  1. 30 years ago the Pro Bowl was a fun event for the fans and it meant something to the players. Have to remember back then they weren't making the cash they do now. The extra game check did mean something to the players back then and they got a free Hawaiian vacation out of the deal. These days, why would a guy that makes $40M-$50M care about an extra...what $80,000? Heck top flight players are going to lose money in the deal as some are likely shooting s few commercials. And yes, the injury risk is there even even in a flag football game. The only drawback I see to someone like Allen not attending is that I know players use this opportunity to recruit guys and get them to come in as FAs. At least they used to. The last few actual games they tried to play were just an abomination. Though I will admit I don't mind the skills challenge stuff. It's kinda fun to see. I would actually make the "Pro Bowl" more ridiculous of an event. Make it so no one could be in the skills challenge for their own position. So for the QB skills, instead of seeing Minshew and other QBs, I'd have guys like Justin Jefferson, Jason Kelce and so on. Let's see Vita Vea shagging punts. Give me Joe Flacco on the obstacle course. Let's see the tug of war with just kickers and punters.
  2. Hines can end up anywhere from RB2/KR to camp casualty depending on how he heals Typically a RB coming off an ACL isn't ideal.
  3. Nothings wrong with him. Had a nice performance this year. Takes 2 sides to make a deal so who knows if he's back. Buffalo also kept 3 RBs this year. So even if Johnson's back there's room. I don't expect Murray back. Evans is a JAG. And Hines is coming off major injury.
  4. Oh, I agree. Even if he didn't get one of those 3 we likely lose him next cycle. Of course, having the 3 interviews with the promotion right after may lead to believe he was offered or likely to be offered at least one of them. I get that completely. I actually don't mind the Babich promotion at all.
  5. That is an excellent viewpoint. You're betting on the idea that you already brought in the best possible people and have a good plan in place to replace people you lose. It's a great long term approach if you hit on the assistant staff spots. BUT..... Here's the issue. How do you make certain you have the right people if you don't conduct a thorough search? Not even entertain the idea that there may be someone more suited. With the last 3 coordinator openings they followed the same script. Interview the guy from staff. Minority candidate interview. Another minority candidate interview...hire existing employee. Bare minimum. Why not take the opportunity to bring in an extra 3 or 4 guys and see if someone else meshes? Then if Brady for instance makes the most sense...go for it. It's not that I'm upset about either hire. Fully expected and think they both have the ability to do a good job. And most likely in the case of Babich it was going to be promote or lose him. So I get that. But for as detailed as McDermott is said to be it's just shocking that this is his hiring process. Now, why the heck is Coach Smiley still collecting a check?
  6. Interesting (to me at least) enough, CEH is scheduled to be a FA, should command a "Damien Harris" type contract by my count and was running well late in the year. And we could use another back to pair with Cook. 🤔
  7. I'm a believer that as fans locking into any coach is pretty useless. Sure, he's having a nice run as an OC. But can he coach an entire team? What's his personal philosophy? Can he assemble a QUALITY staff. These are much more important than...ohhh shiny OC. And unfortunately, that's something we aren't going to know as we can't sit in on interviews. So in short, I like Ben, just can't be sold on him.
  8. Physically, he's tall yes. But he's pretty lean for his frame l. And yes, that can be corrected with time and training in an NFL program. He also has a few mechanical issues and tends to lock onto a target too long. Pressure gets him nervous. Even unpressured he doesn't seem to see the field too great and will force throws because of deciding before the play where he's throwing rather than read a defense.
  9. So, your perfect dream involves the Bills NOT winning the Super Bowl next year. Got it. Also, allow me to be the first one to pee in everyone's Cheerios for next year. Barring a 5 or 6 win season or the complete loss of the locker room, Sean McDermott isn't going anywhere in 2025. So which of those are you rooting for?
