  1. Oh no! This confirms he's going to ask for a trade to the 49ers. Maybe we can get Sam Darnold in return. I hate this step of the process.
  2. Agree, Marlowe is the only one that makes total sense. With Hines restructure and his return ability it makes more sense to keep him and his value may increase if Cook misses any time with injury. Murray doesn't make sense as a cut candidate for what they would save by it. I have said in the past that there may be a path where he does not start on the 53 man roster but is placed on the practice squad to start the year. This keeps him available in case Harris misses time and for him, keeps him local where he wants to be to set up his post playing career. It would be a win/win for player and team and it would not shock me if this was discussed prior to his signing here. Morse is the tricky one. The price tag is rather high and his concussion history is an issue. Yes, the Bills would save a huge amount with a cut. However, they had better be darn sure that Bates, Edwards or whoever they slot in there isn't a downgrade. They spend money to bring in some FA (potential) upgrades and invested hight draft capital (2nd rounder) for another to upgrade the IOL. I don't see them willing to possibly throw that into disarray by moving on from the guy that has been the most consistent OL we have had.
  3. Best players stay. That's just how it is. I like Hamlin. Liked him even before the unfortunate incident he had. For his lack of experience I though he played reasonably well last year and had a ton of upside with room to get better with experience. If he is physically well and mentally ready for football, I see no way he doesn't make the team on his own merits. If not they will not carry him "just because". And I'm cool with that. I'm sure Damar will get another opportunity if he somehow doesn't make the roster, maybe even back home in Pittsburgh.
  4. Can we be sure it wasn't really OJ's son that had the heart attack?
  5. One from each division: AFCE: New England finishes 10-7 and makes WC. Having a true OC is the difference AFCN: Steelers finish 10-7 miss playoffs. Pickett takes leap forward. AFCS: Houston give Jacksonville a run for their money for division crown AFCW: Sean Payton flops in Denver. Move on from Wilson after season NFCE: Giants finish last in division. Danny Dimes takes steps backwards. NFCN: Packers finish 9-8 clinch WC. Love proves capable as mid level starter. NFCS: Arthur Smith finally figures out how to use Pitts. Falcons win division by 3 games. NFCW: Purdy was a flash in the pan. Sam Darnold leads 49ers to division crown, deep playoff run before his mistakes cost team SB appearance. Bonus: AFCCG: Buffalo at Kansas City NFCCG: Dallas at Philadelphia Super Bowl: Buffalo vs Dallas Picking 1st overall next year: Arizona Coaches Fired: Kevin Stefanski Dennis Allen Ron Rivera Brandon Staley Robert Saleh
  6. These are new times. While we may not see a coach's head go through a wall...we do have a coach that is a World Champion patio chair thrower. I'd dub Kromer the "Josh Allen of patio furniture". Anything is still possible.
  7. That's some off brand looking toilet paper right there.
  8. I fully agree. As a matter of fact he can go play in the USFL if he doesn't want to be here. Joe Cribbs is easily replaceable.
  9. I think players nowadays look at things way different than the old days. Back then they legitimately didn't like guys from division or conference rivals. These days it's a business. Players are often working out together with guys from other teams. Guys have connections to every locker room. Plus guys team hop so often now that everyone knows everyone.
  10. Cool story. Next time add explosions and maybe a nice car chase. Adds to the excitement.
  11. No objections for that. They are. Harty is on his 2nd team. Sherfield his fourth. But I don't see that as a negative. By that definition Beasley (Bills were his 2md team), John Brown (Bills were his 3rd in his first run), Crowder (Bills 3rd team) were journeymen as well. In fact, more players then not in this day and age would fall under "journeymen" label.
  12. Champions of the AFC four years in a row is not bad by any metric. It astonishes me to this day how fans from other teams use that as a put down for this franchise. Those games were 30 years ago. Not one player, scout or executive (or owner) is around from that era anymore to my knowledge. Maybe a few of the gate guards because some of them look ancient. It's almost as irrelevant as when Jet fans yell "yeah but we have a Super Bowl" that was what...50 years ago? That a very high percentage of them weren't even alive to see? At least a good amount of us have SEEN our team in a Super Bowl.
  13. I think as a defensive coach he's pretty solid. Head coach wise I think he falls into the Rex Ryan category. Boisterous blowhard that loves the headlines. I do like his shiny head though. Much better to look at than McDermott's dull dome. As far as coaches that may hold the Jets back...we can add ol Nate Hackett to that list. His playcalling makes Dorsey look like Andy Reid.
