  1. I think we will see more 5 man blitzes than we have in a long time. The biggest factor IMO is we no longer have Edmunds and that wingspan clogging the middle. That will change the whole approach to what they can do on defense.
  2. I will go with: O'Cyrus Torrence Gervon Dexter I think the Bills try and work on both lines early in the draft. Focus on Safety, WR, and possibly LB help a bit later than most want to believe.
  3. So, what's everyone's upset special this week? I actually am going with Detroit over the Packers.
  4. Had White played this week and aggravated anything on the poor Jets stadium turf...the same people bashing that he's inactive this week would suddenly be saying "Stupid McDermott playing White on that field. What a dumb decision".
  5. You're already behind...
  6. Sometimes high caliber athletes coming off serious injury have a harder time being mentally ready than physically ready. The knee heals but there is still some fear and uncertainty involved. Now I'm not saying with 100% certainty that is what is going on...but it really wouldn't shock me if he's going through some confidence issues in relation to how the knee will respond come game time.
  7. To quote the (not) late and (not) great Douglas Marrone: "Obviously"
  8. He gets to practice against Diggs and Davis all week. Think that will suffice. lol
  9. Not shocked and frankly kind of relieved that White's first game back will not be on that poor stadium turf.
  10. McD made it a point to say this week that getting Hines in on Tuesday as opposed to Monday has a surprising effect on getting him into the gameplan. I take this statement at face value. I think giving Hines a very light day today also gives the nod to James Cook that "hey, you're still part of our plans" With that in mind: 2 carries for 6 yards 1 catch for 9 yards 2 PR 14 yards. Fans will be disappointed and win or lose the hot takes on the trade will be magic all week.
  11. Offense: I expect the Jets CBs to hold their own on the outside against Diggs and Davis. I think Diggs will still get some grabs...but I'm going to venture to say it will be his lowest output of the season. So, needing some other playmakers to step up...I see this as a McKenzie/Shakir game. Defense: Hamiln may be my new favorite player. Love the way he flies around and lays hits. Ok, his coverage is somewhat lacking at times...buut the guy is a difference maker and I believe the way he has played along with the way Poyer is on the wrong side of 30 and has been unable to stay healthy this year, Hamlin has a real chance to play his way to the starting role next season and beyond.
  12. I believe most of the reason that there is a high coaching turnover is that owners and GMs often get blinded by stats of offenses and defenses that coaches run, rather than what really matters...can the coach relate to and lead a group full of men. This is also, by and large why I believe most college coaches fail at the NFL level. They have wonderful ideas but struggle to motivate players that cannot be motivated by fear and intimidation tactics. Coaches that are successful are successful for a reason. They are leaders first and foremost. They relate to the players, motivate and teach. Off your list I see a few guys that would fit that bill for me. DeMeco Ryans is an obvious choice. From things I've heard Mike Kafka would be one to keep a close eye on. And depending on the situation on my team...yes, Leslie Frazier. I thought he was actually the perfect guy for the Texans last year when they hired Culley. A calm steady coach after the hectic chaos of Bill O'Brein would have fit well...and that's the route they ended up going with Culley. Main difference is the experience level as a HC would have given a bit more of a legit chance. Houston seems to have gone that route again this year with Lovie.
  13. Put into modern terms...Ray Guy was HIM.
  14. I agree and to my point that I said that everyone not named Baker has loved him. It's not OBJ that would draw attention to himself as "The Piece that won aSB for the Bills". Rather that would of course become a media talking point. No fault of his....
  15. A counter point: CMC joined the 49ers on a Friday. 2 days later he was up to snuff enough for 10 touches against the Chiefs. Now, I realize that CMC and Hines are different people in different situations. However getting Hines in on Tuesday and already practicing (and who knows if extra work has been put in after practice. Knowing Allen and reading about Hines....I would bet there is) there isn't really any reason that Dorsey can't have 8-10 plays scripted up with Hines in mind. I expect him to be active this week as the prime PR and see 10-12 snaps...especially if we happen to get up big. He's a pro.
  16. Well, much like Odell's knee I'm torn on this. On the one hand you can never have too many playmakers. If the knee is up to snuff than he makes the offense better. I have no qualms about his attitude because it seems like everyone not named Baker Mayfield that has played with him absolutely loves him. And Baker is a tool, so I'll discount his feelings square away. Actually, for me it's the opposite and I feel like he would fit in extremely well with the cast of characters we already have in the locker room. On the negative side I feel like this roster that we have is good enough to compete for and win a Super Bowl already. Adding Odell would shift the focus to it being all him that put us over the top if we do win it all. Also, barring an injury to the WR room I just don't see where it makes sense to add him. If we do sign him...who gets the boot? Diggs and Davis are locks. With how many GMs reportedly liked Shakir I can't see Beane subjecting him to waivers and losing him for the future for a few games of OBJ. Kumerow is of value in multiple spots as is McKenzie as a slot/gadget/returner. Odell only plays WR, and not sure they want 3 WRs that only contribute to offense. My gut feeling is that unless there is another injury to the WR room they roll with what they have being that they added a potential playmaker at the trade deadline in Hines and Odell heads in another directinon. (My top 3 guesses are Minnesota, Philly and San Francisco in that order)
  17. They will likely get a lot of pressure with 4, leaving 7 guys dropping back to fight for Wilson's likely INTs. There will be a few time that I think they throw a 5th guy into the pass rush to take Wilson by surprise an possibly force a mistake. Feels like a game we could see Taron blitz from his spot around the edge or Hamlin one or twice up the middle.
