  1. I'm going to go out on a limb here. I think if you showed these stats to Beane he would say "Yup, I'm well aware" and still sign him. The thing is, Beane and McDermott are a lot of things. Thorough happens to be one of them. I predict that they both knew those numbers and are willing to absorb some of the bad for some of the good. They needed a jolt to the offense. They needed a jolt to the return game. He can provide both. And he did in the first time he touched the ball as a Buffalo Bill. I think they are willing to take the bad plays in stride if he can provide a bit of needed juice. The guy had 3 days of practice and hasn't touched a ball in a live game since preseason. I think the likelihood that he wouldn't have his best game right off the bat was high.
  2. Let's see what his practice participation is this week. I don't expect him active Thursday. He was ruled out fairly quick. I think he survives. They gave Codrington a LOT of chances before cutting bait. And he offered nothing as a CB. Hardman at least may offer something on offense. My prediction is he's inactive due to the calf this week, and yes I think it's a legitimate injury, and then he has 10 days to heal up, get more practice time in and be active the following game.
  3. Absolutely. And getting gashed by the run, in no world should Bosa be the leading DE in snap percentage.
  4. Bishop is the future of the room. Rapp, Poyer and Hamlin should be wishes well on their future endeavors. Hancock shows some promise. Lewis is a valuable piece, and would like to see him play more NCB going forward.
  5. Some notable things. WR snap counts almost even (except Hardman). White slightly out snapped Hairston.
  6. It's got the same feel for me as the people yelling for Brady's head because he's "too cute" with the play calling, but pine for Daboll to be back.
  7. Honestly, I dislike the idea. As we see this year, if any of these guys are on the roster, they are one play away from seeing significant snaps. I'd even throw Jordan Phillips on the list. I think having a guy or two like that could be a benefit, but if you're filling the bench with guys that have no business on the field anymore and injury bug hits .. you're in deep trouble.
  8. Mills has won the last 2 games for the Texans. He's not incapable. Gonna be a challenge either way IMO.
  9. I look at it as he has the potential to have Hyde's instincts matched with Jarius Byrd's ball hawk abilities. He's a very exciting player to watch. I believe he and Max will really shore up that secondary for years to come.. especially if Benford remembers how to play football.
  10. A couple of seasons ago, the Bills let some vets walk on defense. It was time. They said goodbye to Poyer, White (who are both oddly back) and Hyde. This off season I feel it's time to do the same. It's time to shed some longtime guys who just aren't what they used to be. Obviously, Milano, Tre White and Poyer need to be upgraded. But, they need to take a serious look at Taron Johnson, Rapp and even the newcomer in Joey Bosa as guys that probably shouldn't return. It's really telling that once Rapp went out our secondary seems to have pulled it together, and is always stronger when White is on the side watching Mad Max play. It really speaks volumes that when Taron is out, the slot is covered just fine. No drop off at all. Games Milano have missed have actually had better LBer play. For as many assets that they have sunk in, the best thing they could do is to cut the dead wood off, let the young guys get experience and reboot that defense this off season
  11. It's been a confusing season. I think if before the season I was told we would be at 7-3, I would have taken that. And been quite happy. But the reality of the situation hits much different. When you combine: - The Patriots record and them beating us head to head at our house -Getting run out of Atlanta by a team that hasn't won a game since -Getting trounced by Miami -The fact that Burrow got hurt, Cincinnati has struggled -Lamar and almost the entire Raven defense was hurt, they struggled -Kansas City is not the same It just feels like a HUGE missed opportunity this season. Losing 2 very winnable games to Atlanta and Miami really suck. Could and probably should be 9-1 right now. The path to the #1 seed was right there for us...and it's now way tougher to get there. So even at 7-3, it still feels like disappointment.
  12. In a black and white world, you would be correct. In a world with nuance, that's not always the case. Just because Mike Tomlin views Rodgers as an unquestioned starter doesn't make him right.
  13. Yeah, I agree. I'm big on going with what's working, and yesterday without Keon it was working well. The only caveat I have is that if Kincaid is still out, which I expect, AND Shakir had any kind of setback, I would have him active to work in the slot with Palmer and Gabe outside.
  14. I really think it had a lot to do with the short turnaround to a Thursday game. Not sure they thought he way physically ready to play 2 games in 5 days. I fully expect him back on Thursday.
