Free agency has clinched it. Buffalo is ready to win now. Beane may have claimed he was going to be judicious, and in many ways he has with some of his signings, but just the sheer number of decent quality guys says the Bills are going after the playoffs in the 2019 season and maybe the AFC East crown. It should be a fun season guys and gals.

G Jon Feliciano (Raiders) to the Bills
TigerJ replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oops. I posted that link on another message board for an entirely different subject. I thought I'd copied the NFL.com link, but I guess I didn't The Finland link was still in my clipboard. LOL Here's the right link: http://www.nfl.com/draft/2015/profiles/jon-feliciano?id=2552343 The good news is it sounds like he's played better as a pro than his college scouting report suggested he would. I still think he's probably more competition than a clear upgrade, but competition is good in any case. -
G Jon Feliciano (Raiders) to the Bills

Scouting report when he came out of college wasn't real promising, but he could have developed some. He was rated then as a priority free agent. He needed work on hand usage, and he was described with the dreaded adjective "pear shaped." In his favor, his pass blocking was pretty good in college, allowing a total of four sacks over 3 years. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-finland-government/finlands-cabinet-quits-over-failure-to-deliver-healthcare-reform-idUSKCN1QP0R6 At this point, I would call him competition rather than an upgrade until we know more. -
Brandon Beane is on the record as downplaying the need for a clear cut #1 WR in the modern NFL. Robert Foster could still emerge.
-
Beane is careful about who gets the long term deals. Gore didn't. Morse did. Gore is at high risk for not being able to play out a long term deal at a high level, Morse carries a low risk of that. I think Ty Nsekhe is 33. He got a two year deal.

Pass on Metcalf and give me this WR!
TigerJ replied to cttnweary's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. I think there is almost no chance he is drafted before Buffalo picks in round 2. I'd be OK with Ridley, but I don't think he's anything special. He's a good route runner and gains some separation that way. I think with the signing of John Brown and Cole Beasley along with the earlier addition of Duke Williams, there is no sense on the Bills of having to add an early draft pick at WR. I think it is most likely that if the Bills draft a WR, it will be on day three. -
Buffalo has options. Since thy already have two upgrades on the O-line (three if you count Spencer Long), they would probably be OK if they did nothing more. Teller may be improved in his second year, and they could start him across from Long, who could play right guard. The line still should be much better than last season. As has been mentioned, Buffalo can add a guard in the draft. They could draft Jonah Williams and move him inside. They could draft Chris Lindstrom. They could draft Eric McCoy and play him at guard. There is literally nothing they could do that would be a disaster, including doing nothing more.

OT Ty Nsekhe (Redskins) to the Bills
TigerJ replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. When the Bills are on the clock at #9, they can trade down or draft whatever position they think gives them the best value: offensive tackle, tight end, wide receiver, defensive tackle, edge, linebacker-whatever. There's no position where they will have to face the prospect of starting a scrub if they don't draft a guy high. If they draft an offensive tackle, and he beats out Nsekhe or Dawkins, so be it. -
OT Ty Nsekhe (Redskins) to the Bills
TigerJ replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would assume so. It's a two year deal and Nsekhe is 33 years old, so the Bills are not treating him like a long term answer. I think they will still draft a tackle. Depending on how highly they draft him, he could compete with Nsekhe to start. Jordan Mills looks to be history, and probably another guy as well. -
Safe to say at Pick #9, we are focused on OL/DL
TigerJ replied to gonzo1105's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You have five guys listed as realistic Bills picks at #9. If Buffalo drops to say the middle of round one in a trade with Washington, odds are still excellent that one or more on that list of five will still be on the board. One name you don't have on your trade down list is Jeffery Simmons. I'm not ruling him out in that I don't think that the incident for which he earned notoriety 3+ years ago, before he went to college, is reflective of who he is. If the Bills do their due diligence, I think they might agree. -
WR John Brown (Ravens) to the Bills
TigerJ replied to blacklabel's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This should stop any discussion of Buffalo drafting Marquis Brown. At this point they have enough speed, and more than enough small receivers. I wouldn't rule out drafting a receiver, but I expect it would be a big guy, just not early. I think DK Metcalf is probably out of the picture, unless Beane also signs good offensive and defensive tackles. -
Wr signings vote of confidence for Foster and Zay?
TigerJ replied to BruceVilanch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Foster is safe anyway, and probably Zay Jones too, but for Zay I think it means more competition for touches and playing time. In other words, he's going to have to make his reps count, or they could start to dwindle. -
WR Cole Beasley (Dallas) to the Bills
TigerJ replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't like your title. At a time when everybody is looking for free agency news, your title does not qualify the subject as a discussion on opinions. Additional posts I hadn't had a chance to see confirms it actually happened. In that case, a link, or at least an indication that it had happened would have been nice. -
WR John Brown (Ravens) to the Bills
TigerJ replied to blacklabel's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm OK as long as it's not the John Brown whose body lies mouldering in the grave. That would stink. -
The stupidity of Free Agency summed up in one deal.
TigerJ replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would qualify Nix's remark. Everyone overpays early in free agency. Later on in free agency some valuable role players can be had for a very reasonable price. You just can't wait to long if you're counting on picking up starters. -
The Colts were rumored to be the destination of Tyrell Williams. With Indy signing Funchess, I assume Williams is still on the market.

C Mitch Morse (Chiefs) to the Bills
TigerJ replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills are not going to sign a top notch guy in free agency for every position of need, but it'll be nice to see them get maybe 2 or 3. One down, baby! Daryl Williams would be sweet now. Then if we need to go fill the rest of the holes in free agency, we can do that! -
TE Tyler Kroft (Bengals) to the Bills
TigerJ replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From the scouting report on Kroft at NFL.com "Tenacious blocker. Handled Michigan State DE Shilique Calhoun as run blocker. Blocks with good base and sustains blocks with strong hands. Not content to stalemate -- wants to win the play as blocker. Able to handle himself in pass protection using adequate footwork and technique." Either NFL.com is full of it, or your source is. -
TE Tyler Kroft (Bengals) to the Bills
TigerJ replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Injuries are a fact of life in the NFL. I hope he can stay healthy. If he can, he's a good and complete tight end. Buffalo still has room to draft one, but it's not going to be Hockenson or Fant. -
RB Frank Gore (Dolphins) to the Bills
TigerJ replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would not have been a signing I would have made. If I remember correctly, he was drafted the year before Buffalo drafted Willis McGahee, both were from Miami. -
CB Kevin Johnson (Texans) to the Bills
TigerJ replied to N.Y. Orangeman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He'll join Antonio Brown on the Bills. LOL This does make a little more sense though. Low risk (except for concussions, young, experienced and good enough to have been a first round pick and can play inside or outside. He checks lots of boxes at low cost, if he can stay healthy. -
Report - Bills interested in Frank Gore, RB
TigerJ replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope not. The Bills need to get younger at the position, not older. -
[Vague Title] The Night's Watch
TigerJ replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As soon as LeBetard's show comes on I turn it off. I never heard his Buffalo comments. I just can't stand him. He comes across as a comedian wannabe, yet he's not the least bit funny.