  14. Ok... 1. I was responding to you. I included my thoughts on PFF and their accuracy. 2. McGovern was "totally unplayable" in run blocking...but somehow the Cowboys managed to end up 8th overall in rushing yards last year with a broke down Zeke handling a lot of the runs. Odd. Being that he has to replace Saffold if McGovern doesn't fall over at the snap...there's an upgrade. And even if he does it may still work better. 3. Half of what you reply here is utter nonsense. But I will reply with this. McKenzie wasn't a trail blazer. 42 catches for a bit over 400 yards is what he had. In this offense it's almost silly to think production out of the slot won't be upgraded between Sherfield, Harty and Kincaid. Nowhere did I say anything about Cook going for 2,000 yards or anyone being a "star". Making things up to overblow your opinion is a weird thing to do. Fortunately, we don't need stars. We need football players that play a role on the team. Cook will have a role. Harty, Sherfield, Kincaid, Cook, Harris....none of them have to be NFL All Pros. They need to play their spot and make the most of opportunity. Will they? I have no idea. But neither do you. That's the whole point.
  15. I love all these articles that say "I was told" that are just guesses. Told by...who? "Team insider"? Diggs himself? The pizza delivery guy? Now I know no one will reveal their "source" but it really undermines how seriously to take any report when we get no idea the level of knowledge whoever told him actually may have.
  16. The league would sweep any of those names under the rug soooooo fast.
  17. Pretty cool for them to be recognized for their work. Definitely deserving. Congratulations to them!
  18. Not really. Most of the guys mentioned are in year 1 or 2 of their NFL career. I think it's fair to say they may end up fringe starters but you or I have no idea how guys like Cook, Elam or Benford will turn out in their second year. Or guys like Kincaid or Torrence will be this year (let alone next). Brown looked like a fringe guy last year, but had some solid play his rookie season. No saying how he will be this year if back to full health.
  19. Spencer Brown and Groot are starters. They are out of the 2021 class. Elam and Cook will either start or see a pretty high snap share most likely with Benford getting a lot of time on the field as well. I think it would be foolish to write off Torrence winning a starting spot at some point this season if not week 1. Kincaid may not "start" but again, completely plausible he sees a high volume work load. And depending on the formation they line up in may "start" some as well. Your whole statement is overblown Yes, the Bills have missed on a some picks. But right there are SEVEN guys that either will start or have an impactful role on the team.
  20. The proof will come either way when the games kick off, for sure. Some things to consider. 1. Starting a statement out with "according to PFF" is pretty much like quoting Wikipedia as a source. PFF proves absolutely nothing and should be taken with a huge grain of salt IMO. 2. McGovern's strength is reported to be his pass blocking. Which was a huge weakness last year. Immediate pressure up the middle in Allen's face way too often. Being that he only has to be better than Saffold was last year...I think we can expect an upgrade. How much remains to be seen. Edwards spent much of last year injured, however prior to that was pretty solid under Kromer. It's logical to think he could have some bounce back. One of the 2 rookies was considered by some as the top G prospect in the draft. Gave up zero sacks in his college career and is a stout pass blocker. Again, reasonable to expect at some point him to be an improvement. 3. Harty and Sherfield are basically this year's McKenzie and Kumerow replacements. Being TD Jesus missed most of the year and McKenzie was at times a disaster...the bar there isn't real high for improvement, either. Now add in Kincaid as well to that mix and again, reasonable to believe the cumulative output will eclipse what we had last year. While some (not directed at you) like to take the pessimistic approach and say that this changes aren't enough because they aren't already proven...other can see things from a different angle. And neither side is wrong...until the pads go on the games kick off and we see how everything blends together. What's interesting to me is that as a team coming off 13 wins, a top offense in the league and a perennial playoff team...we have a ton of competition for starting spots or meaningful roles going into this season. This should be fun!
  21. Why not? It's not like there weren't complaints last year and nothing changed. What makes the red suddenly find their flags this year? I buy it. Don't need tight coverage on a guy that won't make a play on the ball.
  22. Not a "sports story" exactly. But it does involve Fred Smerlas soooo... I was 13 and it was during the 1988 season. Smerlas was doing an appearance at the tiny mall in Batavia. Autograph, photos that sort of thing. So I remember my mother bringing me up there even though it was snowing at a pretty good clip and I was pretty stoked because I played NT as well at the time. So we get up there as stand in line. When it was time Smerlas wasn't there. 15 minutes go by. Then 30. Then an hour. People are PI$$ED. Some left and some stayed. Everyone who stayed was bad mouthing Smerlas. Anyway fast forward to about an hour and 15 minutes past the time he was supposed to show and we are about to leave. This absolutely MAMMOTH of a dude walks in and hushed all these PO'd grown men with a glance. It was Smerlas who simply said something to the effect of "Yea I'm late. It snowed. You want a picture or not?". Not 1 person dared say a bad thing to him. Dude was a BEAST.
