We like your son but he probably isn’t the answer for this team. If he earns thre backup spot next year, that’s great. Otherwise, I guess he’s gone like most 5th round QBs.

A Few Thoughts About the Jags Game
BeginnersMind replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills should bring in two QBs, a vet and a project. No need to keep PEterman and of course TT is gone. Tyrod is a good guy, perfect backup QB but he shouldn't be back. Get a serious MLB. Get a pass rusher and a run stuffer. The above are easy to get and will immediately make the team better. Add in a few pieces like backup RB, a good #2 WR, right side of the line improvement and this team will be better next year. Today's game felt like house money. Part of me feels OK that I'm spared watching them lose by 30 to Brady. Offense was bad. Bortles runs were. frustrating as $#@. -
Jim Kelly and Tyrod Taylor
BeginnersMind replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just did compare them so of course you can. I just found the stat interesting. I feel the same as you, that Kelly had to be way better passing. But shockingly, the yards and INTs don't back it up. Nor do the INTs. KElly is a HOF QB. TT won't be. But still surprising. -
Jim Kelly and Tyrod Taylor

Their stats are almost indistinguishable from one another except for Kelly's INTs and TT's rushes. And the wins. I was surprised too. Different eras and all that but still surprising. -
Fact: TT has led us to Jacksonville tomorrow
BeginnersMind replied to Foreigner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tyrod has better numbers than Kelly most sesons. Different era for sure but I was surprised to see it. I don't see TT as the future but I have always liked him. Plays hard with a huge heart. Go to it today! -
ESPN predicts Alex Smith as starting Bills QB in 2018.

I have long held that Reid is one of, if not the, best offensive game preparation coaches in the NFL. His teams often come prepared to play and execute a great offensive game plan. But he blows if the plan goes off track and he REALLY blows in clutch coach decisions. HE was like that in Philly and same in KC. -
Best basketball player of all time
BeginnersMind replied to Buffalo716's topic in Off the Wall Archives
The word that captures Jordan for me is "clutch." Every shot clock wind down, end of quarter, and end of game, EVERYONE knew he was shooting, and it seemed like he made an incredible number of those shots no matter how many defenders. Jordan was also first team defense almost every year. He was a nightmare on D. On desire to win, no one compares with Jordan. He was and is still kind of insane about it. His HOF speech is one of the worst of all time because he can't let go. Jordan made me happiest to watch because of his pure grace as an athlete, competitiveness, and this clutch thing. I never thought the other team would win a game that mattered. Never. HE was Brady-like in that way. Lebron will score more. Magic and Bird were better all around players. Wilt dominated the league in a way that won't happen again. But Jordan gets my vote. If he was playing any of these guys in a game, my money would be on his team to win. -
Checking in with the Jags message board
BeginnersMind replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Saints are totally different team. They have a HOF QB that the defense had to respect. Later the D flat quit in that game. Bills will stack the box and invite Bortles to throw. Game me comes down to Bills run D and Tyrod. If they stop the run and TT plays well, they will be OK. -
Buffalo only ranked 24th in League Attendance
BeginnersMind replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's clear actual attendance is down. Lots of seats empty at most games. Obviously that would improve with the team improvement but I agree with the original OP: The Bills fans don't show like they used to. At the NO game, the stadium felt like it was 20% Saints fans. Of course, by the middle of the 3rd quarter, it was 100% Saints fans. -
No. Just celebrate that he’s doing something, teaching massively underprivilged kids, get an education. That’s great and makes me happy. Lots of other issues to talk about but the person in the class teaching the kids every day matters more to the kids than any administrator, union member, politician, or TBD poster.

Link? How is this in any way a credible post? Dunkirk Don has Bob Woodward credibility compared to this thread. -
Missed Tackles, Jerry Hughes, Preston’s Overturned TD....
BeginnersMind replied to Bakin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ah--that makes sense. He's not down, but he's still got a fingertip on the fumbled ball. That's why it's out. So close but looks right. In real time, I thought for sure it was out. -
I wouldn't hate if they took him in the 3rd but I don't see any reason to go higher than that. All that emotion is great when your teammates are (kind of) unpaid kids but I prefer a calmer presence at QB in the NFL. And a 5-10 QB would need exceptional mobility to succeed in the NFL. Mayfield doesn't have that.

Thanks for the vid. Landry isn't out until after the ball hits the ground. If you believe the ball was moving before he hit the ground, as the refs said they did, it was a terrible overturn and not really even close. Again. This is the photo right before Tre White goes out. The Ball has already hit the ground at this point and no part of Landry except his ball-carrying hand has touched the grass. EDIT--see below. Got it. He's got a fingertip on the ball when his hip touches down. It was the right call. Makes me feel better. -

Mayfield is a great college QB. Can't see him in the NFL at his height. He'd need Russell Wilson like movement to be effective. I have no problem if he's there in the 3rd as a flyer.

Agree totally. In no way am I defending Tolbert. As well as the Bills have done getting the most out of players this season, any time Tolbert is in the game is a waste of a roster spot. Maybe the holes aren’t there and only a speedier shiftier guy can make something happen. Whatever the case, Tolbert doesn’t make much happen with his touches.

[Vague Title]Take this for what it's worth.
BeginnersMind replied to njbuff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They haven't had a stellar LB group or OL in a long, long time. A few years with very good DL and WRs. This team has a lot of holes. Trading away anything more than the two firsts to move up and get a guy they bet is the franchise QB this year makes no sense. In order, the Bills need to fill the following this season to take a big step ahead: QB ILB (draft) RT (draft) DL (draft) OLB (draft/FA) RG (draft/FA) Of those, given where they pick and FAs, they can probably address everything but long term QB in one off-season. Picking in the 20s, the Bills should be able to grab an instant starter at LB and DL, and in the second, a starter at RT. QB will end up being someone like Bradford or Smith. This assumes they can fill depth at backup RB and keep some combo of the WRs together. I don't see the Bills finding the franchise QB this off-season. There's a reason there are so few franchise QBs--they are hard to come by. -
There are a lot of Jonathan Williams's and Mike Gillislee's in the world. I wasn't missing either one of them once we had Cadet carrying the ball. Serviceable backup RBs are not hard to come by. It's the studs that are a bit harder to find. But unlike QB, the drop from starting RB to backup RB is not that severe.
