  1. I was under the impression that's what the other 364 days of the year were.
  2. I'm rather shocked that Tweet didn't start out "Now, hear me out..."
  3. Manningcast should just be it's own channel at this point. Like, yes absolutely watch the MNF games...but add TNF and all day and night on Sunday watching 3 games with them. Heck, I'd tune in to watch UFC, MLB, NBA, WWE, Survivor or Desperate Housewives if they were adding their commentary. Friday Night Movie of the Week with the Mannings? I'm in.
  4. Well, I do agree that the Bills gave the best possible support they could and all the stability in the world to Allen's development. However it takes someone with the mindset that Allen has within himself to be great to turn out the way he has. All the great coaching in the world would be useless without the players inner drive to succeed. Not every player has that mentality. What is it the young people call it these days? "Mamba Mentality?" I did like me some Edwards. Looking back on it today, I believe his physical ceiling would have been an Alex Smith type. 8 or 9 win seasons and maybe sneak into the playoffs here and there. We were just so starved for even a mediocre QB at the time that he looked amazing for what we were used to. Josh Allen has us spoiled. Had we not gotten him we would still be looking at QBs like Mac Jones and Tua and wishing we had someone as "promising" as them
  5. And I believe that's a logical outlook. So with guys like Smith or Mac what do you do? Build a strong, physical defense. Powerful run game. Passing offense built on play action and one read looks. Play more cautious and try to keep the score close. Win the game in the 4th quarter. For the Patriots right now...I like their run game. Their defense has some players (Dugger would have looked so good in a Bills uni). They have no offensive flow. It just looks like a bunch of random plays being called.
  6. "Bill Walsh gave his seal of approval to Trent Edwards so you KNOW he's going to be great!"
  7. Well over a decade. Back to the Fouts years in my opinion. At one time their offense had Drew Brees, LaDainian Tomlinson and Antonio Gates on offense and still couldn't get it done.
  8. There's a ton of speculation here. However, word is that Mac is actually a very hard worker. It's his physical limitations that hold him back more than anything. Mac coming from Bama actually tells me that Belichick knew way more about Mac than most would as it's very well documented how close Saban and Belichick are. I think the issue is more that Belichick knows his time on the sidelines is winding down. There is zero chance that he approached this season as a "tank" year. Like him or hate him I will say that losing is not something he would embrace at any level or any reason. He no longer has Brady (and the benefit of phantom calls that come with Brady) to mask the fact that he has always made questionable calls on gameday. After 20 years of Brady, Belichick now has to relate to a guy in his early 20s (not an easy generation for a 70 year old man to relate to). One constant in his tenure as the HC is his reluctance to bring in new voices from the outside. He's always just brought back coaches with NE ties that failed elsewhere or promoted his son. I believe he truly thought that Patricia and Judge would do a great job and rather than bring in someone with new concepts and vision for the future he still is clinging to the "Patriot Way". Trouble is he doesn't have anyone like Brady with the aura of success carrying out those marching orders and being the golden example anymore.
  9. I may get some blow back on this. So be it. While Mac Jones (and Zappe, for that matter) are limited as passers the Patriots really mishandled the whole offense this year. Jones will never be "HIM". But, with excellent coaching and a good system to support the things he does do well he is easily one of the top 32 QBs in the NFL. I'd put him in the low to mid 20s. That's where QB play in the NFL is at these days. Turning the offense over to Matt Patricia and Joe Judge as his QB coach was borderline insane. Neither Jones or Zappe will ever be that generational "franchise QB" in my opinion. However it wouldn't shock me at all if either or both go on to have a nice 10-12 year NFL career in the bridge QB/high end backup category.
  10. My AFC Skill position roster using this season only. QB1: Josh Allen QB2: Kermit Mahomes RB1: Nick "Stop calling me Bradley" Chubb RB2: Josh Jacobs WR1: Tyreek Hill WR2: Stefon Diggs WR3: Ja'marr Chase WR4: Davante Adams WR5: Michael Pittman TE1: Travis Kelce TE2: Mark Andrews Just for fun here is my NFC Skill position roster for this season only. QB1: Jalen Hurts QB2: Geno Smith RB1: Saquon Barkley RB2: Miles Sanders WR1: Justin Jefferson WR2: Cooper Kupp WR3: AJ Brown WR4: Mike Evans WR5: Chris Olave TE1: George Kittle TE2: Tyler Higbee
  11. The Chargers starting the season with big FA moves, trades and setting expectations high just to lay a big steaming pile when the season starts is the most Charger thing that could happen. Chargers always gonna Charger. It's a tradition unlike any other...
  12. Mac Jones was rated higher than Von Miller on the NFL 100 list. I don't want to hear any nonsense about the players knowing who's the best again.
