  1. Brad Butler retired way too soon. Brian Brohm never got a fair chance. Kelvin Benjamin was a Popeyes biscuit away from being a TE. And then he converted to TE. Kevin Kolb hates rubber mats. Gibran Hamden was prettier than Matt Milano.
  2. Jamie Mueller had quite possibly the manliest mustache in the history of the world.
  3. I believe there are some people in New Orleans that would dispute that sentiment...
  4. I agree. The Bills need something in addition. Unfortunately, they had invested already in the WR room before Hopkins was made an option. I would suspect that after talking to Hopkins (which the Bills reportedly did) and Arizona about compensation the investment wasn't worth it, so Beane went to plan B and invested a 1st round pick in a pass catcher. After investing so much in cap and draft assets I can understand not wanting to invest highly at that point. Now, while we need something else in addition to Diggs, nothing says it has to come all from 1 player. The NFL is a matchup league. It's up to Dorsey now to find where the mismatch is every week and attack that. We can run 12 (well, 11.5) personal. We have speed. We have runners that can run between the tackles and runners with speed that can bounce outside as well as catch passes. And soooo many more options. Not to mention we have Allen. If we have a different guy to step into that "2nd guy" role every week...so be it. This season is, IMO just as important for Dorsey to find ways to exploit these matchups and use these guys as it is on these guys stepping up and into a role. And if all the new options don't click for whatever reason I wouldn't rule out a deadline trade for a WR as we have a lot of draft capital next year. The sky really isn't falling IMO.
  5. Spoiler alert: No team has someone like Kelce. He's a one of one at this point from a skills and mismatch level. This doesn't mean there is no other team in the NFL can take risks on supporting cast. This is also being a tad misleading as Kelce is their top target. We have Diggs who, production wise is on the same level. In my OP I compared how Moore and Shakir had the same season. Also how Harty and Toney were both red alert injury risks. Now add to that the production of Kelce vs Diggs is equivalent. On to of that we still have Davis, Knox and Kincaid. KC seems like they are the ones a bit thinner to me.
  6. Skyy Moore had largely the same season that Shakir had last year. Neither could find snaps. Neither appeared to gain the coaching staff's trust. Moore was nothing special last year. Toney mave have the worst hamstrings in NFL history. There's a chance he misses a ton of time every year. How people can legitimately say that those 2 are better investments than Shakir and Harty at this point because Shakir couldn't find the field and Harty has had injury issues is laughable. Now, 3 years down the road perhaps it's a different tune if Toney gorilla glues those hamstrings together and Moore finds a map so he knows where to go on the field...but for now it's the same picture.
  7. Oh for sure, different things factor in for different guys. As much as some fans refuse to see it, these people are humans as well and things factor in for them much the same it would for you and me when thinking about switching places of employment. Things like taxes, quality of life in the area you're uprooting to and about a thousand other factors. Picking somewhere because of a ring or even at times it's the biggest paycheck I don't believe is as much of a thing as fans make it out to be. Sure there are some that will, but if I'm betting I would say less than 20% of players base their choice on just one of those 2 factors. There have been many well documented cases of Buffalo losing out on FAs because the guy's wife didn't want to move to Buffalo...lol. We have been told that it was NE and Tenn that had contract offers out for Hopkins this late in the game...and he took the deal from a team where he is familiar with one coach and had a good relationship (Vrabel) over the team that employs a guy that reportedly trashed Hopkins for having his kids mom's around and compared him to Aaron Hernandez. Relationships matter lol
  8. While this is a nice theoretical analysis of Hopkins's bank account your point really is moot. Yes, in theory he "could have" joined whatever team he wanted. But why would he do that? Why would he subject his body to the rigors of an NFL season without proper compensation? Would you take significantly less than your value to work for a company because at the end of the year they MAY win a team accomplishment? Without knowing what (and more to the point IF teams like the Bills or Chiefs offered) we have no idea how far apart any offers may have been. So the Titans offered $26M over 2 years. Let's say hypothetically Beane offered $14M over the same length. Why in the world would anyone expect him to take that? For a ring? Fans really still think most players care about winning a championship ring above all else? That's a fairy tale, my friend. Right up there with the rest of the PR things guys say when they sign with a team. Now, if the money is close...sure maybe a ring opportunity comes into play. Same scenario as above where Tenn offers 2/26M and Buffalo comes in at 2/22M...ok. But no one should take below their market value. Be it in the NFL, in corporate world or even working at a local fast food joint. ***Edit: just saw your replies to others that came when I was typing this.
