Mid Season Super Bowl Predictions. Who Ya got?
BuffaloBillyG replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
When I was thinking about this before making the thread, Baltimore was at the top of my list for AFC teams I thought could make it. However I still think they (Lamar specifically) have a lot to prove before being a pick. Will Lamar finally finish a season on the field? And will "Playoff Lamar" show up if he's on the field? San Francisco has a shot...but are a CMC injury away from going to frontrunner to being one of 5 teams that could make a run IMO. As far as myself: I want Buffalo/Detroit. I think that would be an amazing game for 2 fanbases that deserve it. Before the season my thought was Kansas City vs San Francisco. Still could be. BUT... Right now It really feels like a screwy year where about 6 teams from each conference could end up there. In the NFC, I think the Eagles Shove their way in. And looking at the AFC, it comes down to matchups. And the Bills match up well against the top AFC teams. Ok, so we have made it about to the halfway point. Most teams have had some injuries, some teams surprising. So with that I have 3 questions concerning everyone's Super Bowl pick. 1. Who did you think would make it before the season? 2. Of all the teams in the running, who do you WANT to see matched up in the Bowl? 3. What 2 teams to you THINK will make the Super Bowl.

This. I get the idea behind it. And the theory that a team is going to pick the play/formation they feel most comfortable with in a big spot and they can get a peek. My issue is he does it all the time. Teams scout opponents coaching tendency. If teams notice he does that it wouldn't shock me if they pick a dummy play or formation to come out in. Then pick the play they really want the second time while McDermott sets the defense up to expect something else.

Going into last year Hamlin was the 4th S. Hyde and Poyer were of course one and two. But when I jury happened there it was Jaquan Johnson that had first dibs with Hamlin taking over after Johnson flopped. This year, Hamlin appears to still be the 4th safety. Rapp is more an upgrade on Johnson. It's the development of Cam Lewis to cover every DB position as well as ST that makes it necessary to dress 3 true safeties. Now the argument may be made that Lewis has passed him at the S position, but that's really only fan speculation.

I mean, we've done it multiple times this year. Wonder if not wanting to subject your $250M franchise quarterback to that kind of pounding when he has a bad shoulder has anything to factor in...

So, it's ok for posters to over scrutinize the Bills...but not ok to over scrutinize posters opinions on the over scrutinization?
-
So, let's fire Alec Anderson into the sun as well. Hoser hasn't been active all season.

From what I can tell from what has been mentioned he did have surgery and is back at the facility doing rehab Anything more than that is anyone's guess.

Would you be for "Eye in the Sky" officiating?
BuffaloBillyG replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't know what the answer should be, but eye in the sky seems like it would disrupt the game flow. Imaging trying to run a no huddle and refs on the field trying to give the video official time to buzz in or review a possible holding call. One thing I DO wish is that the NFL was more transparent. One of the other leagues...think it was XFL...would cut to the replay officials so you could see them review a play in real time and hear what they are looking at. Same should be done for those discussions after a flag is thrown. Let's hear WHY they see these flags or not. -
Weird that coaching is ruining Elam. Same coaching staff that has done excellent building Levi Wallace, Dane Jackson and Christian Benford at the same position. But it's just Elam that they ruin.

I'll say this much. Settle didn't impress yet again. However even though I e been down on him so far this year...Poona Ford actually seemed to play pretty well last night.

Mixon has been largely ineffective so far this year. He's at 3.8 YPC. I think that has some to do with the OL and some to do with him aging. I wouldn't doubt we see that dime look a bit more against Cincy, however it's not uncommon for a guy like Mixon to hit his straide against the Bills. We always seem to be the "get right" for a struggling star😂

Bills fans cheering for the Pats on Sunday?
BuffaloBillyG replied to PatsFanNH's topic in The Stadium Wall
Nope. NE can burn in hell. We are one game back of Miami and still have a game with them and the tie breaker. -
I'm actually wondering if the Bills end up circling back and reschedule a visit with Leonard Fournette if Harris isn't coming back soon. We need that guy to pick up the tough 1-2 yards and goal line work. And with Allen having a bad shoulder it shouldn't be him for the time being.
-
The one thing he's still doing well is pass block/blitz pick up. That's also the one area Cook is seriously struggling. But even as a short yardage/goal line runner he hasn't been effective. That is why Harris had that role.
-
I knew Dodson was starting seeing the majority of time...but they couldn't even work Williams in for a series or two? Now some of that may have had to do with all the dime looks...but odd to me.

Some very interesting things (at least to me). 1. Latavius Murray gets less snaps. He had been almost 50/50 the last few weeks. He's also been less effective as a runner to my eyes. Getting stuffed at the goal line and short yardage. Something to watch. 2. Shakir' snaps WAYYYYYY up. Harty way down. 3. Neither Josh Norman or Andy Isabella recorded a snap on offense or defense. 4. Buffalo ran 69 offensive plays. Nice. 5. Rapp had his highest snap count of late as the Bills played more dime than normal. (Dodson was taken off field for these snaps.) 6. Dorian Williams with ZERO snaps. 7. Von in on 40% of the snaps. Had a nice pressure on Mayfield late but couldn't close out the sack. 8. David Edwards was essentially TE2 last night when needed. (Wasn't often)

I agree. A win is never a bad thing. Are there things left to clean up and correct? Absolutely. Did we see some signs that they are already in the process of making changes? Without a doubt. Getting Kincaid, Shakir and Davis rolling was HUGE for the offense. We've identified some playmakers not named Diggs. That's going to help big time. Problem here with MANY in the fan base is they have become almost self entitled. If the Bills don't completely dominate it's a "bad win". The important things I take away from last night: - 5-3 after 8 games. I had us at 6-2 before the season here. That's 1 game off and still can make it up. - Mini bye right now is HUGE. The injury list has been long. More than that we have hit the part of the season where guys who AREN'T on the injury list are playing through some things. The next 10 days gives them all time to rest, rehab and prep for Cincinnati. - Seems like aside from Josh's shoulder we came out of last night without any major injuries. I don't hate where we are at right now.
-
In retrospect, there may have been a reason not to "tush push". Not sure if jamming Josh into that pile is a smart move with the shoulder bothering him. As a matter of fact, that's pretty reckless IMO depending on the severity. No reason for him to take those extra hits. Being Harris is on IR I would assume you meant Murray getting that carry instead. They did hand it to him a few times inside the 5 at times and had no success with it. I would agree, though shotgun is rarely the formation Id use at the goal line. Maybe on a second down or something to spread it out and attempt a QB draw. But they need to use the next 10 days and figure out how to pinch it in when close. It's becoming a tad ridiculous at this point.

This win gives something to everyone. There were a ton of positives to be optimistic about. There were some issues the pessimistic posters will cry about. Either way it's a win and I'm going to bed lol
-
Tampa literally had every bounce of the ball land their way. We still found a way. Got the win. Looking like we came out healthy. Got Shakir, Kincaid and Davis to pop off a bit. And now 10 days to rest and work out some bugs and prep for Cincinnati. 5-3? I'll take it.
