  1. The defense is good. But I really don't think it's as good as most say. They got a LOT of calls in their favor last year with refs letting Sauce abuse WRs down field. That will come to an end eventually. And while they did do a good job on the Bills, it's up to Dorsey year 2 to adapt and adjust what the do against them. Last year the Jet D was the strength bof their team. The year before with he same scheme and many of the same players they were bottom of the league. People forget that. I think last year they played a lot of bad offenses which helped them look better as well. Now, this isn't saying that defense is bad. The truth is likely somewhere in between what they were 2 years ago and what they were last year.
  2. I don't share this concern for a variety of reasons. First off, Rodgers now is not the same as he was even 2-3 years ago. Not only did it seem like last year he wasn't as good skill wise...his mindset seems way different as well. I don't see that drive to win football games in him anymore. I see the drive to make money. Second, the Jets had a terrible OL last year and did little to improve it. Rodgers should be prepared to be hit...a LOT. Then you have Hall coming off a major injury. They have gotten older and slower on offense by bringing in the ex Packers that Rodgers is buddies with while trading away a very talented young WR. Also, you have a boisterous blowhard of a meathead coach in Saleh who placed his team with the Bills, Bengals and KC as Super Bowl contenders before playing a down. Last year he was all about "keeping receipts" with the media...and I'm sure the media remembers that. What happens if they start slow? This is the start to the Jet season: Buffalo on MNF @Dallas New England Kansas City SNF @Denver Philly Giants @Chargers Starting 1-3 with 2 national games is very plausible. Being 3-5 after 8 games is very realistic. The media will be ALL over it due to the expectations...something that a you g team in the Jets did not have last year. I see a HUGE implosion coming their way.
  3. Where is it being reported? Nothing I see says that. EDIT: I'm seeing that Cook hasn't even officially been released yet.
  4. Nope. Was definitely the first one. It was the opening day scene. 100% sure about that.
  5. This reminds me of the movie Major League. Great movie. One of my favorites. One of the best scenes is when that one less than intelligent fan tries to rationalize that a ball won't be a HR because it's "too high".
  6. I heard they were buying property in Batavia...
  7. I really don't see the Dolphins taking him. They may have been interested early in the off season but they moved forward and drafted a guy the reportedly really like. I think of the AFCE teams that NE is a sneaky choice. Rhomandre is a good RB but they like depth there and Belichick isn't afraid to go after aging vets (Corey Dillon comes to mind). A guy like Cook getting released this late in the off season is really doing him dirty as many teams have their RB rooms set with FAs and draft picks. Teams I can see in on him: Denver Tampa Saints New England Philly
  8. That still adds up to a hefty chunk of change when you're talking about a contract the size of what some of these players make. Last year Tyreek Hill (of all people) gave a good example. When he was traded to Miami the Jets were right there as well for him. KC presented him with the choice and he took Miami in big part because NJ state taxes would have cost him $3.2M more for his share of games played there. And that's not even counting any lodging, large purchases (vehicles) that they may make being taxed at a higher rate. As fans it's really easy to say "well this dude made $100M in the past if he's squabbling about $3M he only cares about money". But it's still a substantial amount when your window to make as much as possible is limited. I think most guys would say the dream is to be handsomely paid by a team that has a shot to win a championship. Best of both worlds. However if given the option between money and glory I think a lot of guys take the money...just like most of us would.
  9. Love your support of one of our best players, however there may be a few things you missed or are unaware of. 1. He flat out said sever times this off-season that one of his life goals is to play with his brother. That's not up for debate. It's a fact. 2. "He" likely didn't have anything to do with restructuring his contract. For a simple restructure the language is already in the deal that teams can restructure at any time. The only times that a player has to give consent is if they are adding void years or extending. 3. He had more that one "minor meltdown" last year. The playoff game was just on the largest stage. There were at least 3 other games that he was snapping off on the sideline and a few times that he was all up in his feelings. Remember McDermott having to hug it out with him early in the (I believe it was) first Dolphins game? It's becoming a bit of a pattern. 4. Yelling at Josh on the sideline of the playoff game is what it is. I can chalk that up to being competitive. Sure. Trying to storm out of the locker room like a petulant child after the game is what I have an issue with. Guy is supposed to be a leader. That's not a leader at all. 5. Tired of everyone saying his behavior is ok because "he's a competitor" and "he wants to win...wish everyone else did". So, by that reasoning...Josh doesn't want to win because he doesn't throw temper tantrums? Milano...doesn't want to win because he didn't storm out of the locker room? BS. 52 other players on that team want to win just as bad. Diggs is the only one who can't control himself. I am also tired of the hypocrisy of some that would BLAST guys like Brady for yelling at teammates and it being chalked up by commentators as him being competitive...but excuse it from Diggs because it's a Buffalo Bill. 6. You are correct in saying he's not going anywhere this season. NEXT season could be a different story. While trading him would leave $8.8M dead cap (post June 1st) it would also clear $19M off the cap. Not saying they will or even should...but it is financially plausible next year. Despite all that, I'm not down on the guy. He is and can continue to be a huge part of this team. There have now been some patterns of behavior that are worth monitoring headed into this season. Nothing huge and nothing that can't be repaired. The old saying "winning cures all" definitely applies here. If by chance the Bills fall short this year it could very well escalate into something more troublesome next off season.
  10. Yea, well Leslie Frazier has met with THREE teams.
  11. Well I expect a full refund now.
  12. Hey now, I'll have you know that one of the clerks at my local Wegmans is about 6'2" 155 pounds. He says he runs a 5.90 40...which doesn't sound fast but he really rings up groceries quick. Fast process skills. Maybe a place on special teams for him....
