  1. Not a big surprise. Was expecting this if it came to it. How does this impact the Bills moving forward? IMO it slides a few things around. While Pittman himself wasn't likely in the plans due to cost, it slides another FA WR up the list a bit for teams that did have him (Or Tee Higgins who was also announced as tagged). Thinner pool. It also makes it even more unlikely that Gabe Davis has a colder than expected market and does in fact end up signing elsewhere. And with the (IMO) 2 best young WRs out of the FA market it increases Davis's value on the open market. Bigger contract=Better comp pick. Hopefully, the Buccaneers tag Evans who is likely out of our price range as well to keep Gabe's value moving up.
  2. The way I see it, however is that everyone's draft boards look different. And the deeper it gets in the draft the more variance there will be. So, say there are those 150 "draftable players" out there. I'm sure there there is somewhat of a consensus on who the top 50-75 are. Then you would have teams looking more into specific things. Scheme, positions of need, impressions on any interactions they have had, and even just difference in scouting grades on a team by team basis. So out of that backend 75 players it may involve a pool of 100-150 guys that are draftable to some team but not others.
  3. Well, as I said Thomas is one of the WRs I take in that spot if there. The real big crapshoot on draft night is how the board falls. And of course what needs have already been filled in FA. Basically, it really has little meaning to me if the WR they pick is consensus 12th, 15th or 501st. What matters more is the fit, how they will be used and where the BILLS have them ranked at. Truthfully, from what I'm seeing the 12th ranked WR this year may have easily been in the top 5 of last year's draft. There's value there this year. Not as much value at someplace like DT.
  4. My picks right now (depending on who ends up re-signing right before FA starts with their current team): Darnell Mooney: Young, fast and unlike Harty or Sherfield actually has had some success in the NFL. Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Should be extremely inexpensive. Has experience with Joe Brady and his system. Has played on large stages before in the NFL. Good receiver, decent pass blocking and would take over the Murray/Harris role rather well. Geno Stone: Solid player. Truth be told Kyle Dugger is my top choice here, but even if the Patriots let him hit FA, will likely be too expensive. AJ Epenesa: I'm seeing about $5.5M per year on him for projections. At that price I keep him around and structure it wisely. DJ Chark: Good size and speed. I've wanted him here for a few years now. Think he would thrive with Allen
  5. I'm on team "WR in round 2". That said there are a few WRs I would be good with round 1. BT is one of them.
  6. Exactly. Having Douglas was a key in even making the playoffs IMO. The move gave us a chance. Hate having to pay the price now with the pick, but that's the cost of business sometimes. Fair to point out as well that at the time of the trade Green Bay was playing terrible and it looked like that 5th would have been a much higher pick than it ended up being. Darn Jordan Love not getting that turkey leg on Thanksgiving and going nuclear the rest of the year burned us as well.
  7. We essentially gave up the comp pick that we would have had extra from Edmunds for Douglas. Long term, yes that's a loss. Over the short term and what the team needed for last year it was an acceptable gamble IMO. Going into this season, we really could use that almost $10M in cap space. I like Douglas, think he could have a great year this season but am OK moving on.
  8. They didn't give up much. They gave up a 3rd (turned out to be pick 91) for Douglas and a 5 (ended up as pick 159). That's not nothing, sure...but in the grand scheme of things that's not a whole lot.
  9. I may be in the minority, but I do feel like Elam could do well with extended snaps. Even in limited work he flashed a bit after coming off IR. I don't know if his play will ever reflect his draft status but we will never know that if we don't let him on the field. At this point the kid needs some real NFL week to week experience. It's weird to me though that if Butler and McD had different opinions on Elam that McDermott didn't over rule and play the kid. I thought he was some sort of control freak?
  10. Well, there are a lot of different ways to look at misogyny. I, personally find when people feel they have to mention repeatedly that it "was a woman" that was assaulted it's a form of misogyny as well. Infers that women are weak and unable to handle themselves. And I can tell you these days that's just not true.
  11. Not every broken leg is the same. They don't always result in public lawsuits. I'm sure her leg was broken. I'm sure Hill is a scumbag. But let's not ignore that we live in a society where a SOCIAL MEDIA PERSONALITY is going after a bit of fame as well. All can be true. Also, as a side note I'm curious why this is even a point of emphasis? So if he played for the Vikings or Bears everything's cool? Do we as fans of the Bills not have Von Miller on our roster? Who are we to judge another team?
  12. I mean, she's likely doing this for the cash grab, sure. He's still a scumbag human. Both can be true.
  13. Best part of that is when it says during one of the hits she "held her own"😂😂 Maybe she could be a cheaper option than Gilliam at FB? And yes the obligatory "Hill's a scum human" applies here.
  14. My favorite part: "Hardman said he refused to return punts vs KC because he felt STC Brant Boyer had misled him about the punt-returning job in camp, and that he didn't have enough time to prepare when asked on the night of the KC game to step in for Xavier Gipson, who had tweaked an ankle a few days earlier. Hardman said he was dealing with his own injury (hyperextended pinky) that made it tough to catch. He said Saleh tried to convince him to do it, but Hardman said he told him, "I'm not catching for that man (Boyer)." The Jets are so poorly run.
  15. Well, in addition to him growing up around there, being a Steeler fans growing up, attending Pitt he's also got a lot of friends on the team and a very tight relationship with Mike Tomlin.
  16. I agree with much of what you say, they only thing I'm skeptical about is the "4th and 25" as an option. With the way officiating has been I would hate to see some ticky tack PI, some no call on an obvious PI or one of those ridiculous "toss it short and force the DPI" plays having a factor. In theory it works. Picking up 4th and 25 is likely the same odds of recovering an inside kick. Just too many ways the "human element" comes into play for my own comfort.
  17. I like the rule and I like the idea that player safety would actually improve. My only concern is that guys in the NFL are much better in tight spaces than guys in the XFL. If a returner can blast by that first wave of tacklers, the only thing between them and an easy TD is the kicker. And while exciting and fun, it may put more kickers on the shelf due to them having to try and make tackles.
  18. IIRC Butler called the plays in one of our preseason games last year. Was possibly an audition of sorts to see what he could bring. Maybe they didn't like what they saw there. So after having that opportunity and then getting passed over for the DC job, I can see how he would feel it's time to move on. I think it's in some was similar to watching Chad Hall leave before after not getting the OC job. That said, of the two I feel like they picked the correct guy in Babich. A bit younger with more room to learn and develop as a coordinator.
  19. King was a fantastic writer. Been reading him since I was a kid. Will miss his writing.
  20. I'll make a bold statement. People will for the most part make excuses to support their current thinking. McDermott wins one; many detractors will say it was luck. He wins two it will be "Josh won in spite of him being the coach". He wins 3 and it'll be some other reasoning. People get way too dug into their opinions.
  21. Now we almost have enough for a beer at the new stadium.
  22. I get the sentiment, but the biggest loss they had to the staff was when Dante Scarnecchia retired.
  23. And the Bills will be linked to every single one. IMO, the main one I'm watching is CEH. He's shouldn't command much and may like to reunite with Joe Brady. Would take over the Murray role. Darrynton Evans is under contract again and could be the PS/3rd RB along with a late round rookie.
  24. Can they extend him so he can afford a dang shirt?
  25. According to this list, NFLPA records show the Bills at at tad under $37M in the red.
