  1. I think offensive line is the main area where turnover is going to be a huge issue, and the offensive line can't be worse than last season. Yes, there are new receivers, but they are likely to be two primary holdovers that will give Josh Allen something of a security blanket in Foster and Jones. If Allen can't develop some quick chemistry with Brown and Beasley, and whoever else is playing receiver, then a lot of passes will be going to Foster and Jones. Tight end also has turnover, but Croom could stick around as a holdover. Josh Allen also seems to be developing some early chemistry with Dawson Knox. That could turn into something special with Knox's athleticism. On defense, the Bills have a pretty normal level of turnover - no more than 2 starters Oliver at 3 tech and possibly Kevin Johnson at CB across from Tre White. Both could end up being talent upgrades.
  2. Well, Vontae Davis was the starting CB opposite Tre White - for a half.
  3. If McDermott wants to test the idea on some fans, I'm game.
  4. The nice thing is the Bills also have depth. Yes, it would be better if he can stay healthy, but the Bills don't have to feel dismayed at having to play Levi Wallace or EJ Gaines if Kevin Johnson gets nicked up.
  5. I thought Buffalo had a nice balanced take on Jim Kelly's comments to the media at his golf tournament. https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2019/6/4/18650848/jim-kelly-spending-time-in-buffalo-bills-quarterback-room-during-offseason-josh-allen-ken-dorsey
  6. I agree that Beane has done an outstanding job of cap management. I think he could easily have been named one of the top five. I think most of the top five on the list have been in the role of GM for a lot longer than Beane, so they may be getting points for longevity. The exception is John Lynch in San Francisco. I don't know why the author things Lynch is doing a better job than Beane.
  7. I agree. If he did anything for the Bills with respect to Allen, it would be an occasional conversation.
  8. OK. Go for it. I'll be waiting for your post.
  9. John Murphy and Chris Brown spoke about this on OBL today. Chris Brown made the point that the main thing that weighs against the Bills dethroning the Patriots is the fact that they will have a massive roster turnover this year. As much as half the 53 man roster may be new to the roster this year. Typically, teams that enjoy long term NFL success generally experience annual turnover at somewhere in the 10-15% range. On the other hand, the Patriots will experience more than their average turnover this year. That could make them more vulnerable.
  10. Hmm. Saquan Barkley and Myles Garrett are awfully tempting. Both are young and among the best in their position in the NFL. I would not go with an elite WR because of the number of touches per game. He's going to be a target maybe 10 times in a game, and make 7-9 receptions. Barkley is going to have at least twice that many carries, and probably add a handful of receptions. On defense, Garrett's youth is the deciding factor. I would not go with Aaron Donald because Ed Oliver has the chance to have a similar impact. Between the two, I'll go with Barkley because I think he can have the bigger impact.
  11. For me, trying to pick a favorite is kind of an arbitrary choice. I like some more than others for their potential impact. I like some because they have a cool story. Dawson Knox's story is interesting, for instance: a good high school QB who walked on at Ole Miss so he could switch positions. It took like 35 lbs of weight gain, but he's smart and athletic. He's considered raw, but seems to have a very well rounded game. He can block, he can catch and he runs good routes. He might find himself atop the depth chart sooner than later with Kroft having broken his foot. Seems like he's got a laid back personality, but his philosophy as a player is to outwork whoever is ahead of him. Then Ty Nsekhe has a good story to, and Duke Williams, and David Sills, and a bunch of others.
  12. All I've ever paid for is the ticket to get in. I haven't been to many games over the years, but when I do go, I eat before I get there, and the men's room is still free.
  13. I think I have a grip on reality for the Bills. At the same time, it's better for the team and the starting QB to look good in OTAs than it is to look bad.
  14. No sign of cancer so far. I'm hopeful. It was caught fairly early - stage 2, still considered relatively curable with a 50% cure rate.
  15. Having no hair to speak of is a definite plus for doing that challenge! It's a lot easier than the lung surgery and chemo I had to go through a couple years ago. LOL!
  16. Still a good player, but Buffalo is getting excellent value from their CBs. All of them are reasonably priced. I think Norman would throw things out of whack with his big contract. I'd rather keep the players we have and do some judicious contract extensions as their current deals get closer to the end.
  17. Among the worthless efforts of football reporter/commentator types in the springtime, this was probably the worst. McDermott is bad because Buffalo has only had 2 winning seasons since 2000? OK.
  18. He just thinks he's so good he doesn't need practice to learn the offense. Chemistry with his QB? Who needs it?
  19. Like almost every other Bill I've heard recently, Knox sounds smart and committed to being the best player he can be. "I'm focused on outworking the guy ahead of me." Of course, right now with Kroft and Croom both on the shelf, the bar isn't just set low, there is no bar for him to try and exceed. He's still working his tail off.
  20. I'm not convinced that McDermott hasnn't memorized the offensive playbook by now and could not call a game if he had to. He won't though.
  21. The NFL is not too big for him. Very cool!
  22. A very pleasant scenario. The only thing I would add, is highly unlikely. Tom Brady announces his impending retirement after the post season prior to the Bills knocking them off.
  23. I agree with most of this, except that I don't think McDermott is completely hands off with respect to the offense. I think there is communication between McDermott and Daboll and Daboll will take McDermott's preferences into account, though Daboll will handle the day to day operations of the offense.
  24. I can't help, but I was there once (cruise/train trip). In August, the weather was pretty pleasant. I was surprised to learn Fairbanks actually has a rather dry climate- average annual rainfall equivalent, about 11 inches. I have no desire to be there in January though.
  25. I know that nothing Daboll said about Josh Allen should come as a huge surprise, but it's nice to hear that he appears to be on track as far as his development is concerned.
