Neither did Buffalo. The difference was Dak remained patient and took what was given the entire game. Josh did not.

That's a valid point. Except the Bills lost to the Jets who have a Super Bowl caliber defense. Not Zach Wilson. Wins...still not a QB stat.

I don't get the overwhelming majority putting the Chiefs ahead of the Bills. Week 1: We both lost. I would say Kelce/Jones had a hand in their loss but they were also at home in a banner drop game. We were on the road against a top defense. Week 2: Both won. Buffalo dominated a bottom 10 team. Chiefs won against a Jag team...I can't get a handle on. And they struggled. Week:: Both won. Buffalo won their game on the road against a middle of the pack to mediocre team. Chiefs motorboat the worst team in football, in a week their DC re-signs, on their own home turf. First impression of this version of the Chiefs is they are vulnerable. Buffalo and/or Miami could easily pass them by.

OLine/QB Unforced Error Review - All 22 - Week 3 - WashingtonBuffaloBillyG replied to Bocephuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Makes a lot of sense. I feel somewhat nlike the extra chips possibly were gameplan specific to help against Crosby and help our 5th best OLman against a strong front 4. Should be interesting to see going forward if he's left on an island a bit more against other guys or of this is just what they have to do to set him up better. Again, thank you for your work in these threads. Always good to learn!

OLine/QB Unforced Error Review - All 22 - Week 3 - WashingtonBuffaloBillyG replied to Bocephuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Thank you for doing this. It is always informative. I am a bit confused by the part I bolded. Maybe I'm missing something. I likely am. In the above you said you counted 7 times that a RB or TE was asked to chip in this game. And a few of those were to help Dawkins, not Brown. So that would be 5 chips to help Brown? Allen threw 32 passes. That would be roughly 21% (15% of pass plays to help Brown) of the time either Kincaid, Knox or a RB had to chip. Is this considered needing help on a regular basis? I'd be curious to see what a league average is on it.

Terrel Bernard named AFC Defensive Player of the WeekBuffaloBillyG replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Well deserved. Now, can the guy get a haircut? His style is too close to the Mahomes cut.

I was in the "wait and see" camp. So far from what I'm seeing..."meh" Don't get me wrong, I like the guy a lot. Good worker, good teammate and all that. Other than the possibility of an occasional "where did THAT come?!?!" game a season...he's maybe the baseline for average NFL WR. Don't want to pay him like a superstar. Honestly, if he continues to show as he has for the first 3 games, I personally would let him walk. The WR draft class looks deep as does the WR FA market. And yes, some of those guys will re-sign before FA, but my move would be to sign one, draft one and possibly re-up Sherfield.

Buy: Sean McDermott the DC. Simply put this is a huge test for him to see where he fits with his defensive knowledge these days. Will he bring pressure? Drop 7 or 8 into passing lanes? How will he make up for the lack of speed we have on defense vs basically the US 4X100 track team? Maybe I'm too optimistic, however by Monday next week I think the talk around the NFL will be how McDermott laid a blueprint to slow (not completely stop) the blazing Dolphin offense. Sell: Christian Benford. It's not that Benford has played bad. He hasn't. This just may not be a matchup that suits what he does on defense. This week may be rough on him. Hold: Dawson Knox. He's been asked to do a fair amount of blocking so far especially the last 2 weeks. Feels like he's due for a solid outing. And this feel like a spot traditionally where he steps up with that 6 or 7 catch game with a TD or 2. But, he could also be asked to help the RT again. I'm willing to see how Dorsey plays it with him.

Sounds like he has completed his coursework at Jay Cutler QB School. He really doesn't care anymore. I think what we see with Fields is that the coaching staff isn't letting him be him. He's not a great passer. He's an exceptional threat as a running QB that can complete a big pass play here and there. I don't see him having a long career playing the style they want him to. IMO, If I'm the Bears I bring in Greg Roman and let him do his thing.

Hypothetically… Brian Daboll gets the boot….BuffaloBillyG replied to The 9 Isles's topic in The Stadium Wall I think a fair question to ask in this case is was he better under Daboll...or healthier and physically able to do more under Daboll? That's something I think we will be able to tell as time goes on. Sample size of Allen under Dorsey is small...but remember before the elbow injury Allen was on fire early in the season.