  9. If only that were true. Anytime Davis drops a ball or if the Bills lose a close game next year we will hear "that doesn't happen if we signed DHop"
  10. Buffalo hasn't built a roster capable of running the ball when the defense expects it. They have gone for more "athletic" OL in the past and not the types of people that blow people off the ball. Even with that as a fact, Buffalo has maintained pretty decent YPC from RBs year in and year out. The issue isn't the ability the issue is the willingness. Why hand the ball directly off to a RB when you can keep it in Allen's hands? I think with the addition of Torrence and the focus on guys that can run between the tackles (Harris and Murray) along with a renewed focus on having Allen rush less on designed plays the narrative that the Bills can't run will die out a bit.
  11. Yes, I'm sure BB would JUMP at the chance to be a DC again after having total control over one of the most successful dynasties in sports history. Tell him McDermott likes his coffee black with a couple shortbread cookies on the side.
  12. US residents? Living in Europe or stateside. I can tell you this much. When NFLE was started there was some excitement. However, the football was trash compared to the skill of the NFL product and the excitement died very very quickly. They bled cash because not enough people cared about watching a league of second and third stringers. And yes, while some great players did end up coming from NFLE (Vinateri, Kurt Warner, even coaches like Sean Payton) the majority of the roster could not compete with the NFL product and people flat out didn't watch. Not every day you see something with a corporation like the NFL machine behind it fail after....what was it 2 seasons? Guess those Germans really didn't matter in the long run, then.
  13. Cool. But it was really bad football played by subpar players for teams no one really cared about that quickly closed shop.
  14. This reeks of a stateside version of NFL Europe.
  15. Josh will put it on for "Netflix and chill" time. The horn ball.🤣🤣
  16. I keep getting e-mails from Gruden instead. Should I call my ticket rep?
  17. Didn't say I felt sorry for him. Gruden likely never had to work again with his career earnings anyway. But by and large he becomes the face of public ridicule and scorn with a lot less to show for it. Different rules apply for you and I then a millionaire like Gruden. And different rules apply for millionaires than billionaires.
  18. While I do not condone anything Gruden said and say that there should have been some repercussion from the e-mails, it's just so odd that he gets fired, public image destroyed, becomes basically unable to be hired and cast out as a plague on society (on some of those fronts deservingly so)....and Dan Snyder gets about $6 BILLION dollars and goes on his merry way.
  19. There's a few worthy names there. Lester Hayes should have made it the traditional way. Roger Craig was a precursor to Thurman. Carl Banks and Clay Matthews I would think stand a chance as well. Kenny Anderson may be the most underrated QB of his era.
  20. Well, for this chapter I would label it "inconclusive". I do believe that had he kept playing Luck may have ended up with a Super Bowl appearance or two. However, for the most part I do agree with you. Football is too unpredictable a sport to rely on that "one guy" coming in, being what he was supposed to be, staying healthy and surrounding him with the players, coaches and system for them to be worth a true tank. And even then you have to worry about teams like KC, Philly, Buffalo ect that will build something better and you have to overcome all that in a single elimination playoff scenario.
  21. Nope. Great skills. Put up solid numbers when he played. My personal criteria for HoF is: can you tell the story of the era of football they played without mentioning their name? If the answer is yes, then they don't belong. Luck was good, but never really moved the needle of the era IMO.