  13. Through 7 weeks of NFL football Giants QB Danny "Dimes" has more yards rushing (343) than Najee Harris (329). Josh Allen has more TD passes (17) then the Bills have punts (11) Jared Goff has more passing yards than Matt Stafford, Geno Smith has more passing yards that Russ Wilson, and Joe Flacco and Baker Mayfield STILL have more passing yards than Justin Fields...even though Baker and Joe haven't played in weeks.
  14. Ballard is most likely done as well. Reports are Irsey is growing tired of both. However considering that Reich spent 3 years as QB Coach and offensive coordinator in San Diego with Phillip Rivers and the went to Philly where he coached both Wentz and Foles...I doubt those 3 were brought in without his input. Ryan is a tad more random...but it likely was their last option at QB once Rodgers, Russ and everyone else were signed or traded. In any event, it may very well be time for fresh eyes on the problems in Indy.
  15. OMG...the ENTIRE post season would be a trap game!
  16. I would much rather they actually USE Singletary and slowly bring Cook along with a few extra touches a game. I've seen a couple Browns games this year and Hunt doesn't have the same explosion he had 2-3 years ago.
  17. This new rule is horrible. Way too subjective. It's great to protect players from further injury but at some point it will cost a team a game. I can see Allen taking a hit and getting up slower than usual. The refs rule that they suspect a concussion and he's disqualified from the game with no chance of coming back when he doesn't even suffer a concussion.
  18. Tough set of circumstances for the kid. Hope he heals up. He was fun to watch even if it was for the Jets.
  19. Ryan may have an injury but I think the Colts are using it as a way to get Ryan out of the lineup and let him save face. He has by and large been atrocious. Ehlinger flashed for them in the preseason. Looked real sharp. In any event, I believe this is the slow rattle of death on the Frank Reich era in Indy.
  20. I think it's odd that you state that they beat the Dolphins with their 3rd string backup, yet ignore that their 2 losses were with the corpse of Joe Flacco at QB. Not that Wilson is a world beater by any means. It's easy to discount teams these days. It's much easier to just say "Jets bad" or "Dolphins bad" than to acknowledge the elephant in the room. This season outside of 4 or maybe 5 teams..."NFL Bad". There are so many poorly constructed teams. Look at what the 49ers just spent for CMC. Yes he's great. But they already have Wilson who is solid. They have Mitchell coming off IR. They use Deebo to run. Perhaps they should have spent those picks on a QB. The age of parity has almost become the age of parody when it comes to quality games. Thursday games are often completely unwatchable. QB play is atrocious league wide (again except for a select few). Every team has a chance to win on almost any Sunday. What makes a team like the Jets dangerous in a game by game situation is that they have a very solid defense. That will help keep most games close right off the bat. They have (had) a solid run game and were able to get some solid special team plays and pull off wins. However wins like against the Packers, Dolphins and especially that wild comeback win against the Browns get young players to "buy in" and believe they can roll with anyone. Confidence can be a great friend when all else in about even. In any event up to this point in the season the Jets have lined up for 7 games and won 5 of them. That's not an accident. Their schedule is not very tough at all. They can stockpile wins and hit the playoffs. Not that they will be anything other than 1 and done...but making the playoffs this year would be a HUGE win for them. Now, I'm not saying that head to head they have a chance against the Bills just yet. However they are being built very well and have a young and talented core of players. Now they just have to figure out the QB spot.
  21. They way things have looked so far this year, Buffalo should destroy the Packers. Like one of those 40-13 games that isn't even as close as the score looks. Josh should be out of the game by midway through the 3rd quarter type drubbing. But this is the NFL and I've learned over the years that what "should" happen and what "does" happen are rarely the same thing. I'm still expecting a Bills win. But I think it's going to be a 27-20 game.
  22. One of the smartest decisions he has made so far was to let Kafka call the plays. Kafka has done a solid job and it's allowed Daboll to run the team instead of focusing on offense. That's why it's silly to me that teams focus on hiring these young offensive savants that may have great ideas on how to run an offense...but are terrible at running a team. Kingsbury comes to mind.
  23. Carter isn't bad as his backup. However, the Jets whole offense has been very poor aside from a big play here and there by Hall. Thier defense is good. However if Hall misses time that's a huge blow to their offense. I wouldn't rule anything out at this point. Perhaps he just has Darnold's old locker and the cleaning staff is terrible.
  24. Looked like spleen. Tough break for the rookie runner.
  25. Rodgers isn't coming with squat. His head is fried, he acts like he's too good for Packers (and maybe skill wise he's not wrong). Let me put it like this. I'll take "Washed up former NFL greats for $800." This QB was once great, however has eaten all the Packers cap money, decided he doesn't want to teach rookies, is more worried about outside football interests and found Legumus The God of Mushrooms. "Who is A-a-ron Rodgers?"
