Tuesday OTA: Info from Media Attendance (edit)
TigerJ replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I haven't seen any report of him on the field in drills, but he was seen giving Singletary a congratulatory back slap for one of the rookie's better runs. -
Tuesday OTA: Info from Media Attendance (edit)
TigerJ replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One critcism of Shaq coming out of Clemson is that he lacked an explosive first step. You generaly want your most explosive pass rusher on the right because it is the blind side of most QBs. That rule of thumb is changing somewhat though. -
Not really a fan of any of them, but I could see some benefit to Bell for Shady.

Death, Taxes and Peterman lighting it up....
TigerJ replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills were right to let him go, but it wouldn't surprise me if at some point it clicks for Peterman and he can overcome whatever mental issue he had in games that led to all those ill advised throws. He will look good again in preseason, but Gruden had best hold off on naming him the starter. -
"draft order based on Vegas odds to win the Super Bowl" Most mock drafters at this point are not trying to do their own projections at this time of year about how teams will finish in the rankings. If draft order is not random, it'll be based on Vegas odds, last year's finish, somebody's power rankings, etc. Several are based on Vegas odds I know.

Not sure I heard it right, but I think John Murphy talked about Kelso having interests in NASCAR that he was going to give more focus. I have no idea in what capacity that would be. Kelso is not the most charismatic of color analysts, but he's very smart and insightful about what's happening on the field. I think Eric Wood is more personable. We'll see how insightful he is.

A packectomy - now Beasley and Morse only have a five pack?

As per Ian Rappaport, recovery could take 3-4 months. If true, Kroft will miss at the very least half of training camp, and may not be ready unil a few games into the regular season. The rookies are suddenly much more important. Tommy Sweeney is the less athletic of the two draftees, but he is pretty polished and well rounded for a rookie. This may have more of an impact on him than anyone else. If Kroft were healthy, he might be a good candidate for the PS, but if Kroft is not ready to go, the Bills may want his polish on the field rather than Dawson Knox, the more athletic but less experienced rookie. I know Lee Smith is in the mix, and he may be used a little more as a receiver, but they aren't going to rely on him as a starter in single TE formations.

There are Dolphin fans up there? Oh no! Rest in peace, Sue.

I believe on One Bills Live it was stated that the attendance of Bills players was very good. I'm not sure how they would have learned that, and it wasn't specific, but it's something at least.

Informative video on H. Phillips, Edmunds, Milano
TigerJ replied to billsgpr88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interchangeability for both of the Phillips "brothers" would be a good thing. It's a given that Star is gong to play the nose and I'm pretty sure Oliver is going to spend most of his time at three tech, unlike his time at Houston. I just remember it being said that Harrison's most natural position is playing 1 tech given his strength and leverage even though he's undersized. And he's not been as explosive as you'd like your 3 tech to be. I recently heard Harrison say that his growing edge has been to try and become more explosive. That will certainly help him play 3 tech if that is a goal. -
Bills secondary left out of top-tier mention

Pro Football Focus has their own ranking of secondaries. Buffalo is ranked 10th. https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-nfl-secondary-rankings-all-32-teams-after-17-weeks -

Yes, I believe most of Harrison's reps were in relief of Star, while most of Jordan Phillips' reps were in relief of Kyle. -
High praise from Gil Brandt for the Bills’ offseason moves
TigerJ replied to BisonMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills are far from the only team that needs their QB to stay healthy. Matt Barkley did well enough in the game he played last season, I think the Bills could withstand losing Allen for a game or two. A lot would depend on who the opponent is. -

I think he played more 1 tech than three tech. Jordan Phillips, despite being a lot bigger, had more snaps at three tech in relief for Kyle Williams than Harrison. Harrison has great hand usage and strength, but doesn't have as much explosion that three techs are able to use in being disruptive. -
Cover 1: Analyzing the Bills’ Athletic Linebackers
TigerJ replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The advantage of employing a defense that values traits differently than the rest of the league is that you can get the best players for your system at draft positions that represent great value. -
Adam Gase does it because he can.

Bills projected to pick 4th in 2020
TigerJ replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Some people doing mock drafts this early at least give an explanation for their draft order. One used the reverse order of somebody's power rankings for instance. Some will say it's random. Without some explanation, this is just indefensible. -
Foster was a UDFA

What's wrong with the tight ends who were signed as tight ends? Dawson Knox is a bit raw, but he knows more about playing tight end than Tyree Jackson does, and he's just as athletic. Kroft is not quite as athletic, but is a good all around tight end if he can stay healthy. I think the OP is overrating the extra couple inches of height that Tyree Jackson possesses.

However. . .if the Bills should ever happen to switch to a 3-4, I'll bet Oliver could make a pretty seamless transition to a 5 tech defensive end. I'm not advocating that, to be sure, but that could work pretty well. He might ev en be able to play a rush linebacker in that scheme.
