“I’m not Trump” is not building a better country. It’s divisive argument. His initial ad was not wrong in calling out Trump’s clumsy (giving him some benefit) response to Charlottesville but it shows TDS, not leadership.

People stayed home in 2016 because the coronation was a foregone conclusion. People here dedicated pages to the conspiracy to anoint her. Trump’s ability to generate interest may work against him (or for him) in 2020. But I expect a significant uptick in total turnout. A PA flip would turn it all on its head. The Ds can’t afford to lose it again and the Rs must keep it. If it flips, it portends a problem for Trump.

He will not survive the primary. And if he can’t look human consistently, he won’t even last to Super Tuesday.

Mentioned elsewhere but my wife does hospice work for the last 20 years (I’m riding her coattails to heaven). Pain management is often the patient’s biggest relief on arrival to hospice or with her team. That helps them get their humanity back in spirit and helps them work on physical therapy for whatever else may be limiting them.

It’s not political. It’s mostly just ignorance. Not willful FU type ignorance but just people being ill informed. Many people think hospice is where you go to get your death pills. Others think it’s some leper-like ward for the near dead. It’s just a place filled with experts in end of life care. Most people and families find huge comfort once they opt for it.

Good book and its significance has been to raise more end of life dialog. Doctors are in a tough position. It's hard when your identity is tied to "keeping people alive" to shift over to "advise hospice" to improve quality, but not necessary quantity, of life.

Some interesting discussion that is worthwhile to pull out of the Pancho thread and move to here. KD made a good point that our end of life care sucks, whether by law (our laws limit certain end of care options) or by ignorance (most people don't understand hospice), or by fear (many are afraid to die and fight to the bitter painful end), or because medical professionals suck at end of life care (many do). We suck at the process of dying, yet we all see it through. Hospice care is growing in the US, which is great, but it's still not well understood or used. It seems to be a forgotten piece of any health care debate.

LA's post was about the left being unhinged and that's what I reacted to. I have never advocated for open borders or that there is not a problem on the border. It's not asking too much, sorry. My final paragraph was annoyed and not necessary.

I am sorry that you had to see them have bad experiences. I sleep next to someone who helps 15-20 people a week enter and get the best treatment during their stay from the least to most expensive hospices. It should not be a bad experience but sometimes you need a good advocate. If you or anyone here ever needs advice on hospice, send me a PM, and I volunteer an expert. She thinks we are all crazy for liking the Bills like we do, but she understands our mental disease. Most hospices are incredible and a much better way to receive end of life care than anything you will get in a hospital or on your own.

Can you, 3rdnlng, link where I said that the border is not a problem? The "non-crisis" I was referring to was the freak-out TDS of the Trump haters. Trump being president is NOT a crisis. When you suit up in your Trump uniform every day, try to understand that not everyone sees the world in black and white. I like some things about Trump. I dislike some things about Trump. The border is important, the wall is not a big deal to spend money on, and we have 10 other things to worry about that are more important. The social security running out of money stories this week got...zero point zero...attention.

Maybe sit this particular issue out.
