However both teams had a fair amount of RBBC. Both years the Chiefs ranked far down the list. That's the Mahomes factor...agreed? He throws a lot. The Rams present somewhat of an anomaly. Where a lot of teams may hand off to a RB, the Rams (especially the Super Bowl season) would toss to Cooper Kupp in the short areas. Schematically, these were essentially their version of running plays. But the totals go in the passing column so it skewed the numbers IMO. So now that we know where each team ranked during the season I want to take a game by game approach and see how the RB position was leaned on in the post season. Chiefs: Pacheco: 12 car 95yd 1TD 10 car 26 yd 15 car 76 yd 1 TD (McKinnon chipped in another 34 on just 4 carries) Was a receiving threat as well. Rams offense is also Kupp heavy and many passes they throw are an extension of the run game. Blount with a TD each game. While NONE of the players listed above here had huge regular seasons, they all played key roles come January in their team hoisting the Lombardi. And to tie it to the thread; this is the type of player Moss is. He's not a superstar. He's likely not going to lead the NFL in yards. But he CAN be a guy that can and will go off over a 3 or 4 game stretch. With the pounding that the Average starting NFL RB takes, by game 17 or 18 of the season their bodies are shot. That's why IMO you rarely see the Henry's, Barkley's or CMC's of the NFL dominate the post season. But those more scarcely used backs are fresher come post season. Contrary to popular belief, in the post season RBs DO matter. However RB depth is more important than having an elite one.

That's cute and all, but regular season rushing totals mean very little. To completely ignore that most of those teams leaned on the run game to various amounts come playoffs is disingenuous. Want to know what you get without at minimum a respectable run game come January? A one dimensional offense that is suspectable to being key on and slowed by the weather.

Lots of reasons come into play. In LA, people just don't care about the NFL. Same in Jacksonville. Vegas is a "destination location" for opposing fans. As soon as schedule comes out that's one people will flock to because of the extra fun that can be had. Plus the Raiders just moved there and there really isn't a deep seeded love for them in the area. And without Barkley last week he abandoned the run very early and asked Daniel Jones to do it all. He's learned nothing. I think Dorsey one day will be a fine Coordinator. I have no issues with him. I just never thought taking over a top contending team that was on the cusp of Super Bowls is the best thing for any 1st time OC/DC. Too much pressure to "win now" rather than learn OTJ.

If they insist of doing these early season Monday night double games I wish they would coordinate it smarter. If I'm watching the Bills and they cut to that split screen they sometimes don't really ticks me off. Couldn't care less about the Bucs or Eagles during a Bills game, ya know? If they want to do this better...double the divisional games. Let's say, Miami vs Jets is on with Buffalo vs. NE. Then, ok, I care a bit about the other AFCE games. Division games seem to be better and have a few upsets as well. Would make for better TV IMHO.

The Rams are fun to watch again. Puka is a FIND...working the Cooper Kupp role. Can't believe the Bengals are running Burrow out there tonight. Either he isn't near as injured as they made it out to be or they are way too desperate in week 3. My "doomsday" scenario is that the Bengals lose Burrow for the year. End up 1-16. Tag and trade Tee Higgins for some nice picks and use their first on Marvin Harrison Jr to replace him.

Saleh and Douglas bought themselves an extra year when Rodgers went down. I personally think anyone who thinks Rodgers would have made that much of a difference behind that line is fooling themselves. Maybe with Rodgers they pull off the win yesterday...but they weren't beating the Cowboys either way. And week 1 was a gift. Easy to pin a losing record on losing Rodgers. Honestly, if I were the Jets I let Wilson stink it up and take a QB what's looking to be a deep QB draft. Their defense will win them too many for a top 3 pick IMO.

Agree about Denver rolling over. Not 100% sure it is accurate but I have seen the Broncos were "credited" with TWENTY FOUR missed tackles yesterday alone. That's rolling over to a whole new level. Miami is good, as you say. They are also beatable. I have confidence that McDermott will keep the pass game reasonably contained. They will get their yards and scores...but I don't see any 65+ yard pass plays. I do think we are a bit more vulnerable to a long run play. Just a small crack and 1 guy out of place and BOTH their RBs are fast enough to be gone. Can't wait to see how this plays out

Hard to catch a ball thrown with the velocity that Allen has in stride. Any kind of looking upfield too soon is going to result in a ball glancing off a guys hands and possibly getting picked. And we have seen that many times over the years.

To be fair: Denver has some really really solid players on that defense. They returned most of the starters from last year when they were top half of the league in both fewest points and yards given up. Not saying they were the 85 Bears or anything...but a solid steady defense. I believe the biggest failure for that defense was letting Evero walk and bringing in Vance Joseph. The players don't really fit what he does and he refused to adapt. Also, I am fully expecting any time for it to come to light that the players themselves are at odds with the coaching staff. I don't think Payton is well received there at all.

I think you're seeing more Murray on 3rd downs because he's been a bit better pass blocker than Cook. Cook has improved since last year IMO, though

Lawson was credited with 7 pressures yesterday in 20 snaps. AJE was credited with 5 on 25 snaps. Those are both excellent rates. I think one of Kingsley Johnathan or Poona Ford will be the one out when Von comes back...barring injury to someone else.
