For those still upset we didn’t trade up for Jordan Addison…
BuffaloBillyG replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
At least he doesn't lie in his bio... It's dumb behavior and behavior like that is par for the course being that young and suddenly wealthy. Luckily no one was hurt and hopefully the young man learns from this. -
Can we do a follow up post titled "Mike Tolbert is fast..."?

Jets are releasing WR Denzel Mims if they can't trade him.
BuffaloBillyG replied to Gregg's topic in The Stadium Wall
I get the thought process, but if they thought so little of him that they were cutting bait before camp opens I highly doubt they would fear trading him within the division. -
It's so cliche for a team to randomly add black helmets to any alternate uniform. Some make a bit more sense as black is one of their main colors (Panthers/Saints) while ones like this do not. Which is why I give the Browns of all teams credit for introducing that crisp white look. This look for the Colts is just plain dumb. I want to see a team go the opposite direction if they introduce a different color. Forget the forced black appearance and go with pink. Guaranteed to be a top seller as it stands out and is different.

I think statistically speaking it's more likely for the Bills to miss the playoffs than make the Super Bowl. As stated before (and as we saw last year) one or two key injuries can prematurely end a season. Add in other off field factors and issues...it's a long road to make it and only 1 of 16 in the AFC will. However, I believe the Bills make the playoffs. Be it division winners or even a wild card and if healthy and playing sound football they can win anywhere against any team and ride to the Super Bowl.

Ugh...BR is garbage. Wait, they said 13 wins? BR knows their stuff.
-
I know I'm in the minority here but I really don't care about the division. Make the playoffs and be playing your best football with a reasonably healthy roster and this team can win anywhere against anyone. The only thing I see as a huge bonus is the #1 seed because of the week off and 1 less game.

Danny Dimes. How he got that contract after tossing 15 TDs last year is beyond me. I get the Rodgers contract. Gives them a shot at something. Called going "all in". Carr, I think will do ok in NO. He'll be overall mediocre IMO but he's still cheaper than Jones somehow. Lamar will Lamar. That's a ton of money but if he stays healthy he could have them contending for their division. But the Giants with or without Barkley were poised for a drop this year. They had a cake schedule (of which they didn't look dominating against bad teams. Barely squeezed by) and curiously didn't add much to that offense aside from a broken down TE. I see them as a 6-11 squad this year that's vastly overpaying a sub par QB...and that's not where you want to be. Rooting for Daboll but I just don't see it.

Paperwork. Getting their direct deposit set up. CPR training. Tour of the area. Possibly a Dave and Busters run. O'Cyrus Torrence is entered in a tractor pull. And if there is time and they all behave McDermott takes them for ice cream.

Spoiler alert: Diggs will not be there. He is not a rookie so McDermott is "not concerned". Will edit this if the "concerned level" rises.

Giants and Barkley do not reach an agreement on a new contract
BuffaloBillyG replied to Gregg's topic in The Stadium Wall
Both teams and RBs are running in a vicious circle. RBs heading into second contracts want long term financial security with a high guarantee because they know their career is consistently shorter and one bad injury could take it all away completely. They also know that they can be replaced for cheaper anytime. Teams don't want long deals with high guarantees because they know there's a good chance that RB will hit the wall and stop being productive before the end of the deal leaving behind a load of dead cap. They also know they can find better value year in and year out. I think if a RB is smart taking 1 year deals after his rookie contract would give them a better chance to hit bigger paydays than holding on for a long term deal. More likely to find a team looking for a RB upgrade to shell out higher for a 1 year investment and no further cap implications than a team sinking big bucks into a RB for 3-5 years. -
Random preseason OLine rankings <edited>

The bolded reasons I wholeheartedly agree with. Brown very well could take some steps forward. I'm not talking Pro Bowl level. Would be great but I don't see that kind of jump. Just making it to average would be a noticeable jump. My biggest concern with Brown is his back. Back injuries for big guys like this are often chronic once they get them. Very easy to re-tweak as well. Even being that they brought Shell in and still have Q (who I do NOT want on the field) I wish they would have grabbed a bit better depth at RT for this reason. -

The OL looks pretty accurate to their real life counterparts. Just standing in a large group not blocking anyone. They don't even have to pay for their seats.- 35 replies

Giants and Barkley do not reach an agreement on a new contract
BuffaloBillyG replied to Gregg's topic in The Stadium Wall
Oh I agree with pretty much everything. However, there is something I call the "Poyer Principal" and it's a relatively new thing. Because of social media fans feel more connected to players being able to get them to respond through places like Twitter or have a chat with their wives. It's social suck up from the fans but you see a LOT of "man they better pay you" ect ect. Jordan and his wife are very good at that...even though he's historically been a "let's redo my deal" type of player. And man, I'll never forget the day the Bills released Smith, Thomas and Reed. One of the saddest moments of my fandom here. -

And he has denied ever being offered or turning down those numbers. Many times. I don't understand why people read a tweet and accept that as fact when we really don't know what was offered, what was being talked about or what he was seeking. No attack on you...but a very high percentage of what we see from "insiders" on offered numbers is either agent or team driven BS. -

I believe there are some people in New Orleans that would dispute that sentiment... -
Hopkins released by Arizona (7/16: signed by Titans)
BuffaloBillyG replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree. The Bills need something in addition. Unfortunately, they had invested already in the WR room before Hopkins was made an option. I would suspect that after talking to Hopkins (which the Bills reportedly did) and Arizona about compensation the investment wasn't worth it, so Beane went to plan B and invested a 1st round pick in a pass catcher. After investing so much in cap and draft assets I can understand not wanting to invest highly at that point. Now, while we need something else in addition to Diggs, nothing says it has to come all from 1 player. The NFL is a matchup league. It's up to Dorsey now to find where the mismatch is every week and attack that. We can run 12 (well, 11.5) personal. We have speed. We have runners that can run between the tackles and runners with speed that can bounce outside as well as catch passes. And soooo many more options. Not to mention we have Allen. If we have a different guy to step into that "2nd guy" role every week...so be it. This season is, IMO just as important for Dorsey to find ways to exploit these matchups and use these guys as it is on these guys stepping up and into a role. And if all the new options don't click for whatever reason I wouldn't rule out a deadline trade for a WR as we have a lot of draft capital next year. The sky really isn't falling IMO. -

Spoiler alert: No team has someone like Kelce. He's a one of one at this point from a skills and mismatch level. This doesn't mean there is no other team in the NFL can take risks on supporting cast. This is also being a tad misleading as Kelce is their top target. We have Diggs who, production wise is on the same level. In my OP I compared how Moore and Shakir had the same season. Also how Harty and Toney were both red alert injury risks. Now add to that the production of Kelce vs Diggs is equivalent. On to of that we still have Davis, Knox and Kincaid. KC seems like they are the ones a bit thinner to me. -

BuffaloBillyG replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Skyy Moore had largely the same season that Shakir had last year. Neither could find snaps. Neither appeared to gain the coaching staff's trust. Moore was nothing special last year. Toney mave have the worst hamstrings in NFL history. There's a chance he misses a ton of time every year. How people can legitimately say that those 2 are better investments than Shakir and Harty at this point because Shakir couldn't find the field and Harty has had injury issues is laughable. Now, 3 years down the road perhaps it's a different tune if Toney gorilla glues those hamstrings together and Moore finds a map so he knows where to go on the field...but for now it's the same picture. -