  13. This year he cannot be traded. Next season though if they move him as a post June 1st trade it would leave $8.8M dead cap while saving $19M off the cap. Not advocating for it...but worth noting. I also believe if we were to try and trade him we would potentially run into the same issue Arizona did trying to trade DHop. Not many teams will want to give up what he's worth in trade for a WR his age and possibly having to give him a fresh new deal.
  14. Yeah, but he did it consistently.
  15. Agree on Neal. He is a fantastic gunner. As much as I hate using spots on ST I believe they keep him. Just wish he was more useful when he has to fill in on defense. Though with the new rules on special teams I do wonder if the need for an outstanding gunner gets to be less of a priority. I would figure either way, they keep him for this season to see how much of an impact the FC rule has and if the new rule nullifies the need they move on next season. Cautious approach.
  16. Zayne could carve out a role on special teams. Benford is pretty much a lock to make the team due to his youth, versatility and low contract. That said, I could realistically see Hamlin in the mix to make this team. He was a young player getting his first real reps last year and I thought that his play was starting to get better as the season wore on. Putting aside all the health and mental wellness issues aside and talking his football play on the field...he's a guy that could improve. I think Marlowe and Lewis are odd guys out.
  17. Kincaid was the big new toy. I'd agree that nothing else brought it weapon wise is as big a get as that was. However, Harty and Sherfield have potential to be good role players IF Dorsey figures out a way to use them. The IOL being potentially upgraded will also help. That's the whole point though. Dorsey couldn't scheme up anything for Hines. He really didn't use McKenzie to his strength last year. Almost zero jet sweeps...just plugged him in and hoped he'd morph into Cole Beasley. Found limited ways to use Knox. So, adding DHop does...what exactly? It puts a high priced body into a position where the coaching staff doesn't adjust to player skill sets but rather tries to fit what they have into the offense they want to run.
  18. I see a lot of valid points here. And I agree, the question isn't so much "Why does Allen need help". Let me reword that to "Why does the offense need more help?" I think it would be safe to assume we would be able to agree that the IOL was a MAJOR reason that Josh had to go above and beyond last year. The quick pressure in his face led to plays breaking down quick on multiple occasions each game. I think it would also be safe to assume we could agree that the offense got way less than it hoped from the slot position. Those areas have (at least on paper, so far) been addressed. The issue that remains for me is the one I've stated both here and in other threads. You can improve the line, the weapons...but if you have a coaching issue you're throwing good money out the window. While the offense put up good stats last year the offensive philosophy wasn't much more than "Josh, do something good". I do think Dorsey has the possibility of improvement however I would like to see how he uses all the new toys Beane gave him before investing more cap in players that won't have an impact if not used well. Even dating back to last season with Hines. We got him at the trade deadline and Dorsey couldn't figure out a way to use him...despite Beane talking up how he can play multiple spots and be a difference maker. They kept saying he was "still learning the playbook". They said the same thing this off-season about him. But Dorsey couldn't scheme up anything? Doesn't give me confidence that he can utilize a guy like DHop.
  19. For the dollars he's getting you would sell out too.
  20. What is this hard on you have about redirecting every question about Josh to Mahomes? It's a weird obsession. No. They weren't. As I said in the part you conveniently edited out...no one said he wasn't a good to great offensive mind. They were and he was even then. But there was NO ONE comparing him to the almost Bill Belichick level genius that they have since he had Mahomes.
  21. You know, when you pick and choose what lines to quote and respond to one by one it leads to taking things completely out of context...which you have done. No one is "painting Allen in a bad light". But I do think it's fair to ask the question of if he as as great as WE like to believe he is...he needs to be able to elevate and utilize the playmakers around him. Which HE even acknowledged himself this very off season.
  22. He has the help. Yes, he has 2 top players to Josh's 1. Valid point. However after that... Our RB room is deeper and better overall WR room..same and by a country mile. OL- they had a solid OL. Ours seems to be much sturdier this year. We will see on that. Now, obviously Reid has a vast bit of knowledge and experience over Dorsey. Which is why I was against that hire in the first place. They handed the keys to a Corvette to someone that had a learners permit. That's the issue. Not getting more WR help.
  23. I would say that production wise, Diggs cancels out Kelce. So the difference is Andy vs Dorsey. First off let me just say I think the "offensive guru" talk about Reid is VASTLY overblown. Now that's not to say he isn't good at his job...but he's not some all knowing all seeing Guru. No one was saying he was an offensive savant when his QBs were McNabb and Alex Smith. That leaves the Ken Dorsey issue. Either he can run an offense or he can't. If he can run an offense he has enough pieces to scheme up some truly fantastic sets. If he can't run an offense getting him Hopkins won't make a difference because he won't know how to use him anyway. It would be like giving my 9 year old a Corvette. Sure it looks pretty in the garage but he can't drive it so it's basically a useless expenditure of money.
  24. There are a ton of ways to win in the NFL. Last year the Chiefs won a SB with their WR2 being who, exactly? The year before sure the Rams had OBJ and Kupp...but lost OBJ. Who stepped into the WR2 then? Look at the complete chit show the Giants had at WR last year...still made a run in the playoffs...WITH DANIEL FREAKING JONES at QB. Davis meets the production threshold of a logical WR2. Doesn't mean he is good to go. Needs to step up and improve still. Consistency, reliability and durability all need work. In the event Diggs misses time the pressure, however isn't on Davis to suddenly become Diggs. The pressure is on Dorsey to use the WR room he has, the RB room they worked on and the 2 weapons at TE. I've seen the point in another thread about Ed Oliver needing a good 3T to maximize his usefulness. A lot of people there make the point that if he was that good he wouldn't need the help of someone else to elevate him. So, borrowing that logic...how much help does Josh Allen actually need to elevate him? If we need Pro Bowl caliber players at ever skill position to get him to elevate...do we then have a Josh Allen problem?
