Salary cap question, Leonard Floyd’s dead cap
BuffaloBillyG replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
The way I understand but (and freely admit I may be wrong) is they had until today to work out a new deal where if they had they 4.3M would have rolled over to his new contract. Being that they didn't it's the same as cutting him due to the contract being voided this the dead cap hit for this season. All in all on that list including Hyde, Settle and others it appears the Bills will be hit with around $12M total dead cap hits today. Very ouch. -
Is it time to grow concerned about Greg Rousseau?
BuffaloBillyG replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
The biggest issue I have had with him is that the last 2 seasons he starts out the season on an absolute heater. Then seems to have a foot/ankle issue that slow him up for the rest of the year. This season I believe it was a broken bone in the foot that they said wouldn't be further injured by playing on it...but it did play into his burst I believe. I'd like to see if he can stay relatively healthy this year or is there is something more chronic that plays into the lower leg issues. I do believe that if relatively healthy he has the tools to be that 8-10 sack a year guy.- 229 replies

Final in depth Salary Cap update by the Cover 1 crew
BuffaloBillyG replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Disagree. YOU have seen him contribute what you are calling next to nothing. What the guys in the locker room have seen is a guy work hard to com back from a major injury. Finish last season being less than himself and work a hard off season to come back better to start this season...which he did. They see that same guy suffer an unfortunate injury and start to come back again. And while they understand the business just simply cutting bait on a player like Tre without giving him options to stay and compete send a very poor message. We aren't the ***** Jets. -
Not my meme. Just thought it was funny/interesting.

Final in depth Salary Cap update by the Cover 1 crew
BuffaloBillyG replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree. When Beane was first hired one of the things he said and it's stuck with me is along the lines of "the locker room pays attention to who you pay and how you treat them". Tre is a popular person in the Bills organization who has spent his entire career here and been an exemplary team leader. You don't just cut bait there. Sends a really poor message What they can do is offer him the cut in pay while giving him incentives to make a fair amount back. Helps the Bills salary cap wise. Helps Tre as if his options are "pay cut or we gotta let ya go" he'll likely still see more from the Bills than he will on the open market. It's a win/win. Bills get some cap relief and Tre gets to stay with the only team he's known and likely makes more than he would as a street FA. -
The Raiders just hired Luke Getsy as their OC. I doubt they bring in Fields to pair with him again. The results weren't pretty lol.

What is your level of patience on not advancing to the Super Bowl?
BuffaloBillyG replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
Completed 69% of his passes. Over 4200 yards. 31TDs to 11INTs. Yeah...that's "not very good"🙄 -

Here's the thing about that narrative. It's a crap reason. By every metric Brock Purdy was a top 8 last year. I don't care where he was picked. He's a perfect fit for what they do there. Shannahan also has a much better set of weapons on offense to surround Purdy with to make plays. And if you've watched the 49ers Purdy has made plays. It's almost comical to watch people jump through hoops to explain why Purdy is a nothing at QB. -

And that's a great point. Look at it another way. Shannahan has been denied a Super Bowl now twice by Andy and Mahomes. Both times the 49ers had double digit leads in the game. So, should he be fired? I get it, it's frustrating to lose to the same team year after year in the playoffs. Right now we have the unfortunate luck of being in the same conference as the NFL's best HC/QB duo. Put the Bills in the NFC and I could see them having 2 or 3 SB appearances over the same timeframe. -

Agree. The answers also don't really allow for many details other than a timeline. For instance, this season I really can't be too disappointed with how it ended up considering the injuries to key players. Match that up with KC coming in pretty healthy and it tips the scale a bit in their favor. It sucks to end the season at home and to that team...but at least there is logical reasoning. My answer to the question is simply, you keep the coach in place until a change is needed. Currently, there is one team in the NFL that has made the playoffs in more consecutive season than the Bills. That team is Kansas City. After nearing 2 decades of missing the playoffs, this is an extremely outstanding accomplishment. Also, judging by the reaction of the players that are in the locker room after the Dunne hit piece...his players still believe in him and he has not lost the locker room. That is the ONE thing that could make a move necessary while still making the playoffs. -
Was he though? Ended the year with 132 yards rushing. 62 yards receiving. Of his 132 yards on the ground, 54 came in the Dallas game where they just could not stop the running game. Of his 62 yards in the air, 47 came in one game against the Jets. I do like the way he runs, but I don't think he's more than a practice squad guy with maybe a RB3 ceiling.

I venture a guess that CEH is on their radar. First off he should pretty inexpensive. Second, he worked with Joe Brady at LSU. Third, he's played well against the Bills in the past. Beane has made a habit of signing guys that show out well against us in the past. A couple other RBs to keep an eye on. Familiar faces in Zack Moss and Motor Singletary are expected to be in the FA pool. And we know that Beane likes bringing back people that have played here before. Saying that, I'm not advocating for any of them. Just saying what I could see the team doing.

It's one thing to connect to players in college. Another thing to connect once they come out and have a hit the big time. Players at any major program have the end game of making the NFL. As a guy that played and coached there Harbaugh has that instant cred as someone that can get them there and they will follow that lead. Once they make it, it's a whole new game. Tougher to lead a room full of millionaires than it is to lead a room full of hopeful players. We shall see how it turns out over time, but I really believe it's going to turn out way different than many believe. -

I don't think Harbaugh is a bad coach or anything. It will be interesting to see if his personality and methods are still applicable and impactful in the NFL or if it will be a case of him not being able to recreate what he had in San Francisco. Have to think that "talented roster" is likely to be dismantled fairly quickly as many players there are older, overpaid or both. They lack younger impact players to build around. And they almost always suffer some of the worst injury luck year in and year out. They have almost always had more than enough talent to compete going back to the Dan Fouts/Kellen Winslow/Charlie Joiner days. I really don't care about the National Championship. At all. As a matter of fact, only 3 coaches have won both that and a Super Bowl. Pete Carroll, Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer...and frankly Switzer won with Jimmy's team. I do agree that the Chiefs will have a larger challenge now. That helps the rest of the AFC if the Chargers can even take 1 game a year from the Chiefs. -

Welcome to the off-season hype machine. Last year was the Jets. This year with Harbaugh going to the Chargers it will be them. And that will all be based off the almost certainty from the media that Harbaugh will "fix" Herbert. One thing that's constant in football is that Chargers will find a way to Charger. -
Not at all. Just defining what I meant by "world". Really sounds like you're having some sensitivity issues though. You good, dude?
-
In America it's gun violence. In other countries there are issues as well. Let's not act like any place in the world is a freaking Utopia.
-
That's the thing about the world today. I really wish a shooting like this would take me by shock. But after so many incidents and so many years of it...I've just become numb to it all.
-
Yea, they clearly don't.

Does this team actually have the guts to move on from Tre White?
BuffaloBillyG replied to Jim's topic in The Stadium Wall
Whitehead is a guy I think we should keep an eye on. Beane has a tendency to sign guys that flash against us and he flashed in a big way week 1 last season. Stone is a good one as well and I believe would fit what we do here. -
So Spencer Brown what say you?
BuffaloBillyG replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think he's an average starter and has the possibility of getting better. Stronger in the run game than pass blocking. If he's open to an average starter paycheck...sign him. Long term my issue with him isn't his play, however I would need to see another year or so of being free from back issues to really invest in him. Backs are one of the more tricky injuries for guys of his size. -

I agree safety is loaded in FA, but it appears to be a very top heavy group. Kyle Dugger is my #1 hope in FA, but even he has an expected $16.5M AAV. If he gets that number remains to be seen, but it's very possible the young good safeties out there (including Winfield and Curl) will be out of our price range.
