  1. As I understood it, Marrone left Buffalo because of the uncertainty associated with the transition to a new owner following the death of Ralph Wilson. The rumor was that he expected to walk into the head coach job for the Jets after he left Buffalo. Of course, that didn't happen.
  2. If you're just talking physical attributes, Buffalo has a pair of QBs in the "perfect" conversation. No, I don't mean Matt Barkley.
  3. Post Menopausal Trauma
  4. Buffalo can trade them a guard in mid August, who looks like he's not going to win the competition to start, maybe get a decent draft pick in return.
  5. I would like to see a skills competition at the Pro Bowl, distance and accuracy competitions for QBs, speed for WRs, CBs, and even RBs, strength competitions for linemen etc. Not just for pro bowl players, but anyone who wants to try their hand. Reid Ferguson can reprise his long snapping stunt, and see if others can match it. Do it for charity. There ought to be something interesting at the Pro Bowl. The game itself is a yawner.
  6. I don't think coaches would buy into scheduling player breaks based on home fan reaction. I think it would be based on strategy to try and win the most games. Elite teams will believe they can beat the weakest teams on their schedule with a backup QB, and maybe a few more backups on the field than for some of the better teams on their schedule. It could present a peculiar dilemma for cellar dwellers who might contemplate sucking for a top draft pick. They might find themselves facing several teams with backup QBs, making it harder to lose while looking like you're trying to win. As far as the preseason is concerned, 2 preseason games would force teams to use games more for preparation of their starters for the season, and there would be almost no evaluation of rookies in preseason games. That would all take place on the practice field. Once in a while a rookie comes along who in invisible in practice, but really shines when in an actual game situation. There will be in increased risk of players like that falling through the cracks.
  7. I don't really believe that. That philosophy turns everybody who makes a bad choice into a victim of fate.
  8. He's bright, articulate and presents himself well on camera. Lots of bright people do some stupid things at some point in their lives. I believe in redemption and second chances. I hope it works out well for him.
  9. My understanding is the new turf is exactly the same stuff as the old.
  10. I don't hate Lamar Jackson, but Josh Allen has so much more than Jackson in the way of tools to be a great QB, comparing the two is just silly.
  11. I think somebody else did a listing of best coaches earlier in the offseason where McDermott didn't get a sniff of top ten. It shows how subjective an exercise like this is, except for guys like Belichick who've won multiple championships. That said, I like McDermott a lot and think he is an outstanding head coach. I hope the time is coming when that can be measured in championships.
  12. Hmm. There are not going to be any decent TEs available between now and the end of August, but the Bills are probably going to have to cut somebody who could help the Jets. Tyler Kroft may start the season injured, but he's likely going to be on the Bills' roster unless they decide foot injuries are going to be an ongoing issue for Kroft. Dawson Knox will be on the roster. After that it's uncertain. Sweeney could make the roster. Croom could also. Lee Smith has a chance to make it as a blocking tight end. That's five tight ends who could have NFL caliber ability (if not starting ability). Buffalo is not keeping five tight ends on the roster. Buffalo may reluctantly have to cut a tight end with the expectation the Jets will pick him up from the waiver wire.
  13. I'm assuming that an 18 game regular season would be coupled with a reduction in the preseason by two games. The idea doesn't bother me as much as it does some of y'all. The QB position is the main hangup. Does the league try to convince the player's association to exempt the QB position from a 16 game limit? Otherwise your'e asking fans to accept that there are going to be two scheduled games where their favorite team's offense ma be severely handicapped. It will add a strategizing aspect to the season that doesn't now exist to be sure. The thing is, there are a few teams in the league that have a pretty good backup QB situation, but not very many. If Matt Barkley's game last season is any indication, there is at least a possibility that Buffalo could turn out to be one of the haves, instead of a have not. One thing it would almost certainly do (if the starting QB has to miss 2 games) is force teams to carry 3 QBs on the 53 man roster. It also might pressure the league to expand the 53 man roster by a few more players.I kind of like the strategy aspect of it.
  14. Yeah, We need a receiver who can make a big splash once in a while.
  15. Let me help you. You don't.
  16. Honey Roast Creamy. I'm not sure they can even legally call it "peanut butter," because it doesn't quite have enough peanuts with the added sweetener/honey. It's good though. I usually have it in a sandwich 2 or 3 times a week.
  17. I can't help him. My kidneys aren't working so well these days. I wish I knew what the cause was. Not NSAIDS in my case.
  18. I'd rather have three or four very good WRs than one legendary WR and scrubs.
  19. I think I would rephrase the second point. 1-Josh Allen development 2-Did Beane get enough support pieces for Allen on offense, AND can the new starters gel quickly enough. The offensive line is very important, but Allen has to be able to develop chemistry with all the new skill position players too.
  20. I'll go you one better. I don't drink coffee or beer, I'm definitely not their target customer
  21. Simms had decent speed. He has average size...The circumstances surrounding his departure from WVU certainly don't scream "team first guy." Sixteen teams attended his pro day. Buffalo was among the missing. Add it all together and the prospects for Buffalo participating in the supplemental draft for Simms amount to "fat chance."
  22. My prediction is that less than 10% of the Sportsdrop's predictions will prove accurate. Buffalo's record of 10 wins has a chance to be one of them.
  23. I think you're on to something HUUUUGE!
  24. But, but, he's a Belichick protege. All Belichick protoges are destine for greatness. You know that, just like Bill O'Neill. Oh yeah, maybe not.
