  1. Yeah, that kind of how I see it. If somebody thinks ye's a fair value for a QB needy team at #5, I guess I can feel pretty good that my Bills got him where they did, and didn't have to settle for Lamar Jackson, who went much later in the actual draft. I feel real good that the receiver Buffalo signed as a UDFA is a first round pick in the redo. Talke about a bargain signing. . .
  2. Are we going to see a thread like this for every possible pick the Bills could make in the first round. I think we've seen threads for most of them already.
  3. All in all, it sounds like it would be a risky pick for the Jets. The risks are injury to a 30 year old receiver, and the possibility that with a young QB and a brand new offensive system to learn, the Jets really won't be able to take advantage of Green's skill set. Meanwhile they're giving up assets who would likely have a longer playing career ahead of them than Green. Do it Jets!
  4. He probably played catch with his brother. Surely, we could find a spot on the roster for him.
  5. Our AFC East teams have many common opponents. NE has the easiest rated schedule because they play against the other three AFC East teams and Buffalo, Jets, and Miami all play two games against NE.
  6. One thing I notice is that of the opposing head coaches of Buffalo's first three opponents, two are in their first year coaching their new teams and one is in his second year. That's kind of a good news bad news scenario. The good news is the Jets and Bengals are still going to be learning their offensive and defensive schemes. The bad news is Buffalo's coordinators won't have a lot of game tape to analyze for their game planning. Pat Shurmer is in only his second year with the Giants, and his debut last season was pretty bad. Unless something happens in the draft or there is a late trade, he will be stuck with the same QB (Eli Manning) who has struggled for the last several seasons. Adam Gase is a known commodity for Buffalo. The personnel will be different, but we know the offense he'll run. Gregg Williams, he DC is also a known commodity. We know the kind of defense he'll run. In any case, there won't be much of an excuse if Buffalo comes out and starts their season poorly this fall.
  7. I don't need to see it, but I wouldn't mind if Commissioner Goodell has a front row seat.
  8. Jauron was bad but there were some that were his equal or even worse. Hank Bullough and Kaye Stephenson come to mind. Chan Gailey's main problem was his choice of defensive coordinators.
  9. I think just because of his size, Dexter Lawrence is going to end up as a two gap nose tackle, regardless of his freaky athleticism, so comparing him to QW is like apples to oranges.
  10. The Browns are going to contend for the AFC North title.
  11. Well, Dallas and Detroit always play on Thanksgiving, and they are always the home teams, so their opponents are always going to have to travel. At least Buffalo has a home game the Sunday prior.. The good news is they will get a mini-bye (long week) before they play the Ravens. The Ravens are home versus the 49ers the week prior to their Buffalo tilt.
  12. I haven't seen it anywhere else, but in the WGR article linked to back on page 2 it was reported that a tweet from Manish Mehta mentions the Bills home opener is week 3 versus the Bengals. Oops just saw it on Boco's post.
  13. An early bye is less useful for recovery from nagging injuries, fatigue etc.
  14. Oliver is one of my favorite tight end picks in the draft. I feel like he is a well rounded TE with plenty of athleticism. Hockenson is more polished and played at a higher level of competition, but I think Oliver's upside is comparable.
  15. The discord in Jags land is a bit of a red flag, but there is lot's to like about Yeldon. The Bills have one of the better locker rooms in the league, I think, and might be strong enough to help Yeldon stay on task. If the Bills did sign him, it would certainly raise the level of competition.
  16. The position I don't see addressed in the mock is the one I think is probably the highest priority to fill - 3 tech defensive tackle. While you might plug Rashan Gary there on some obvious passing downs, I think he is a defensive end first and foremost. The lack of a 3 tech DT is probably the biggest weakness of the mock IMO.
  17. That's certainly possible in a scenario where Oliver, Q. Williams, J. Williams and Taylor are all gone in the top 8. I would think in that set of draft circumstances, the choice would probably be between Hockenson, Gary, Burns, Wilkins, Metcalf, Dillard and Sweat. I think one could make a case for any of them, but none is a no brainer. You could also make a good case for a trade down if say Cincinnati wanted to jump ahead of Denver to make certain their QB was still there. You'd still get your choice of players who fit your team and a bonus draft pick to boot.
  18. My understanding of draft value is simply that you want in theory to pick better players higher in the draft and lesser players later in the draft. The reason is obvious. If you don't pick the better players early, other teams will, and you'll be left with mediocrity. I am not anti-Metcalf. He's a rare athlete and has a chance to develop the missing pieces of his skill set to become a really outstanding generational type WR. When I say I think draft values fit Buffalo's needs better at other positions, I'm saying that IMO, Buffalo's greatest need is on the defensive line where at three tech Buffalo has a 6'6" 341 lb tackle who is really a tweener (3 tech and nose) and is not consistently disruptive, and at defensive end where Buffalo has a 31 year old and two other guys whose presence on the Bills is uncertain past the 2019 season (Trent Murphy because of lack of production and Shaq Lawson because his production thus far may not justify the fifth year option on his rookie deal. Jerry Hughes is in the last year of his contract too. It just so happens there are a number of top 10 players in the draft at those two positions. It's certainly true that Buffalo could use a receiver who combines elite speed with top end size and strength, but it looks to me as if the defense would be helped more by having Oliver/Sweat/Burns/Gary/Wilkins than the offense will be helped by Metcalf. It's still all just opinion, and you're welcome to have a different one.
  19. Not really. The only one I think the Bills would consider is Metcalf. If the Bills did pick him, I'd be OK, but I think going in to the draft the draft values and Bills needs fit together better at a couple other positions.
  20. There are, I'm sure, a bunch of players who want to get away from football for a time, and don't want the football junkies among them to get a competitive edge.
  21. Why thank you, but if drafted, I will not sign.
  22. I would only have concerns with what people say if I thought Brandon Beane listens to anybody outside the team structure when it comes to making a draft pick. Fans can spout foolishness all they want. LOL
  23. Some posters don't seem to need a reason to jump on somebody. I'd rather they go away than you. Normally, your threads stimulate good conversation. I think it is cool when fans of different teams can have a football conversation while respecting each other.
  24. Williams is the only player for whom I think there is a possibility of a trade up. Bosa and Josh Allen will go way too early because they are elite edge rushers, and edge rushers generate stats. Williams is arguably the best player in the draft, and besides he would replenish our shortage of players named Williams. As they say, you never can have too many players named Williams. I'll be a bit surprised if Williams drops to 5, but it's not impossible. If he does, I guarantee it will generate buzz in the Bills' war room.
