  1. Last year Tyler Huntley was a Pro Bowler. The year before Mac Jones was a Pro Bowler. People need to stop using that as a justification on someone's current play level. Aside from some contractual language and bonus money it's meaningless. That being said, age and injury have definitely caught up to Poyer and had an adverse reaction to his play. The thing that he (and Hyde) still have is experience in the system, experience with each other and great communication. However, physically he just isn't what he was...and that happens. He lost a step when physically he didn't have many steps to lose.
  2. So, with Kincaid iffy to clear concussion protocol, I would think there's a chance that we see an elevation for Joel Wilson in addition to Ingram at CB. Or maybe they just roll with Knox limited snaps and Morris/Gilliam getting a lot of extra work.
  3. I would be happy with a 1 point win and no new injuries.
  4. Talent wise before losing White, Milano and Jones this was a top 5 unit. And it translated to the field. After losing that much talent this probably drops them to top 10-12 on paper. We we see how it translates to actual play. In my eyes everything that a defense does is set off the pass rush...and ours is still near the top of the league. Even losing a bit of pass rush juice Jones brought. If we can still apply pressure it masks the lack of speed in the back half. It helps the boundary CBs have to cover for less time. It makes life easier for everyone. Talent wise we may be down, but let's see what McDermott can do and will do scheme wise to make up for it. Thankfully, we have the Giants and Patriots back to back and it will give them the ability to try some things out and see where they stand.
  5. I've said all week that the time to see what Elam can possibly be is right now. In the next 2 weeks there is no long flight to London. There is no WR the level of Ridley/Kirk on the Giants or Patriots. He's gotten he feet wet so to speak with some game action this year. I would play him as many snaps as possible in these next 2 games and hopefully he can build some confidence before facing Evans/Godwin in 3 weeks. The BEST case scenario for the Bills is that in the next 14 days the light goes on and he balls out. Even if he plays average or slightly below...let him take some lumps and learn so he's peaking around the playoffs.
  6. I will write a sternly worded letter to Terry Pegula and ask to see his manager.
  7. I sort of disagree with this. Might be time to change the narrative that we are weak inside on the OL. They did well against the Jets DL. The Commanders DL. They held Wilkens in check. Williams of the Jets wasn't a factor. If anything I'd call it strength vs strength. Our weak spots are at the tackle positions. I don't thing they have the edge rushers to exploit that.
  8. I have thought about this one a LOT this week. Mind drifted to several guys before making the decision. And it's one I feel strongly about today. Kaiir Elam. This week Elam won't be in his first game action of the year. No jet lag. And he won't be asked to cover Calvin Ridley or Christian Kirk. The Giants don't have a boundary WR of that talent. Add in that with a depleted OL and backup Tyrod Taylor.... pressure may force the opportunity for a huge rebound game and some MUCH needed confidence for the hotly debated former 1st rounder.
  9. I believe before the season Beane was talking about (I think Isabella) someone possibly stepping in as a KR/PR to allow Harty to focus on just the WR duties he's learning. That to me would be the move if Beane made this kind of move. That would be pretty much all I see Patterson doing here barring injuries. Could be a nice help, but then it's a ST roster spot. IIRC Patterson was a free agent not long ago and it seemed like there was some mutual interest before he went back to the Falcons.
  10. THIS is the video that shows me I want nothing to do with him. Dude is standing around, helmet in hand shouting and dancing around....and look behind him. Teammates getting ready for the game. Warming up. Going through routes and catching passes. Heck, one guy almost runs into him. Nah. He's NOT talented enough to put up with that. Hard pass.
  11. "Trade for Jeudy!!!!" "Give up the farm for Surtain!!!!" More realistic in season Beane move:
  12. Being that New Jersey is a trash state...I'm making Garbage Plates.
  13. If you zoom in you can see the Broncos have an audible call of "Flutie".
  14. Agree. Here's the thing. With the losses to key players on defense I expect the Bills to take the next 2 weeks and try some things. Experiment, if you will. It's an excellent opportunity to pick up 2 wins while trying to see what backups can step up and how to run the defense with the absence of White, Jones and Milano. On offense it's a good chance to put some things on tape. Get Kincaid and Co involved. Wins are wins. There are no style points in the NFL. Early season is time to stack wins and figure out your team. This gives them the opportunity to do just that.
  15. I agree with you saying there's a risk in not doing anything at this point. I do think a proven option on offense would be a great move. Just not sure Juedy is the move. That's just the move people want to make because he's a guy they heard of that's rumored to be available. The list of guys that Beane is hearing may be available is likely much longer. I remember, and I quite certain Brandon Beane does, when the Bills gave up a 3rd (and a late round pick IIRC) for a guy that showed minimal effort and immaturity in Kelvin Benjamin. We know how that turned out. It would shock me if he makes the same move twice.
  16. Wilson definitely isn't what he once was. But he's getting no help from his OL.
  17. Agree about Evero. I think he wasn't interested in staying after he was passed over for the HC job...which he did interview for. It was likely a year or two early for Evero to get a HC job...but he's a guy that will likely get one in a few years and I think he will do well. Biggest problem with their defense right now is they don't have the personal that fits the style Vance wants to play. It's a terrible combination.
  18. I can't blame them for trying to land a perceived franchise QB. If we didn't have Allen we would have BEGGED to make that trade at the time. That trade turned out bad. I personally think the trade for Sean Payton was worse even if it cost a bit less.
  19. Don't undersell the Buccaneers. They aren't a bad football team...and definitely not on par with what the Giants or Patriots are right now. And as far as Baker Mayfield...well his team won the last time he played us. They, at least, have some playmakers on both sides of the ball and can be dangerous.
  20. The Giants are bad. And severely banged up.
  21. Right now the Bills should not have any "trade targets". They should be seeing what an expanded role for Settle and Poona Ford looks like. Reconfigure after a couple weeks. In the next 2 weeks we play 2 of the worst offenses in the NFL. This is excellent timing for Buffalo to get a good luck at new starters and evaluate from there. If the results are poor, I am sure there will be some activity to look for help. McDermott said yesterday, they will look for help from within first and go outside if needed.
  22. Yes but need for your team still has to dictate. Obviously, if the player fits a need you go all in if another contender is trying as well. But if it just to stack a player at a position you don't need filled it's a waste of cap space and possibly hindering the opportunity to shore up your squad in another area. For the Bills right now EDGE is not a need.
  23. It really shouldn't. You sign players that fit your scheme and your team. If you're adding players (and I assume you would be talking about high level guys) that don't improve what you do just so another team can't sign, ultimately you are paying big bucks and getting reduced output back from it. Horrible way to manage a team. Now if the player fits and can improve your team...so be it.
  24. If you make moves just to prevent another team from signing a guy you are running your organization poorly. Should we also call and overpay the Jets for Mecole Hardman? A 2nd could accomplish it. As far as should they have interest...IMO no.
