A commonality among the Bills recent signings
BuffaloBillyG replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Physically terrifying, no they are not. However they play with attitude and sometimes they even cross the line from playing "chippy" to downright dirty. And that's where having guys that can bring that physicality right back to them comes into play. Joseph is going to bring that if he plays. Should Fournette be active, we know firsthand he will not stand for the BS and will get physical if needed...be it he's involved in the play or not. One thing that has traditionally bothered me about the Bills is that teams know you can bully them a bit. Not so much these days IMO. -
Chiefs v Dolphins in Frankfurt Germany
BuffaloBillyG replied to Aussie Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall
There are certain aspects about the international travel I can see the coaching staffs points on. Spending the first part of the week in your own facility with access to better rehab equipment being the big one. But having a game in a European country 7 days after playing a game stateside is impractical for both teams. Really think it would make much more sense to schedule teams coming off a bye for international games. I also think they should schedule 4 teams to play there and stay 2 weeks. Something like the Dolphins play the Chiefs and Jags play the Ravens the first week...then flip it and the Jags play the Dolphins and Chiefs play Ravens the 2nd week. -
I swear on all things holy if there are only plain fried cakes left again I'm going on strike.

I agree. First off, giving credit where it's due, KC has played really good team defense this year. It's been the reason why they are winning. However, they are overmatched a bit this game. I do not think the Chiefs can win this one in a shootout. There's a lot to factor into this game but the 2 things that stick out to me most are that 1. As unlikable as Tyreek Hill is...he's going to be playing with a vendetta. And the way he's played so far this year him having extra motivation is a frightening thought. 2. Travel plans. Miami got in on Monday. Chiefs on Thursday. I think we all saw firsthand the difference that makes. This weekend will tell us a lot about how the top AFC teams are shaking out. With this game and us against the Bengals. Baltimore should win against Seattle, but the 'Hawks aren't an easy out either. And don't look now, but the Steelers are suddenly 5-3. For the Bills, this game is basically a must win. -
I'm here because I was told there would be cake and pie. I have yet to receive any cake or pie.

Fair question. Just a gut feeling that Joseph will be in there. He did it last year in Philly. I think he can again. Douglas is the question mark in my mind. I hope so, but I'd call him doubtful. Would love to be surprised here, but if he needs the extra week to learn terminology, I'm good with that. Can't have blown coverage against Burrow. Fournette, listening to Beane seems the biggest longshot IMO. -
He puts Diggs to shame...

Fun fact about Al as well...he claims he's never eaten a vegetable in his life. Gotta respect that. -

I'm hoping... HOPING it's a truly terrible game. Annoyed and up past his bed time Al Michaels is freaking hilarious. -

Levis looked fantastic in his first game action. I think he comes back down to Earth a bit tonight. I saw a lot of blown/bad coverage last week he took advantage of. Don't think he gets that luxury tonight. -
Bills sign DT Linval Joseph---Elam to IR
BuffaloBillyG replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Now I think you're just being greedy,😂. Beane has made moves to replace 2 out of the 3 lost stars on defense. Made a move to replace Harris (and maybe be a bigger chess piece). He's done well. At some point you need to say...ok this is what we got...go win. -
Thank GOD for Josh Allen. If not for him there would likely be a 100 page thread about bringing in this guy next year. Not sure my sobriety could have handled that.

Bills sign DT Linval Joseph---Elam to IR

Well, he's got a good/competitive team. I'm wondering if it's more the human element in play. Terry realizing he's not getting younger. -

For a team that had "No money" Beane did well. Rasul Douglas Leonard Fournette Linval Joseph Seeing Beane pressing so hard to replace from the outside instead of letting "next man up" dwindle the season is refreshing. Wonder if there's more pressure behind the scenes to win now than in years past?- 477 replies

I think by when all is said and done, Rivera is out for sure this year. I'm guessing the next HC for Washington is already on their staff. I expect them to either promote Eric Bieniemy and give him his shot or Jack Del Rio, who I think should have never been fired from the Raiders. One of them will oversee the rebuild.

Week 9, Bills v. Bengals - Predict the Score
BuffaloBillyG replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think this team will be very deliberate in showing that they are not the team that no showed in the playoffs last year. I feel like we see a very motivated bunch to "right the wrongs" of how their season ended last year. However right now there may not be a team playing hotter than the Bengals. Seems every year they hit this stretch on fire and almost unbeatable. And they will be at home in front of a rowdy crowd. I feel like this will be a much more competitive game than the playoffs were last year. However, I think we are on the short end here and end up dropping a close one that is much lower scoring than many would think. Cincinnati - 24 Buffalo- 20 -
Bills signing Fournette (for real this time)

Rejoice! -
They can just use a call up on Ankou this week as well.
-
True. But if they put Elam on IR that opens 1 spot. And adding the 2nd DT to PS would mean we cut one off there. And that guy would get 3 call ups . Not a big deal. I know beating Cincinnati is big, but if we can make it through this week and get these bodies in there it will be huge for helping stack wins. Eventually, I would think at least one of Ford, Settle and Phillips are likely gone.
-
Those would both be some good gets at this stage of the season. Can't believe Ioannidis is still out there.

Or, the NFL is a contact sport and players get injured. Whatever floats your boat, I guess. You're not wrong. However, It's nice that he's willing to admit that what he's put together isn't working and trying to make a move. Nothing is more frustrating than a GM that makes mistakes then refuses to fix them.

For those that missed if with a few key comments added. Good watch. Some other key points- - Worked through many possibilities at CB before dealing for Rasul. Seemed like the asking prices were too high for others. - Had been calling about DTs. Still looking to add. I read that as "We have several vets we are talking to. First one to accept our offer at a lower salary is a Buffalo Bill". But help is likely on the way. - Rasul not expected to practice today. Not likely to be active this week IMO. - Mentioned Fournette isn't familiar with the playbook. May take him a bit to see action is the way I took it. Also said regarding Fournette that nothing's been promised. - As usual, Beane was pretty straight forward as far as NFL GMs go.

The NFL perhaps more than any other sport is a matchup league. Not only scheme wise, but also WHEN you play a team. The Bengals are a good example. Often struggle early and then hit a groove where they are the hottest team in the league. They are in that streak right now. And as much as people will disagree because of the narrative around them...Denver is in a streak of playing better football the last 3 weeks as well. The defense is figuring things out. They aren't going to be the same easy win team that Miami faced early in the season.

I like PFF as a tool to see if the the grades match the eye test. Not normally as a stand alone measurements. That said...he already knows to look for the ball when playing Tua.
