  1. There are a LOT of third rounders that start out as backups. That isn't uncommon. Not every player needs to start year one to take over eventually. In the meantime he will contribute other ways. Fans think they will get some premium starter in the 3rd round are kidding themselves. Yes, of course it does happen that way...but on a team with a solid roster it doesn't happen often.
  2. If we traded with the Titans that would have been 14 spots for them to come up and (presumably) take Levis, giving them a potential QB of the future with a 5th year option. A 3rd would have been poor value (in this draft especially) to give them that IMO. And if Kincaid is the weapon people are saying he can be, I think the Bills played it right. We needed the weapon and there weren't many options left high up that may have an impact this year.
  3. I'll take one out of the 2. Dexter went earlier than I thought.
  4. Excellent write up. For me, last night's picks were about 2 things. Roster flexibility and scheme flexibility. My eyes are now firmly on the IOL in camp. I have to believe McGovern starts at LG. This leaves RG as a battle between Torrence, Bates and Edwards. If Edwards regains his early career form under Kromer and Torrence shows well as a rookie...could it spell they end for Mitch Morse in Buffalo? I think they would be good with Bates sliding to center and playing next to his old college teammate. A post June 1st cut of Morse clears $8M in cap space for the year. Not saying it will or even should be the play...but the options are certainly there. Williams in the 3rd gives the Bills more flexibility to show some 4-3 looks, perhaps. With his coverage skills he may even fit as a "big nickel" if needed. There are a lot of ways he can be used. Sure he will get worked in on special teams as well. Maybe not a name we were all familiar with...but he looks like he can be used a lot of different ways. Plus we still get a LB with long dread locks. So far, what Beane has said all pre draft has held true. No replacement for Brown or Davis. They genuinely feel they can take steps forward this year. Edmunds replacement is on the roster. What I'm watching for is Beane to start looking for the future now. He's talked about the lack of DT being signed for next year's roster and I see that being addressed today. I think safety is also a spot we get a look at as well. Thus far very happy with the draft.
  5. I think as it sits right now: Dodson comes into camp as the starter. They like him and he's been in the system a few years. He's the safety net if no one else steps up. Bernard is the guy that will get first crack to unseat him. He's who they HOPE will come in and take the job away from Dodson. That's why they took him last year. Spector is a wild card. AJK is here right now if we sustain injury at the position. Wouldn't shock me to see him a roster cut/on the PS when all is said and done if Bernard and or Spector take a step forward. Williams is starting out at OLB. I don't know why this is still shocking to anyone. They have said all along they like the LB room and feel Edmunds replacement is already on the roster.
  6. Wonder if with this pick and the depth in the LB room now the plan is to run a tad more true 4-3 defensive concepts as opposed to the 4-2-5? This would seem to give us some extra versatility to do that.
  7. We are planning on putting them in the same uniform and combining them into 1 MEGA LINEBACKER
  8. Well he fills the hole of LBer with long dreads.
  9. I wanted Torrence. Wanted Torrence last night when we picked. Elated to grab him at the end of round 2.
  10. Thought the Patriots did that in the 6th round like 25 years ago.
  11. Strictly G. Mostly RG but has started LG. Plug and play at RG and you have Bates that has C and LG flexibility.
  12. Yes and no. He's not a guy to run to the second level...but he locks on his man a drives him to the second level often. Will completely eliminate the defender at the point of attack .
  13. Yea, don't care what he looks like in a bikini. Just wanted a guy that can protect Allen and blast holes open in the run game. That's Torrence. This will prove to be an excellent pick IMO. There won't be that quick pressure in Allen's face this year.
  14. I wanted Gervon Dexter..but my guy is still on the board.
  15. Jets almost HAVE to go OL on their pick. I would think.
  16. Never know who is gonna get cut after the draft. Or look for a trade. Plus there are a few really solid pass rushers still in FA that could help. There will still be moves that could be made.
  17. They are is Edwards gets back to form. Just throwing out that Buffalo does save $8M against the cap if Mitch Morse is listed as a June 1st cut or trade...Bates is really solid at C. I am NOT advocating for the move. Just tossing a passing though out there.
  18. Bad tape. But on top of that he just seems so phony as a person. Guaranteed he's the kind of "leader" that would have none of his teammates show to his birthday party.
  19. I believe time will show Levis as a huge reach.
  20. Both the Eagles and Chief said they had offer to trade out of round 1 but took the player instead. Wouldn't shock me if it was the Titans looking to get back up there.
  21. I believe the "change" in offense came last year when OJ Howard was released. Buffalo had brought him in for a reason and I think (and Beane hinted at last night) that the offense has been looking to have more 12 personal (or 11.5 as BB called it last night) for a few seasons...starting with Hollister. They just haven't been able to find that F tight end until now. Sort of reminds me of how the Bills had been looking for a RB to work out of the backfield on passing downs. Had that guy from Washington lined up then he bailed. They had done work on ETN when he came out. Then they moved to Cook. They are looking for specific things and pieces for the offense. Kincaid just may be that corner piece of the puzzle that makes the frame come together.
  22. London Fletcher announcing the Washington pick as well.
