I think they offer Knox the chance to stay with a straight up paycut. As you said, he won't find a huge amount on the open market. If he refuses, yeah I see a cut. I do think he's valuable in real world football. He does do a lot of good things. But with Hawes and with Kincaid becoming a stronger blocker, I'm not sure his skillset is really unique enough to be of value

Agree. We can get to 50. Just tinkering on Over the Cap and I got to around 67M. Of course, Beane won't pull all the levera that I did, nor should he. I was somewhat surprised that someone like RVD wasn't moved as his contract is up and I don't think he's in the long term plans. Takes two to trade, but it wouldn't have shocked me. I wouldn't be shocked if they use next year to shed some of the bad contracts as well
-
You are correct. It looks bleak 8 months out However, contracts will get reworked, some cuts will be made, guys will be re-signed to deals that have lower 1st year hits and they will have a good chunk of money. And yes, most of that will be used to sign our own. We will have limited means to upgrade in FA. Again.

What team "won" on trade deadline day-2025 edition
BuffaloBillyG replied to TBBills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
From Google AI: The New York Jets will incur approximately $19.75 million in dead cap over the next two years from trading Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts. This includes an $8.75 million charge for 2025 and an $11 million charge for 2026. This figure is relatively low because the extension signed in July featured a smaller signing bonus and relied on future option bonuses that now transfer to the Colts. The New York Jets will have $13.24 million in dead cap in 2025 and $9.8 million in dead cap in 2026 from trading Quinnen Williams. This is a result of the remaining prorated signing bonus money from his extension hitting the cap as a result of the trade. So if that's right they take a bit under $22M in dead cap this year and $20.8M in dead cap next year combined. -
I agree. And who knows what Jackson turns into. But had they moved the pick they took him with at last year's trade deadline, it wouldn't have impacted this year much. And maybe it would have acquired a player that helped them get past KC last year. Plausible, at the very least.

Serious question how good are 7-2 AFC teams (and LAC at 6-3)
BuffaloBillyG replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
The way I see it is each of those teams are good enough to knock us out of the playoffs in a one game format. Especially if something happens and we are a little "off" that day The Bills are still a good team, but the gap is significantly smaller than it used to be. It seems we have treaded water while those teams were building and they have caught up -
True. But the reason it's so frustrating is that the AFC is basically wide open. Ravens, Chiefs and Bengals are all on the outside looking in at this point. We aren't even on top of our division as perhaps the stiffest competition this year is sitting with us in the AFCE in the Pats. A third round pick in the upcoming draft isn't gonna help them win the Super Bowl this year. But it could have possibly landed Shaheed and helped this year.
-
It's weird that other teams found a dance partner. Brandon Beane must just be the ugly gal standing by the wall.
-
GREAT JOB BEANE! With the AFC wide open this year, we don't need a trade. Heck we were in the AFC CHAMPIONSHIP last year. That's just as good as a Super Bowl, really. Why go all in with a generational QB? Ignore we are a Kincaid injury away from the offense being useless. And just forget all the season ending injuries to the defense. We are one Joey Bosa injury away from having no pass rush. That's right, Beane. Forget all that. Who needs speed and talent when we can bring back a guy like JORDAN POYER!!! Who needs WRs who can separate when we can sign another overpaid gadget guy?

The best part of this day has either been watching people talk themselves into the "No move is the right move" camp or the "Von and Deebo would be great" camp. I can't decide which is funnier. Maybe I should start a poll...
-
Honestly, it's a case of career longevity. They know if they stay status quo, they can talk up injuries or something and buy another year. They know they have an automatic playoff appearance with JA17. If they go all in and miss it lowers the chance they can buy another year. Meanwhile, treading water Yup. Over pay, add void years and sit with dead cap and handcuffs yourself.

We are 1 hour and 3 minutes away from a LOT of threads being started on Brandon Beane.
-
In addition to the high picks, I like the way the Jets are also taking on young, highly drafted players that need a change of scenery. So a 1 and Keon to the Jets for Wilson.
-
I don't love all the firsts the Jets are gathering...but I like Williams being out of the division. And Jerry Jones trades Parsons for a 1st and a DT...only to trade a first for another DT? Weird, but they may have the best IDL in the league now.
-
Brandon? That you? Get off the message board and go get a WR...
-
Hm. Wilson and Williams for Keon, a 5th and an order of Duffs wings.
-
If Garrett Wilson is the target...how in the blue hell is Deebo the pivot? "Yes I'm planning on buying a Lamborghini, but if that falls through I'll just grab a three wheeled skateboard."
-
I swear if he ends up in Kansas City....
-
I mean, when you have the opportunity to collect worthless WR with the last name Samuel, you have to jump on it
-
I'd really rather not
-
I can literally hear his voice saying that now. He may feel frisky and add in Gabe Davis being on the mend.

And how have their fortunes changed?
