  1. I know he's a fan favorite but I can't think of anytime I've ever heard someone praise him for leadership. Not saying he isn't but that doesn't flow to the forefront when I think of Phillips. Ceilingwise I think we have seen Phillip's best work and he's a declining player on a higher deal. For a 1 season body of work yes he's likely the better player. As the likely DT4 I'll go younger and cheaper everytime.
  2. I give you credit for specifically saying Trevon in the thread title. That said it would solidify that if Stefon was serious about hoping to play with his brother it wouldn't be in Buffalo.
  3. For the most part I do agree with this, however I strongly feel that there are exceptions to every rule. Take a team like the Titans. Traditionally they are a run first team with Ryan Tannehill at QB. Their OL has always featured guys that were maulers. Their coach is more traditional "throwback". Literally everything centered off the run game...and they happen to have a unicorn of a RB. At the time that they gave him the second contract it made sense. Their best chance at winning was on the ground. Now, you can fault them for not building an offense that is more modern. But a second contract is understandable for that RB in that situation as long as it was structured smartly. Johnathan Taylor is coming due pretty soon. Will be interesting to see what the Colts do if he stays healthy and bounces back this year. (especially with a QB on rookie contract) as he is about 70% of their offense. But 99% of the time, I would agree. The league is littered with guys that are productive enough for the price at RB.
  4. That's what we call a "James Cook Smile"
  5. Yeah, I like his talent. His speed is a game changer. But all the speed in the world doesn't make a difference when you're in the trainers room. And now add in the gambling suspension. Glad the Bills didn't nab him.
  6. Aaaand away we go
  7. Be interesting to see how Barkley signing plays into Jacobs thought process on a quick return.
  8. Williams vs Toney "missed games" competition this year is gonna be LIT
  9. Exactly. Those are Teddy Bridgewater numbers. Jacoby Brissett numbers. Now, in fairness he's a bigger rushing threat than either of those guys, but as a passer Jones is mediocre.
  10. Now him not getting a deal where they can't tag him next year we are in full agreement on. That wasn't beneficial to him at all. Again however, if he turned down 12.5M last year...what was the structure of the contract? How much was guaranteed? What did the incentives look like? There is so much more to a contract offer that the sticker price. Fans get stuck on the big number. Keep in mind that his 11M for this season is now guaranteed. Fully, even if he gets hurt. Did that confirmed (and confirmed by who, exactly?) deal have a minimum 11M fully guaranteed in it for this year? Honest question.
  11. In a lot of ways the parts you quoted help my stance. Look at the wording. "Seemingly". "Perhaps". It also points out that even if it's a "2 year 26M" offer...the numbers aren't going to be near that. So what was the actual offer? You don't know, I don't know and the people writing the article don't know. So without knowing what the offer actual was, what it's actual value is it's kinda hard to sit back and make an educated judgement on his passing of it. To speculate: if it was a 2 year 26M fully guaranteed deal? Sure, dumb. 2 year 26M deal that's only worth 7million? Yeah, Id pass on that as well if I were him. The truth is likely in between those floor/ceiling estimates, of course. But where it actually comes in only he his agents and the team know.
  12. Exactly. Fans just run with whatever they are told by whoever tweets it. Now, that's not to say fans can't be critical of a player's decision when facts come to light. For example, after all this Barkley didn't even secure a "no tag clause" for next year which puts him right back where he is now only a year older with a year more wear and tear on his body.
  13. But of course we also know how the sports media works. 1 guy says 1 thing and everyone parrots it. Then they talk about it a bunch because they need content. In this case I'd trust Barkley's word about what was or wasn't offered over someone like Mike Florio The only people that know what was offered for sure are Barkley, his agents and the team.
  14. If you believe what you read, yes. Barkley has actually said a few times that was never offered. I have a hard time calling a guy stupid for "turning down an offer" that may never have happened. https://giantswire.usatoday.com/2023/07/13/new-york-giants-saquon-barkley-refutes-reports-about-contract-offer/
  15. So all's good now because that's like 30 in dog miles per hour, right?
  16. Just watched a bit of highlights. Not fast, but shifty/slick running style. Actually reminded me a bit of Blacksheer. Seems like a lack of break away speed. Real nose for the end and finishes off runs well. Guy looks like a hitman inside the 5. Haven't seen him as a receiver yet.
  17. The Mims kid? Haven't really looked into him much. Guess I know my homework assignment for tonight🤣
  18. 84 will likely be Sternberger with 1, 6 ,25, 32 or 37 going to Evans.
  19. I think he's got a legit chance to make the roster, too.
  20. I thought Bryant flashed a bit when he got his opportunity. Add in he likely would have been less expensive and had more long term upside. And of course one of Phillips calling cards over the last few seasons has been his inability to stay healthy. Phillips is ok when healthy. And he's a lot of fun to watch rev up the crowd. I'll give him that.
  21. Honestly would have rather brought him back than Jordan Phillips.
  22. There are some for sure. But not likely at the price Beane's looking to spend. Would be a good year for some UDFA RB to impress, that's for sure.
  23. Liked him coming out but has struggled to find a home. Some upside there.
  24. And we have our first volunteer to take Hines's spot...😂🤣😂🤣
