The Bills are fine on the edge going into the season without Hoecht, but still could draft a guy early at edge if someone they like falls.
The Ogunjobi suspension could hurt as the Bills have a washed up Jones, Oliver and Carter as the only true DT’s. Jones shouldn’t be playing another down for the Bills, but if they don’t pick up two legitimate DT’s, he may be forced to play and that’s NOT GOOD.
There will be additions at DT. If all else fails don't be shocked to see Jordan Phillips come back to help out early in the season.

It would never ask for a trade, get traded or change positions.
Never leave for free agency.
Never hold out for money.
Never be out of style.
The last few years I've focused my jersey purchases on old times players. I now have a Kelly, Bruce, Thurman, Andre, Beebe, and a Kelso one. My next one on the list ..Riddick 40.

HGH, EPO, among so many other PEDS, are SOP, it is humorous that some folk think the league is clean, when it so obviously isn’t, and you are correct, who cares? The league office knows full well that PED use is common place, and has been for many decades, why the charade?
They charade is for the reason that most things come down to. Money.
NFL has to present that they are strict on PEDs usage so years after a player retires and has physical issues from the years of usage, they can't sue the NFL as being negligent.
It all comes down to removal of liability.

Some interesting things: Beane mentioned how much they wanted Michael Hoecht. The fact they knew and still wanted him, makes me think they have special plans for him. I see him as a guy who "floats." He can rush the passer; he can play the 2nd LB when we play someone like Baltimore to help with Henry. He can also line up on a TE. This kid can be something, I think.
The other thing is that we are in 2025, and some people think that pro athletes don't use anabolics. Not all do, but I would bet 90% or more do, at least in the offseason. I can tell you things like SARMS are on the list and its idiotic, but the NFL has to keep up some stupid perception they are policing Drugs of all forms. But hey, if they beat their girlfriend they would only get 2 games or none at all.
Agree 100%
I think they see Hoecht as a more athletic Zo Alexander. We really haven't had someone like that since he retired.
And agree. Humans don't typically get this big and fast just from lifting weights and exercising. It's simple fact. And it's a farce that the NFL polices this so heavily while rewarding them with huge paydays at the same time.

First off, BS. Second, even if it was steroids, who cares? I am sick of the naive BS on this board. If posters don't think several, if not many, Bills take some anabolic or HgH in the offseason, I don't know what to tell you.
Third, the bolded part, Ogunjobi has NEVER failed a test before. All you need to do is do a little research. "The 30-year-old has no history of testing positive and, last season, was the Pittsburgh Steelers nominee for Walter Payton Man of the Year".
You all need to relax
I wonder how many of the people clutching their pearls and complaining about this are in the same group of people the yell and scream about not wanting a team of "choir boys" and that a locker room with the high character it's said we have can absorb a few guys with some character issues.
I'm willing to bet the overlap is fairly high

Of course there should be exemptions. The Ogunjobi suspension we didn't know about prior to signing. And there would be a competitive disadvantage for something not the team's fault.
Except according to them, they did know before the contract was signed. That was something that held it up because it was just before the deal was signed. They looked back at the market and being a day or two had passed and the player pool had been milked dry, chose to proceed.
It is what it is. I was anxious to see these new guys as well. But the roster is still deep and we should be able to hide being short handed for a few games. Groot, Bosa, Oliver, AJE will likely absorb a few extra snaps a game while the younger players we have can get some valuable playtime.

To be frank, the first six games don't matter. On the one hand, every game matters, but on the other about three to four really matter for us. Ultimately one.
Frank,
All the games add up. Starting out winning does matter in the end. Ask Cincinnati. But to be fair, hopefully Bosa will be healthy and be a beast the first 6 weeks to offset it.

30 when the season starts and injury history is not in his favor, good move for just one year. get the most out of him in the rotation, should be an upgrade over miller?
Look at it like this.
Bosa having a one year deal means he has to produce if her wants one final big contract be it here or somewhere else. He has to put up the numbers that show he's still a top pass rusher. Can't do that from the trainers room.
I think we see his name on the injury report frequently. I also think come game time he will be out there and dominate. His whole future pay depends on it.
-
Here's my only problem. These guys were enhancing their bodies and were given a contract offer based on how they performed while in them. If they are smart (which no promises they are) they will be off them for at least the foreseeable future.... potentially reducing their play.
In short we ordered Steve Rodgers after the Captain America syrum and may end up with the 80 year old weak geek on the field.

Ogunjobi is just a 1 year deal. Why would they still sign him to an $8 mil contract if he will be suspended 6 games!?
I think (and someone will surely correct me if I'm wrong here) but he doesn't get paid for those 6 weeks which would mean that money. would go back onto our cap. Basically works as a prorated contract.

I like how he says, "coming back to a football town". He is going to love the atmosphere at Highmark Stadium. Big difference from LA where they don't really care about the NFL.
Playing in LA/SD all these years he always struck me as a guy that adapted to that culture of not really caring. And was still dominant for many of those years.
Coming back to a football town in a close knit team...could rekindle him a bit too. I think he's gonna be motivated by the fans and city as well as just having a 1 year deal...he knows he has to be on the field producing for next off-season if he wants to get paid.
I think it's a perfect storm to see the best version of Bosa this year. He's gonna be a dang beast.

And that should (thankfully) end the Rasul Douglas experience here.
Dane plus a rookie or two is about as good as we were likely to get in this spot IMO.

Dolphins would have been wise to move for a better backup than the MILF Hunter. Not saying Rodgers would have taken that role. But Russ Wilson just may have. Russ moon balls to Hill and Waddle would have been an issue if/when Tua misses time.

Amari was a good vet that helped out. Maybe not to the degree that was expected. But it did open things up for others which is what LAST YEARS team needed.
This years team needs, IMO, a bit of speed. If we are going to reel in an older vet (which I'm not convinced they will), I'd maybe kick the tires on Brandin Cooks to add some field stretching abilities rather than Cooper.

I'd be ok with having him back but it would have to be at the right price if the draft board plays out in a way that doesn't net is a good day 1 or 2 WR.
But I would wait until after the draft. There's still a chance that some team gets desperate and gives him a nice payday on a 1 or 2 year deal that would qualify for the comp pick formula and lessen the blow on spending that pick acquiring him.

I'd be shocked if he even makes it to camp. Seems like a place holder for a camp body if they can't grab a WR in the draft and none of note get cut.
I'm much more eager to see how Shavers does this TC.

Seeing the Saints are in on Kupp. If they get him I wonder if they would make Olave available.

Wilson is meeting with the Browns today and the Giants tomorrow. Both the Steelers and Giants are showing the most interest in Rodgers. Have to think Wilson is plan B for both teams if they can't sign him. Now if Wilson signs with the Browns, then I don't know what plan C will be for the team that doesn't get Rodgers.

Hoecht and Ogunjobi 6 game suspension for PEDs
in The Stadium Wall
Posted
You would be shocked if the Bills brought back a guy that they have let go and brought back at least 4 times?
I get feeling like it's not doing enough and I didn't say that was the only move they would make. But bringing back a guy for the first few games like Phillips or Jefferson that already knows the system is something I would fully expect at this point in addition to a pick or two on the IDL.
