed this post. Not a bad read. No rumors. Just somebody spitballing.
  3. Getting close to that free lunch prize, myself 😂😂
  4. Ironically enough, if Lovie is hired and McCown is brought on as an assistant (which is extremely plausible IMO) then then it could easily be that Lovie is the placeholder while McCown gets his coaching experience.
  5. I think you are going to get a LOT of pushback on the Poyer comments. Doesn't mean you're wrong. It feels like the accolades he's getting now are more about making up for years where he deserved it. Now, he's still a solid player. A leader on that side of the ball. But tomorrow always comes and players get older. The thing that I think solidifies Poyer's spot is that our defense lacks playmakers...and he makes plays in the passing game. At least for this coming season.
  6. Running a scheme doesn't mean you run it verbatim, though. Coaches that have success run their scheme with wrinkles and tweaks based on players they have. I do concede that new coaches often find players that fit what they want. However, as said above IF Geiseki is brought back I would say it's because McDaniel has a plan in place on how to fit him in.
  7. A good coach adapts his scheme to fit his players. No one is saying Geiseki will be asked to do what Kittle can. He will be asked to play to his strengths if McDaniel is as good as people claim. I never understand the notion where people believe that everything must be recreated line by line when coaches take over new teams. Geiseki won't be Kittle. Waddle won't be Deebo. But both can be used in different ways to exploit matchups. And from what many say about McDaniel he is good at finding ways to play to what his players do well and not forcing square pegs into round holes.
  8. The 2 thoughts I had about this hire that I do not like: 1. If they retain Geiseki I think he finally gets used to his potential. 2. They will find many different ways to get Waddle the ball. He's not Deebo...but he's pretty dangerous with that speed. Hope we play them for the first time after week 5 or 6 so we have an idea who he uses in what way.
  9. Based off statements like this I have to believe many hate the rules because they don't comprehend why they are in place and what the team losing the coach is being rewarded for.
  10. That is a great point. Sometimes GMs don't want to hear about how bad their teams are. Point of pride, I suppose. I would think, however, a new GM fresh into the role would value his candor and knowledge. Be something that may move him up the list a bit. Case by case basis, for sure. I'm actually intrested now to see how often he has interviewed someplace with an established GM as opposed to someone new looking to retool. Looks like if I get time today I know the wormhole I'll be delving into.
  11. Lovie should get a lifetime contract and full control of the team just based off his beard game.
  12. I called it upthread a bit. Makes sense. There is no way they can offer the job to McCown. And if they hire Flores it would appear he got the job just to appease him. Would open the door to more lawsuits by minority candidates that may feel all they have to do is sue and they jump to the front of the line. Lovie has prior experience, is on staff already and would be a minority here...which would look better.
  13. Not sure. Since you bring it up could you do a breakdown of what players we have that have the skill set to play in the wide 9? Perhaps some ideas for replacements for those that don't that should be in FA and draft? Appreciate it!
  14. The only thing I can think of is that the Texans may have someone already on staff (Pep Hamilton? Lovie?) that they are considering promoting. I cannot imagine that right now they would be as tone deaf as to hire McCown as HC. (Why not bring him in as an offensive assistant or position coach?). And I just can't see them hiring Flores with all the distractions that would be thrown on top of the Watson continuing drama. Though Flores did say he informed the Texans of his intention to file his lawsuit during his interview. So it's nothing they were caught off guard with.
  15. Appearently it's down to Flores and McCown officially. This about to get GOOD.
  16. Ve vere vondering vhere you vent! You vill join us for Pro Bowl and Snitzel today, yes?
  17. I think they should switch it to an "old timers" game. Broken hips as far as the eye can see. Now THAT'S football.
  18. Agree the list is very strong this year. Will be interesting to see who gets to see the Market and who is resigned. Williams is a guy that may get a tag. Crowder and and Kirk would fit what we do. I also like DJ Chark. Chark is coming off an injury and may need to sign a 1 year "prove it". He's a guy that reminds me a bit of Gabe Davis, however possesses more speed.
  19. True. However, there are 3 other main talking points people like to use when talking about why he's not been hired. Zero of them have a lick of credibility IMO. 1. He doesn't call his own plays. There are a good number of head coaches that have never called plays. There are a good number of coaches that have called plays and turn duties over to their Coordinator and don't call plays anyway. See; McDermott, Sean. 2. He doesn't interview well/speak well/is unprepared. I've provided links in this post that refute that. 3. Kansas City plays too late in the season for him to be considered. The Super Bowl runs hurt him. Oddly enough in this very cycle the Vikings are waiting for Kevin O'Connell. A 36 year old that has only been a coach for 5 seasons, never called his own plays. What's even more confusing is that most of the people (not saying you in particular) have never seen the man work. They have no clue what he does. They have never heard his voice. Obviously have never sat in on interviews, film studies or know anything about him other than what it says in his Wikipedia page and the talking points that others have stated over and over.
  20. And why do you believe that? Because other people say that? Because someone sent a Tweet on Twitter? And do you really believe after all the interviews he's done he's not improved? Without looking too hard (front page of 1 google search) I found an article that seems to disagree. https://www.nfl.com/news/chiefs-oc-eric-bieniemy-strong-interview-falcons-in-the-mix-next-head-coach "Bieniemy, who is considered one of the top head-coaching candidates and who has interviewed for multiple head-coaching openings, "prepared, knew everything about the team, had a great plan and is a bona fide candidate," the source said." That sounds very different than the picture you paint. Attached is an article that includes a 2 minute impromptu interview at a highly emotional moment. (Right after Chiefs won Super Bowl). Gave thoughtful, meaningful and insightful answers. Well composed and easily coveys his message. You know, just in case you've never actually heard the mans voice. https://ftw.usatoday.com/2020/02/chiefs-eric-bieniemy-interview-video-head-coach-jeff-allen-super-bowl
  21. And yet, Joseph was hired as a HC in the NFL. As was Matt Patricia who had a similar accusation thrown his way. So, teams not hiring Bieniemy and using his "rap sheet" on incidents from some that are almost 30 years old seems a tad disingenuous IMO.
  22. And it was so terrible that in 2010 the same college brought him back (with promotion to OC) and in 2020 were reportedly ready to offer him the HC position before he declined.
  23. Oh, you mean like an owner? That's the person that year in and year out is the constant in an organization. Or maybe the QB? Pro Bowl player? Chuck Noll was a "main representation". Tom Landry. Don Shula. Guys that where out on front for decades. Teams hire and fire a coach every 3 years. Doesn't make them a "main representive". They are just another replacable cog in the machine.
  24. Counter point: Couldn't he be paired with an OC that has called plays and let that OC call the offense? Many coaches do it that way. Follow up question: Ken Dorsey hasn't ever called plays. Was he a bad choice to pair with a defensive HC that will likely be handing the keys to the Corvette offense over to him? Obviously
  25. I am not sure how his oddball contract works...but if Hill plays primarily at QB doesn't his pay go significantly up as well? Not sure they could afford that. Also, I know he wasn't the GM...but I feel like Payton had a say so in retaining him to that big deal...then sticks the incoming coach with him. They may be forced to roll with Ian Book. Not even thinking they can clear the funds to make a run at resigning Winston.
