The irony of this last sentence is priceless.

2023 NFL Draft DAY 2 **Live Thread*** Rounds 2 and 3
BuffaloBillyG replied to muppy's topic in The Stadium Wall
My dream scenario for today: Rd 2: O'Cyrus Torrence G, Florida Rd 3: Gervon Dexter DT, Florida Which is odd because I detest the Florida Gators. This of course could change depending on who slides in Rd 2 and 3. -
Dalton Kincaid, and the perfect nickname.

Name 2 players the Buffalo Bills will select in the 2023 NFL Draft

And as predicted by a few...the Lions selection of Jack Campbell knocked approximately 93.2% of the entries out of the running 😂😂 -
Good, the Ok,and the Ugly from day 1 of the draft
BuffaloBillyG replied to PatsFanNH's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ugly: The Detroit Lions. Gibbs and Campbell are good players. But there were better on both sides of the ball when they picked at positions they needed. Their defense was HORRIBLE last year and Gibbs, while a good play was a luxury pick they couldn't afford to make. Chicago Bears: RT only at that spot is a *WOOF* pick for me. Good: The Eagles. Man they love that Georgia defense, don't they? The "meh" Houston Texans: They got their guy 1 pick after drafting the guy they were "supposed to" pick. Love the aggressive attitude...even if it feels like they gave up a bit much to accomplish that. Those picks they sent should all be high picks next year too that could have been better used to surround their shiney new QB with weapons and build around him. -
Deandre Swift from the Lions likely available via trade
BuffaloBillyG replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall
We let Devin walk for Damien. We wanted a slightly bigger D. As for Swift...this is a move that I think fits the Miami profile. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see them go after him. -
Nomenclature question for the board...
BuffaloBillyG replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
It can be both IMO. If the BPA on your board is there and there is a sizable gap between him and the 2nd best guy on your board making a move makes sense. Especially if...as in this case...you believe with logical reason that the team your jumping would take that BPA. -
Idle Speculation on who will be the Bills Pick at #59
BuffaloBillyG replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
I know I'm in the minority, but I truly believe that they like their LB room a lot more than we want to think. They are comfortable with Dodson. I think he's the vet in the room that has been in the system for a while. He's likely the guy the view as a steady guy that can hold it down. They just spent a 3rd last year on Bernard because they saw something in him. He's the guy I'm betting they HOPE can come in and take the spot away from Dodson. Then there's Spector and AJK are both wild cards in the mix. Not saying they won't add to that if value meets the pick but I don't think they view it as much of a need as we do. Now DT, that's another thing altogether. That's what I expect to see a focus on along with either an OL or safety tonight. -
Dorsey will be cramming those D's down the defense's throat.
-
Absolutely agree with you. The guy plays hard and fits in well. I do think they factor his blocking ability into his "production" as well. He's definitely the type of guy you want to root for. Hope he is put in position to succeed.

Beane seemed pretty noncommittal last night when asked about Knox going forward. I think the words used were "Yea, I don't think he's going anywhere". Wasn't really firm in the answer, though. Not saying at all they plan to deal/cut him...but I do think this is a make or break season for Knox. Over the Cap shows Knox at a $14M cap hit next season and a $10M savings against the cap as a post June 1st cut. So IMO not outside the possibility of he doesn't show well they cut bait on him next year.

Excellent debrief. That first round was a bit crazy for sure and I expect the top half of the 2nd round to match that as teams will be trying to slide up for guys that slid. Should be a fun day. I maybe don't share the excitement over the DK pick quite yet as I really didn't look too hard at him believing he would be gone by the pick. The thing I keep coming back to in my mind is that (and while not directly comparing) he seems almost more like a Mike Gesicki type TE (better hands and better athlete from the sounds, though). While I also like Gesicki I've seen over and over how he would be a bad match for Buffalo. So, a tad nervous about the fit for the moment. But the Bills have been looking for that receiving TE for a bit now (Hollister and Howard were failed attempts) so I do believe they have some ideas cooked up to maximize his potential. I'm off today and will be doing a bit more homework on DK. He does seem like the type that I can get excited about once I see him a bit more. And of course the fan in me will talk myself into loving the pick by lunch more than likely.

Will DeAndre Hopkins be available this offseason?
BuffaloBillyG replied to NeverOutNick's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm hoping they lock it at 299. About half way down the page. -
I saw that as well. I keep seeing DK referred to as more of a "big slot". Like I said, I'm interested in seeing how the offense evolves. I'm not overly excited until I can see what they have in mind....but not grabbing the torches and pitchfork either.
-
What I meant by that was more of Dorsey's usage of 2 TE sets. Understand that our #2 TE last year was Morris and that may have dictated the rational for less of those sets. I'm very interested to see what Dorsey has in mind. Based on last year as it's all we have to go by I am skeptical....however open minded to see how the offense evolves as opposed to slamming Dorsey or the pick at this time.
-
You only quote the one part and not the part where I literally say I'm going to give it time to see what Dorsey does. I think had you quoted my entire comment you would see it is literally the opposite of knee jerk.
-
In his presser Beane just said that they aren't asking him to do much in the way of blocking. Wonder if they see him more of a big slot than doing much on-line by that comment.
-
I like the player. I don't like the player for Buffalo due to what we saw from Dorsey last year. Less than confident he will be used to his full potential. Spending what we are already for Knox and now a 1st round pick is a major investment in a position we haven't seen as a priority position in the offense. Like I said, like the player...just unsure about the usage here. Very willing to wait and see what changes are made to the offense to accommodate such a talented player before I can know if I like the pick. Hopefully, Dorsey has a solid plan in place.

Beane moves up...ABC cuts to commercial. Right on cue.
-
Thought it was WR or TE for a second when they moved up...but defense was really needing a player for them.
-
Addison dressed like a Pepto Bismol sponsored Flava Flav.
-
Just wait until week 8 when Lamar is hurt again and he's attempting to catch passes from Huntley
-
Lots of talk that way. But they also need a lot of help on defense.
-
Levis looks like he was the red herring QB this year. Saw something yesterday about teams uncomfortable with his personality and him not really being dominate against top teams last year. He may still go at the back end of round 1 with someone coming back up for him.
-
If the Ravens go WR here THEN I can see Beane getting anxious and trading with Jacksonville. That's if WR was his plan in the first. Still a ton of talent on the board.