  18. I'm actually starting to think that the first few games that White comes back he's maybe better suited to be the #2 CB behind Dane until he's fully back up to speed. He'll likely overtake the top CB spot back...but the play of Dane combined with the play of Elam and Benford really makes White a luxury to have coming back. What a great problem to have!
  19. The Jets have a very aggressive pass rush, for sure. You know what slows down a blistering pass rush and helps the o-line out? A few well timed screen passes. You know what Nyheim Hines is good at? Catching screen passes and hitting those afterburners. Now, I'm not saying that Ken Dorsey would build a gameplan with the shiny new toy being a large part of the plan after only having a few practices with the team. That's something only a psychopath would do.
  20. Ok, so what you are proposing has merit based on use of the RB position from the first part of the season. However, when you get into the nuts and bolts about projecting future touches for fantasy purposes there is a lot to factor in. Some is rather subjective and some is pretty basic common sense. For instance, while rushing attempts have been limited to 17 a game as you say...the question to ask is why and how the game script played into that. So, when projecting game scripts going forward I see 2 things that jump off the page. First off is that the overall quality of opponent takes a nose dive. We should be playing from far ahead pretty often. This would lead to a few more rush attempts a game, ideally. Second thing to look at is the often dreaded weather conditions. We have been fortunate so far this season and if the other thread on here is accurate the Bills should see better weather than they did last year. But this is still Buffalo weather which can change rather quickly. One example of the Bills is bad weather is the Bills-Falcons game from last year. While Allen still attempted 26 passes, we saw Motor and Moss combine for 28 rushes. McK had one and Allen had FIFTEEN. I suspect that will not continue. So that's 44 combined rushes on the day. I believe where you may see the difference in game scripts like this is that Motor would see his normal cold weather work load (about 20 carries). Hines, who has shown well in cold weather games may see 10-12 of those. Allen would ideally not carry 15 times. That opens a bunch of carries for Cook. Factor him in for Moss's 5 and a few of Allen's and that puts him around 10 carries before even factoring in the passing game. Again this is one example, but later in the season and playing against lesser opponents I would project an increase of running plays due to possible weather and playing from a large lead. It's not an exact science, of course...but my projections usually serve well for fantasy purposes. Bottom line...stash Jimbo Cook now...win your league later.
  21. Shakir really didn't have much fantasy value (redraft leagues) to begin with. I don't see a change. McKenzie is very TD dependent even in PPR leagues. Both should be left on the waiver wire. Cook is an interesting guy to pick up and stash if he's available. I don't see him being much value for the next month or so for fantasy....but by the time Fantasy Playoffs start he should be steadily getting 12-15 touches a game even with the addition of Hines.
  22. That's where Nyheim's an instant upgrade. As the old saying goes "Hines sight is 20/20".
  23. So many good stories involved in this game. Let the Ahmad Rashad Bowl begin: - Frazier former Viking coach - Diggs/Jefferson and the trade that made both teams better - Cook brothers - Horrible Harry Revenge Game - Vikings looking to pull a huge upset the way the Bills did last time they played - Josh's 1st hurdle. - Possible Super Bowl preview - Both teams 0-4 in Super Bowls All in all that Vikings offense is solid. Cook, Jefferson, TJ Hock and the corpse of Adam Theilin is a tough day. I think we have the guys to do well though. Gonna be a good game.
  24. When I think of a typical Bills/Jets game I expect a more low scoring, chippy, physical slogfest. I don't see this game being different. This is the kind of game I can see Josh Allen spending way too much time trying to go at Sauce to test him. Allen will win some and lose some there. I think the Jets defense will do just enough to frustrate the offense and keep the crowd into it. Jets play a lot of man so I expect the Bills to try and use McKenzie early. I'm thinking they use Sauce on Gabe for the most part and try to bracket Diggs with Reed and a safety. Don't sleep on Reed, either. He's having a great year so far. That leaves McK, Knox, Motor, Cook and newly acquired Hines to step up. Out of that group I think Cook sees the most success. Jets are pretty good against the run. I think Cook takes the Hines trade a bit to heart. Something to keep in mind...while the Bills were making a team that could beat the Chiefs...the Jets have been making a team crafted with beating the Bills in mind. The Jets have been built pretty well (sans QB) and I believe will have way more long term success than a team like the Dolphins as long as they give Saleh enough time and don't pull the plug. While Saleh does come across as a meathead coach...I do believe he's a very solid HC and might have the perfect bravado to survive the NY/NJ media. That being said...Allen does seem to play well against his defense. On their offense vs. our defense...Zach Wilson may not see the end of this game. There is no way that offensive line can slow our 4 man rush. He's going to get HIT. And while he is very elusive in the pocket he seems to like to scramble behind the line and then heave some poor pass upfield rather than tuck and run like an Allen or Mahomes would and get something out of nothing. He will throw at least 4 or 5 passes that could be intercepted. Defense just needs to catch them. I like the Jets skill position players. Wilson is the forgotten rookie on the team because of how explosive Sauce and Hall have been, but the dude can play. Berrios has many fans on this board. Carter and Robinson are a really solid RB duo. TL;dr: I like the way the Jets have been built and think they have a talented young roster. What they don't have is a QB. We do. And that QB we have will make just enough plays to pull off a 19-13 win against a surprisingly motivated and chippy young Jets team.
  25. I believe they made the move with an eye towards the salary cap for next season. They had just resigned Hines to a pretty sizable contract for a back up RB with the intent to get him more involved. Reports were he had even spent a lot of time with the WR group in camp as well. Since then they have seen Deon Jackson step up and play well in the game Taylor missed at RB. Michael Pittman came back healthy and looks like a pretty legit #1 WR and Alec Pierce has been one heck of a weapon for them. It's a chance for them to get younger and cheaper at the skill positions in what may well amount to a lost season.
