Chandler Jones? Kick the tires at the trade deadline?
BuffaloBillyG replied to TampaBillsJunkie's topic in The Stadium Wall
No. No not at all. Hopefully his path for the foreseeable future is improving his mental health and getting the help he may need. People really need to learn that these monsters of the gridiron are real human beings. He's someone's son. He's someone's brother, friend. And he's obviously been going through some real issues. Stop seeing these players as video game pieces.- 98 replies

So, who are you going to replace him with? That's the question most asked when someone wants to fire a Head Coach. Attached is a really fantastic article from SI that discusses who the "next man ups" are for HC jobs. And yes, our very own Ken Dorsey is on the list. As is Joe Brady as a "down the road" name, As is Bobby Babich, Former Bills QBs Thad Lewis and Davis Webb. I thought this was an outstanding read. Ken Dorsey, offensive coordinator, Bills After learning more about Dorsey, the most impressive part of his candidacy is the myriad ways in which he can win on offense. The Bills are one of the most versatile teams in football schematically, and Dorsey, a former quarterback at the University of Miami and with both the 49ers and Browns, has designed a dizzying system for opponents to try to match up against. Dorsey is not tied to one system. The assumption is often that the Bills are a chuck-it offense, but some of Dorsey’s best work, according to those familiar with his system, has come in the intricacies of how he designs the running game.

Only thing is...teams look at film not stat boxes. If he was getting open and was where he needed to be on a play it would show up on film. It wouldn't shock the opposing coaches or players.
-
Ok. Even classified as a #5 safety...point to me a team with other than mediocre #5 safeties? By your definition not mine. I will agree that coverage is not his strong suit. I see him more of a in the box safety which he is not bad at at all IMO.
-
He's a #4 safety. Can you point out to me what teams #4 safety can be considered a "great" player?
-
Logic would dictate that would depend on down and distance. If you're doing it in obvious pass downs the choice would likely be a DT and mix in a 4th rusher from the LB spot if needed. A less obvious pass down and it would depend on what formation the offense presents in.

Armstead should be playing. Phillips is still up in the air but it would be huge if he's out. He always seems to flash when he plays us. The guy is legit.
-
It may depend on gameplan. If the Bills had set up to use a 3 safety look and had Rapp in that role, they may keep him there and slide Lewis or Hamlin into Poyer's spot. That way you only have to adjust 1 players role as opposed to two. If they Bills are giving 2 deep looks than yes, Rapp will likely be the guy.
-
Hamlin, more likely. Unless the plan is Lewis at safety exclusively, IMO

Week 4, Fish v. Bills - Predict the Score
BuffaloBillyG replied to newcam2012's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes and no. First meeting last year Buffalo paid a LOT of attention to him...which allowed Waddle to go over 100 yards. Second game and playoffs game Hill had 69 yards in each (nice) but ended up with 16 catches between the 2 games with a TD. And again in the regular season game with the focus on him Waddle topped 100 yards. So while he himself isn't lighting up the stat sheet the attention he draws allows the other playmakers on the team (and this year Miami has a TON of those) to flourish. His presence alone is a killer. -
Fans live and die by a game by game basis. Teams have an idea and play for the next 3-5 years (at least, they should). Last year this same sentiment was used at this point in the year right here on this very forum about James Cook. Look at Cook now. A year in and he's improved his stock immensely. Is being used, productive and is a threat. If Gibbs isn't seeing the field, there's likely a reason for that. In young backs the most common reason is that they either aren't trusted as pass blockers yet or are struggling to learn pass game concepts IMO.

It's been 3 games. Also fair to point out LaPorta is the Lions every snap TE. Kincaid is not an every snap player. He will be more involved.

Week 4, Fish v. Bills - Predict the Score

Dolphins- 27 Bills- 23 Before the season I said the Bills and Dolphins would likely split this year. This is the Miami win. The Dolphins have a lot of ways to burn a defense right now and likely even more in the bag that isn't on film, yet. I think they have a few things earmarked for this one. Even in a loss, I still see the Bills defense slowing the Miami offense. I can't see Allen staying patient and throwing checkdowns in this one. He's a competitor and he's likely going to feel he needs to push to keep up with the Miami offense causing a few mistakes. -
Yeah, I bet Rodgers is glad he got out of there when he did. A guy could get really hurt playing behind an OL like the Pack have.
-
I feel like guys like Kelce and Gronk made people forget how dominant Tony Gonzalez was as a TE. Dude was a BEAST.
-
I was somewhat shocked they didn't take Torrence in the 2nd. Really felt like he's a Dan Campbell type player. Thankful they didn't though.

Al: "Green Bay wants to get the hell off the field" Cranky Al is a national treasure. By the 4th quarter of these games he's downright hysterical.
-
Poise. Focus. This describes Jordan Love indeed.
-
No. Sometimes he's just awful.
-
Does Love possess the EJ Manual hard count?
-
Green Bay special teams is very undisciplined. Rich Bisaccia is supposed to be a solid ST coach. Not sure what's going on there....
-
Jordan Love looks like someone tried to draw Patrick Mahomes from memory and failed miserably.
-
Green Bay is awful.

You can keep saying we "lost to Zach Wilson" until the cows come home to make it sound worse. Wilson did nothing to beat us. We lost to a defense that played well, a fluke PR, and the restlessness of Josh Allen. We beat ourselves. At the end of the day, we lost on the road to a division rival. They lost their home opener to an inferior team. At the very least on the loss scale I would call those about as equally bad losses. Nothing that should overwhelmingly tip the scale into their favor in any kind of rankings.

Perhaps. By the same token, Chris Jones didn't have a TC Didn't practice on a field. Stepped right in and was ready. Ow, granted the injury is a steeper slope to overcome, but in NFL players are in the top 1% condition wise I'd place a bet Von keeps himself in the top 1% of that 1%. In any event, I believe he'll be ready mich sooner then the timeline we saw with Tre White.
