  1. Does Chris Hogan have a friend being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame? There must be some reason he's planning to go to Canton.
  2. The only observation with which I have any issue is #4 (bundling low round draft picks to move up. It's not that they won't . I just don't think it's the no brainer you assume it to be. Just because 18 free agents were signed to the team does not necessarily mean all 18 will make the team. Most of them seem to be higher quality that scrub level, but that still doesn't mean they have guaranteed spots. What it does mean is that Beane is not constrained to plug holes through the draft, for the most part at least. He has some flexibility. That flexibility could be manifested in some trades if the right player is sitting at a spot where Beane can make the trade, but may not be there when the Bills would normally be on the clock. Just remember that in theory every draft pick traded away means one more UDFA signed after the draft to fill out the 90 man training camp roster. Except for the rare gem like Foster and Wallace, those are the real scrubs who add little to competition for roster spots. Regarding #8: it's strange that Antonio Brown seemed for such a long time to be a solid team mate and locker room guy, and all of a sudden starts throwing people under the bus. I get Ben Rottenberger, who threw Brown under the bus first, but all JuJu Smith Schuster did was support a teammate. I guess what it shows is that Antonio Brow, despite his football skills is really just an immature kid. He may have been fine as a teammate if he had signed with the Bills, but that's water under the bridge. I'm not going to fret about it.
  3. I want my starting WRs to be named Jack B. Nimble and Mike B. Quick.
  4. I seriously doubt that Buffalo has much interest in trading up for Dexter Lawrence. He's a freak athlete to be sure, but Buffalo's defensive tackle need is definitely shaded toward 3 tech. Despite Lawrence's 40 time, he's more natural at 1 or 0 tech. I also doubt that Bosa or Josh Allen are going to drop to a trade accessible range for Buffalo. Quinnen Williams might possible drop enough for a trade up if Buffalo wants him badly enough. Given the OP's four suggested possibilities, I'd be most tempted by Sweat and Simmons. I think Sweat and Tillery is also a possibility. Obviously, If Buffalo trades up from #9, they won't be trading up again to get in the bottom of round 1. Last year was unique in my opinion.
  5. He is a genuinely nice guy, and oozing with talent. I'm hoping it's just a matter of time before he puts it all together. He made huge strides over the course of last season.
  6. Keep fighting, Home. I have heard that persons dealing with schizophrenia have a strong urge to stop taking medication once symptoms are under control. Medication is absolutely necessary to keep symptoms under control. STICK WITH THE PLAN ! It's going to make the Bills great and help you get your life back on track and keep it that way. The off season has been pretty eventful with cap money to spend.
  7. Q Williams is the one player the Bills would consider moving up to draft. Not sure how high they'd be willing to go. Maybe 5?
  8. I don't think Lawrence will be the Bills' even though he'll still be on the board at #9. Simms says he has the athleticism to play anywhere on the D-line, but he's going to earn his NFL paycheck tying up blockers on the nose. That's not what Buffalo's looking for.
  9. There are plenty of people who think Gary is a top ten pick. He is kind of a roll the dice pick in the top ten though.
  10. I almost feel for Rosen. I think he probably has the talent to succeed in the NFL, but it's not going to happen in Arizona. He may be only a West Coast QB, and there is no way Arizona is going to run a West Coast offense with Kliff Kingsbury as its head coach. If the market is soft and Arizona doesn't get a trade offer that includes at least a second round pick and maybe a bit more, I could see them opting to keep Rosen as a backup when they draft Murray to start. The first four years of his NFL career could end up being pretty much a total waste. He may find himself in free agency after four years and the market is still soft because he will have been in the league four years and done nothing.
  11. I'm not too worried about it. Things will shake out and what happens happens whether Bills fans worry about it or not.
  12. They may think he stands a good chance of winning a competition to start at guard.
  13. He's more athletic than Yarbrough for sure.
  14. This is probably best case scenario. Worst case is camp fodder.
  15. Three words: Three cone drill. As a wide receiver with size and deep speed, Metcalf can get away with not having the shiftiest feet in the world. He can be effective on deep routes by running away from slower CBs, and with his size and strength he can outfight DBs on contested balls. But it is even more important for CBs to have superior change of direction skills and quickness than for WRs. A shifty WR will leave DK Metcalf in the dust.
  16. Obviously, some in the pool (3-5) will be gone if Buffalo trades down. From Beane's perspective, his choice depends on his valuation of the players available at 9 versus those he might be picking from in the 12 to 14 range. Opinions vary on Oliver somewhat, but many think he is a real blue chip prospect, and he may drop to nine, but probably not to the 12-14 range.. Is Beane looking more at Metcalf's freakish athleticism (he also seems to be a humble kid with a great attitude) or his injury, rawness, and limited production? In the end, the challenge of being a GM is to be able to look at what is, and not what you want it to be, and make the best decision you can given the reality of circumstances. I don't think Beane wastes too much time lamenting the choices he has available.
  17. You're the GM. You picked Kliff Kingsbury to be your head coach. You have inherited a QB that everybody thinks is the quintessential QB for a West Coast offense. Kliff Kingsbury probably can't tell the difference between the West Coast offense and the Wing T. (Just kidding there folks) All things being equal, you stick with Rosen who has some obvious ability and a year of experience. Unfortunately, things are not equal in Arizona. Unless everybody in the organization is somehow convinced that Rosen can be effective running a read option spread, or whatever you want to call Kingsbury's offense of choice, you pretty much have to plan on changing out your QB for one who fits your offense (Kyler Murray).
  18. Hard worker, but his ceiling is not real high. He is what he is. He'll hold down a position if you can't get anyone better.
  19. The moral of the story is, don't take a 280 lb guy, make him play nose tackle and expect him to get to the passer.
  20. They both attended Alabama. Both had/have elite athleticism. Similarities end there. Quinnen may have the strength to play nose, but he's generally seen, I think, as a pretty much a pure 3 tech. Dareus was seen as equally adapted to one or zero tech and three tech. As a 3 tech he was much bigger than Williams, but not nearly as quick. The biggest difference is their intensity. Quinnen has it. Dareus, not so much.
  21. In further news, Jim Brown has decided not to come out of retirement.
  22. Metcalf is in Buffalo for a visit today.
  23. Endurance shouldn't be a huge issue for Oliver if he were a Bills and McDermott follows his normal practice of heavy rotation. Jordan Phillips would probably get 40% or more of the defensive snaps. Besides, this year, the offense is going to be on the field most of the time. LOL
  24. Rodgers probably has the most raw talent of any QB in the NFL, but I think he's probably not the easiest person in the world with which to get along. There are QBs whom I think are worse persons than Rodgers - Ben Rottenberger being among them.
  25. I don't understand why he would be a fan of an edge rusher from Kentucky.