  10. Not to the degree it's become. No. Yes it's gotten more heavily spread with the internet. But no, people weren't crying "rigged". People weren't inventing every excuse they could. We live in a negative society that deflects all blame. Case in point, the Bills have the Greatest Comeback in Playoff history." Every angle every coverage bI have seen about that game is about how the Bills came back...but it's never about how the Oilers choked. Go back as far a last Sunday. Narratives aren't the Chiefs won...it's Lamar chokes. It's not that the 49ers came back. It's that Detroit choked. Nobody will give credit to anyone these days. Easier to just be negative then build a positive.
  11. Normally not a fan of seemingly automatic internal promotions...but this one I like. Bobby seems like a bright young coach that was likely to be a DC in 2025 if not sooner. Glad we are keeping him. Let's see if McDermott gives him full duties and lets him call plays or if he keeps playcalling and brings Babich along slower.
  12. Thought he would end up with Washington. But one of the hottest names for HC is staying out.
  13. Well, draft hype is a lot of times just that. Hype. Remember when some had Ryan Nassib as a first rounder? A lot of that speculation came from Marrone being his college coach and jumping to the Bills. And then once the talk started to connect them other teams were linked. Now, I realize no one is going to link him to the Chargers with Harbaugh being they have Herbert. But once one team is thought to have interest in him by one "draft expert" the other experts will parrot that. Happens every year.
  14. McCarthy is going to be an interesting one to me. He's not a top end guy with the physical intangibles...but in the right system I really think he can do well. He's a guy that may have to helped with a solid run game behind him as well. I think of him in the Brock Purdy tier as his ceiling. I could see either him or Bo Nix doing well in Denver. As for my early favorite prospect...find a way to get that behemoth DT Sweat on the Bills roster.
  15. It's no different than the crowd that insists the NFL is rigged. If it was teams like the Bills/Lions/Browns with dedicated fanbases would have gotten their day in the sun to milk every dollar out of it. David vs Goliath sells. Bills Mafia travels and spends stupid amounts of money. It all boils down to people needing to find a reason their team didn't win. The fix is in. It was rigged. Refs. Taylor Swift. I miss the days where when someone lost or a teams lost it wasn't a million whiney reasons.
  16. Literally everything you are saying is one point of view of stories that are out there. There are other unconfirmed stories of the events surrounding the draft that year. Thank you for your attempt to explain our team history to us, but unless you were there you don't know...you only know which set of unconfirmed stories you choose to believe.
  17. If we're being honest, I'd rather hit "Mama Kelce" with a snowball than Swift.
  18. The NFCCG had more viewers than the AFCCG. So, no. No "huge boost".
  19. As of right now in no particular order: Safety 1T DT EDGE WR OL depth RB Some of these areas will be addressed in FA and some through re-signing some players.
  20. Yea, after all he's accomplished he's not taking a DC role for any team. I actually think he will do well on TV in the pregame show. However, if he's not going to be coaching this year I think (if he's open to it) hiring him in a consultant role may be smart. Say what you will, but McDermott respects Bill a whole lot. And maybe Bill would want to do something with Buffalo as we know he loves him some Josh Allen.
  21. I would like to think it would be somewhat similar to Sam Darnold's trade value, though I don't think they will get that kind of return. The Jets received three picks: a sixth-rounder in the 2021 draft and a second-rounder and fourth-rounder in 2022. I think maybe the Pats would be looking at a conditional 5th or 6th for the 2025 draft and a day 3 pick in this year's.
  22. Let's just ship Mahomes to the new XFL/USFL league and banish him because he always wins and hurts the OP's feelings.
  23. The hated Kansas City Chiefs will be playing a post season game in the Raiders new stadium before the Raiders do. That's actually kind of hysterical to me.
  24. When I think of "hard nosed" coaches, Frank Reich isn't the guy that jumps to the top of the list. And sure, we don't need a QB coach with any kind of career aspersions. Someone that's content to just stay middle management is perfect to get the most out of Allen.
  25. I don't mind the hire. But I don't like the hiring process.