I don't think it's Harty's speed that's the issue. It's the usage. I totally get wanting to get him the ball in space. But he should be used as a field stretcher as well. One thought I do have. Perhaps these early season screens and end arounds to him are setting up using him deeper later in the season. Sort of lull the defense into thinking it's a screen and it allows him to hit a deep ball. That's my hope anyway. I'm willing to see if Dorsey has that in his plans.

Time to give Tre his flowers (Week 3 Performance)BuffaloBillyG replied to Slippery Rubber Mats's topic in The Stadium Wall "Not taking anything away from Tre" Then proceed to talk what he did down in every possible way. You play who lines up across from you. And his play on the field was extremely good. You do realize that one reason WHY Howell had to hold the ball for a long time is....ready... BECAUSE White was doing great in coverage. And Washington has some good WRs that can get open. But they didn't often on Tre.

Jets are signing Trevor Siemian to their practice squad.BuffaloBillyG replied to Gregg's topic in The Stadium Wall Colin Kaepernick applied for the job. Honestly, it's a very well constructed letter. But 6 years inactive is a loooooooong time.

Great. Good to know. That however, wasn't the topic. Let's recap so you can catch up. I'll type slow. -You presented the regular season rush rankings of the last few Super Bowl winners. - I said that had nothing to do with how teams approach running back usage in the post season. -I provided a detailed breakdown of every Super Bowl winner's primary RB usage in every playoff game and Super Bowl they played in that season to back up my claim. -Your presented something in the general direction of that for the Bills only with zero context or sticking to the same format. Then tried moving the goalposts. -I gave the same RB breakdown for the Bills under the same conditions. - You ignored and moved the goal posts. At this point I'm just going to move on from this topic with you. Can lead a horse to water and all...but hey, have a great day and if you have any further input...eh, I won't be reading it anyway.

The difference is I didn't add the Rams and Chiefs yardage into the equation as the topic was RB play. Nor did I add WRs who gained yards on runs. It was all about the RB as per the original topic of conversation. As far as Moss's "goose eggs", IIRC, he was injured after the first playoff game. Didn't even play in the next 2 and TJ Yeldon was active. Yet again, context is very important when discussing stats.

Jets are signing Trevor Siemian to their practice squad.BuffaloBillyG replied to Gregg's topic in The Stadium Wall Does it, though? If the Jets end up with a top 10 pick, the wise choice would be to select a QB in a draft that is supposed to be QB heavy. And we all saw how that worked with Aaron in Green Bay. Sinking that pick into anything but the QB of the future and depending on a QB that will be 40, was showing signs of decline, coming off a MAJOR injury and wouldn't have played a game of competitive football in over a year and a half isn't a great spot to be in IMO. Though, it is the Jets so I can see it.

In your attempt to be less lengthy I feel you fall far short of the mark. I not only provided the stats, but the context of the way the top RB played into the outcome. You combined all the rushing stats into one big heap. Of all those rushing yards...how many were by Allen? Two TOTALLY different scopes of conversation. I guess I could go back and add in all the rushing yards from other backs, QBs and WRs as well, but that wasn't the topic of conversation. Tell ya what, I'll even do the bookwork for you here with the same scope I did the others. 2020: Moss/Singletary: 7 car 21 yds/ 3 car 21yds 0 car 0 yds/ 7 car 25yds 0 car 0 yds / 6 car 17 yds Our top 2 backs combined for 23 carries 84 yds and no TDs the ENTIRE playoffs. The rest came from a few TJ Yeldon carries and Allen. That's not even close to how you presented it. What is that? That's putting way too much on Allen leading to a playoff exit. 2021: Singletary: 16/81/2TDs (The NE "Perfect game") 10/26/1TD (13 seconds) Well, what can be derived from here? Game 1 of our playoff run we actually presented a ground game that had to be respected. Result: perfect game. Game 2: We took a step back from the ground game. Put too much on Allen to be perfect (and he really was) and didn't control the clock at all. A few more run plays could VERY well have resulted in zero seconds for Mahomes to come back. Surely, 2022 will tell a different tale, right? 2022: Singletary/Cook 10 car 48yds/12 car 39yds 1td 6 car 25yds/5 car 13 yds So, granted, Buffalo fell behind KC in the second game and only attempting 11 RB rushes. This is, also further proof that come playoff time you cannot be 1 dimensional. In those 7 playoff games Buffalo has what I would consider a respectable run game through their RBs twice. (Both times a WIN) There have been games where Allen has been Superman and added yards on the ground be it designed runs or scrambling. As you can see there is a HUGE difference in the playoffs between what the Super Bowl winning teams did and what we have been doing.
