  1. It's not just spending time on the field. It's the complete refocus of what's important in people's mindsets. IMO, it's a direct result of fantasy football mindset. If a guy doesn't show up on the stat sheet, fans view him as worthless. Praise will be heaped on James Cook for his great season (and he deserves it) but will advocate for cutting Reggie Gilliam, who has cleared many paths for him.
  2. That and...with bad weather around the bend we are going to have to use Cook a ton too. It's nice that Ray Davis finally showed a pulse because we need to make sure Cook isn't spent by the WC game or we are toast
  3. Georgia defense? Oh, you mean the 2029 Philadelphia Eagles defense.
  4. Just wondering...why? IMO he's fine doing what he is. He's been an OC before and it didn't go well. To me it would be exactly like the Babich promotion but on the other side of the ball. Babich is a phenomenal coach by all accounts. He's had a lot of success with whatever position group he's been assigned to. He just doesn't have the skill to call a game as a coordinator. Same with Kromer. Some guys aren't meant for the big chair.
  5. I agree with most of your points, especially when it comes to Brady. Also, when you mention the defensive alignment. Where I differ is in the tackling and gap integrity being a coaching issue. Week to week, NFL coaches do not go over fundamentals such as tackling. Gap integrity is talked about, sure. But a lot of that falls on the players. It's like when people want to say the team comes out flat and that's a coaching issue. These are grown men that have played at a very high level their whole life. They don't need or at least shouldn't need some coach to teach them how to tackle, or stay in their gaps or be amped up at game time.
  6. I don't know. Maybe it's just my age showing, but the eye test is still the most important and accurate way to evaluate. And the eye test hasn't been pretty this year. When you start getting all these advanced metrics and the stats within the stats (which almost always eliminate context) they start contradicting themselves.
  7. If this was the Slay of 3-4 years ago that may make some sense. Of course, if he was still that same player he wouldn't be on the waiver wire from Pittsburgh. The guy isn't that player anymore. In fact, he's been such a shell of himself, it would actually make more sense to let him go, sign with Philly and abuse him in a few weeks when we play the Eagles
  8. I think this is a game where AJE actually does well. He can be disruptive.
  9. Because everything has to be a conspiracy these days. Seriously, if Brady can't get the offense in stride against this defense he should be fired, publicly ridiculed and there should be some shapes cut into his yard. Hi. Welcome to the board. Making sense here is highly discouraged. People have old hot takes to stick by. I think what we see on a lot of these guys is they get banged up the week before and play through the game. Then, when the adrenaline wears off and few few days go by the full presentation of the injury presents itself. We hear about it when the Bills go back to practice and we see a surprise player got injured. Many times it's assumed that the injury happened in practice...but I'd bet more than not it's just that the first practice of the week is when the first injury report is due
  10. Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods, and Ronald Darby are sitting by the phone.
  11. Maybe they are picturing a 3 safety look with Poyer in the box more. IIRC, they ran that look a few years ago and it helped the run defense.
  12. Just wait. Beane is soooo gonna make Fetch happen.
  13. He's already at Slay's house laughing.
  14. Joe B repeated many times that the Jackson pick was always more about 2026 than it was this year. I do believe he's correct, as Beane has many times picked for needs that are projected 2 years in advance. On the one hand, I agree that pick could have been used wiser to help this year. There is no argument there. What I would offer is that with both Bosa and AJE scheduled to be free agents, it wasn't the worst plan. Honestly, had he stayed healthy and had a couple nice plays to help us this year as well...that would have been terrific.
  15. On the one hand, it's not really applicable because those teams are not this team. Different teams, different years. On the other hand, the Bills have often gotten smacked on defense on the first couple drives before they make adjustments. A fast start by Cincinnati wouldn't shock me. As long as we can keep up out of the gate we should be ok.
