A Few Thoughs about the Broncos Game
BeginnersMind replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
TT does not throw INTs. It's one of his strengths. At the same time, he occasionally delivers the "throw" to Jones when he was open by 20 yards. I, like many, would like to see a better QB. But TT is the best one on this team and he gives it his all, which I love. -
What about McDermott on Game Day?
BeginnersMind replied to cage's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The best thing I see is that EVERY player is playing well, which means the coaching is 100x better. In the last few years, the talented players were winning games, and the scrubs were deeply exposed. You don't see this as much with this team. McDermott is a guy whose process I can trust. They might still be a 7 win team, but it looks like a 7 win team with the right coach to build something special. I expect a tough week vs Atlanta. The Falcons are the best team in the NFL. -

2-5 have been absent for a looooong time. And 1, while not perfect, has not been awful. He can fix that. -

Totally. If he's the FB and gets a couple carries here and there, no problem. But there are better RB options out there, I have no doubt. -
Gameday Thread Bills vs Broncos 1st Half
BeginnersMind replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He started to run. The fair catch was awfully dumb. -
Good catch but what a throw. Hit him in stride, ball tight to chest. Just dropped it on the wrong shoulder. Sammy's lunging TD was a better play by him. Impressive effort to get that one.

Hi, I am not sure why you decided to started capitalizing FALSELY and attacking me as if I attacked Watkins. He made a good catch. But if Tyrod throws that same ball last Sunday, the Bills win (absent a Music City Miracle scenario). Goff's throw was on the wrong shoulder but hit Sammy in stride, over the two defenders, without forcing Watkins to extend his hands or leap over the DBs. That was not perhaps the total pinpoint throw that would win Goff the big stuffed animal at the carnival, but it was pretty solid. I didn't discredit Watkins making a good catch. I just was noting that I wish we had a QB capable of that throw.

I was looking at a really good throw.

A Few Thoughts About the Panthers Game
BeginnersMind replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wanted the timeout but as it was, they Bills would have needed the last one if Jones hauls in that catch or if a receiver catches the ball in bounds, to give them more chances at the end zone. It was not clearly the wrong call. -
A Few Thoughts About the Panthers Game

I'm not a believer that Woods is anything more than a solid number 3 WR but he was pretty good at hauling in TT's errant throws. Too early and too few chances to judge Jones. -
I like a little hyperbole. It was a bad trade and it set the franchise back (maybe). You assume the Bills would have drafted a good player with that 2015 pick.

TT is good at the play action pass but when the run can't get going and the passer can't pass, what's the difference?

A Few Thoughts About the Panthers Game
BeginnersMind replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm alarmed at the offense's regression in a year. Same line, RB, and QB. The WRs are not as good but is Dennison putting the O in a position to make plays? Carolina was stacking 8 in the box and the offense had no ability to get 7 yard in routes or anything on the sideline in the passing game. Tyrod's strength is not a 3 step drop and throw. I understand that's not his style but it needs to happen. Shady said he was to blame yesterday but I can't imagine how. He had nowhere to run. No matter where he picked to run, there were more Panthers coming towards him than Bills to block. A better throw and it's an easy TD. I don't have a bead on Jones enough to know if that's a catch he'll usually make, but yesterday he didn't make the tough catch. You know who makes that catch? Robert Woods. -
Not Stevie Johnson bad but not good. I never thought of Goodwin having bad hands though. He seemed to have pretty good hands here. Just a drop.

Agreed with this to an extent. One sack only, but both INTs were from pressure. This. Despite the Bills' inability to pull away, they were never really threatened. Next week is a better yardstick. On the road against a better team. Not a world beater but a pretty good one. Watched their game today: McCaffrey gets the ball ALL THE TIME in that offense.
-
He's good. The guy I see becoming a fan favorite is Tolbert. That guy is fun to watch when he gets a head of steam. The way he left the field, Gaines looked dislocated. Hope it's not serious. The biggest change was that there didn't seem to be confusion. And though there were penalties, none were conduct/judgment penalties that were the signature of the Ryan era. And none of the 3rd and drive extending variety that were also so common over the last few years. This team is not playoff caliber but it's interesting to see McDermott's style.

That was never going to happen after the last 3 years of injuries. I don't blame them at all for not exercising the option. Maybe Sammy turns into the Larry Fitzgerald we all hoped for and the Bills look stupid, but if I was the GM, I never pick up that option. I wouldn't look back on that decision based on the evidence I'd seen. BTW, I like Sammy a lot. He's a good guy and a stud WR. But his risk/reward made the trade sensible.

What's wrong with the Pats Defense? Plenty
BeginnersMind replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Expressing any confidence in the demise of the Patriots is like celebrating a warm Buffalo day in March. Fleeting. -
The Bills are highly unlikely to make the playoffs even if Sammy had a huge year. Sammy was unlikely to return to Buffalo (with a new QB probably on the horizon in 2018, and given his strainged relationship with the organization). I believe Sammy has top talent but the Bills got something, when after this season, they may get nothing. I support the move and only time will tell if it was the right one.

Exactly. The last 17 years support Michaels's point. We get to be made once the Bills prove him wrong. As an out-of-WNY person, my Bills fandom gets met with good-natured laughter and sympathy everywhere. It's OK but mostly sad. The WNY crowd can be a bit prickly. Our tribalism is our strength, but sometimes a weakness too.
