Nate Peterman's performance against the Chargers
BeginnersMind replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LA is more like a neutral stadium. Better that he got his first start there than this week or the following vs Pats. I'm not ready to condemn him either but we likely now know that we don't have next year's starting QB on the roster. Peterman maybe can evolve into a backup next year but he's got to earn that. -
Because they had a talented roster and are underachieving? McD and Beane have come in here and done what we all thought they would do before the season. Tearing the house down to nothing. The problem is that we (including me) were drinking the +15 turnover margin and thought they might be ready now by some miracle. Turns out their process, and what we all believed back in pre-season, is true. They are a bad team and the rebuild will take time. It sucks because we're all impatient after 18 years but another turn of the coaching regime change is NOT the way to success (at least not for a couple years). On that, I am positive. This will get worse before it gets better. 2020 is the year I expect playoffs. Next year will be a year of young guys struggling to acclimate. 2019 will be more young guys coming in and better vets leaving. By 2020, this group will hopefully establish a culture. Tyrod is not the QB of 2020. Peterman probably isn't either. They are finding out who, if anyone, gives a crap.

Andrew Brandt Article about The Process with Eagles
BeginnersMind replied to BigBuff423's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You thought this team would be anything other than in tank mode this year? With a new secondary, aging line, no LBs worth a spit, and this offense? Come on: maybe 8 guys on this team would start on any other NFL roster. I got sucked in too. This is not a one year rebuild. This is a 3-4 year one. It is going to suck before it gets any better. -

"The process" would have gone a lot smoother if they had gone 2-5 in the first 7 games. Then these last two losses would not have been surprising. -

The Bills are the perfect antidote to the Chiefs' losing streak. -

I have no problem with "the process." I went into the season expecting 5-11. Like most here, I got sucked into the 5-2 optimism vortex. I am also a Sixers fan and just so everyone knows, "the process" took a lot longer with the Sixers than even Hinkie thought. First you tear it down. That takes a couple years. Then you add talent. That takes a while. Then, and this is the hard part that the now-talented Sixers are figuring out now: You have to find out how to win. This year's Sixers are massively talented and maybe as talented as anyone but they are young and blow leads. They are young and have massive comebacks. They beat great teams. Lose to crap teams. It's aggravating but while "the process" of tanking to get players and clear empty contracts is over, "the process" of winning takes time too. I look forward to the 2019 and 2020 seasons. Sorry to Kyle Williams, Shady, Eric Woods, Richie, and other solid vets who will not probably be around for that. I hope the fan base is patient. No more Rex Ryan bluster and bravado band-aids. -

It reflects more of a "who gives a hoot at this point" than any vote of confidence in Tyrod. If they had a 3rd option, I'd vote for him. Logan Thomas? Whoever starts in KC is in for a looooooooooooooong day. #1 was totally not his fault. #2 was bad pocket awareness (the rush was in his face) but agreed not entirely his fault. The next two were entirely on him, and the worst part was the out route was thrown so weakly and short that the DB had all day to make the INT. You can't make excuses. Bad QBs don't have 5 INT days. He was a total debacle and I don't want to see him again for years, if ever. He looked like a 5th round pick who will be out of the NFL in a year. -
A few thoughts about the Chargers game
BeginnersMind replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The toughest part is seeing them give up. I was watching yesterday hoping nothing would go wrong because I now feel like they will quit the moment there's any adversity. As someone else said, at least the Browns are keeping games close-ish. This team bails the moment anything goes wrong. (Yes, they got the Shady TD but that was more about two big plays than any sustained effort.) They are currently playing about as well as I expected them to play. The problem with the early wins is that were likely flukes (many statistics point to this), and now the team doesn't believe in the coaches, in spite of the fact that they aren't that good. My new concern is whether McD can get the team back on a building track for the 2019 season, which is realistically what everyone expected going into this season: Meaning will the team believe in McD during the 2018 training camp? My other concern is this: Given how horribly they've played, what FA will want to come here? 6-10 and building for the future makes Buffalo more attractive than rudderless and a total mess. -
Are we able to get anything for Tyrod?
BeginnersMind replied to The Tomcat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with this. Tyrod can keep a ship that is moving well afloat. He's a proven reliable commodity and some team will definitely sign him. Like Fitz when he left, I'll always be a fan. Big heart. Good team leader. Good guy. -
Agree completely especially about his JEts performance. That wasn't on him. One thing you can always say about TT: He plays HARD. We should all appreciate that. His decision making is not great but he gave his all. I will miss the effort--I won't miss the 4 yard pass to Tolbert on 3rd and 14. I am not sure about Vic's take. I believe McD wants the playoffs now and he thinks Peterman can get them there, or at leaast they will find out what they have in him. Even if he plays decent through the balance of the season, I expect a QB competition next year. He's have to play lights out to lock up the job, and I don't expect that. TT is surely gone.

I enjoy WGR when I tune in but I turn those two off. I understand why people listen--because they are provocateurs—but they add nothing, build nothing. Their show is Kardashian football talk.

Just commenting on the site design, popups, colors. It's painful. This is how you design a Gill/BBQ website. http://realBBQ.com

The playoffs - actually within reach
BeginnersMind replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Saints have a very good offense with very good RBs who have helped Brees out tremendously. This isn't the 2011 Saints offense this year. They are a running team. That's no defense of 298 (!) yards rushing but let's not demean them. -

Fantastic. Get him signed up here. The bandwagon was full 3 weeks ago but now there's plenty of room. -
That website is a punch in the balls.

I'd want Tom Brady, but I'd take Andy Dalton right now. He'd be better than any QB since Kelly. Tallest Lilliputian and all that but still the truth.

Amazon announces Lord of the Rings series

While he overdid the Hobbit, there’s no arguing that the LOTR is one of the best, if not the best, fantasy movies/trilogies ever. -
Jesus help me. The GM gets more than 9 games. Here’s a team most here thought might win 4 games. They shocked us all with the start but are coming back to earth. There is a a ton of work to do here with this team and it will take a while. Simmer down.

Give me an arm and a guy who can read a defense. QBs are hard to pick. -

"Hi, want to go to dinner on Friday?" vs. "Hi, do you mind if I masturbate while you watch?" Do see those as the same? I don't. Most don't. But maybe you have different sexual standards. -

BeginnersMind replied to Punt75's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have no problem if they start Peterman at this point. Can it be worse? Absolutely. But Taylor is not the answer so why not confirm that Peterman isn’t either. Head into the off season with eyes wide open in QB search. -

Offensive line was not terrible yesterday. This was not like Jets game at all. I’ve been a Tyrod defender but he’s earning his way off the field. Sadly I doubt Peterman is the answer. -
There was an odd sideline moment at 30-3. Peterman in helmet throwing to Tyrod in hat. Then right as possession changes, Peterman removes his helmet and Tyrod grabbed his. This was shortly after after the Tyrod late hit where he stayed down. Something was up but it disappeared.

Every Dareus hater, APOLOGIZE
BeginnersMind replied to CanadianFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All this. I got sucked in too. But they are who we thought they were. The wins were mostly bad teams and the scores were close. Bills are a few points away from a 2 win team. -
From what I saw, the o lineman were regularly on the LBs after the Dline did diddly dick. Not freeing Brown from blame but when the offensive line is running free 3 plus yards past the line, the linebackers don’t have much hope.
