Bills Training Camp: Day 4 - 7/28
TigerJ replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah. The Bills already know what Bodine can do. That's why they signed Morse. They want to know how adequately other players can fill in for Morse should he get injured. If Feliciano/Long can do a decent job snapping the ball, Bodine is likely history. -
Robert Foster did. It appears Ray Ray McCloud has done so for this training camp. Obviously we don't know what training and conditioning work KB has done since the Bills cut him last year.
-
It's always possible that KB finally got the message that being a professional football player takes effort and dedication. He probably flops, but there's always a chance he gets things turned around.

My nephew had lymphoma. I think it was Hodgkins, and stage 3 like Kyle Peko's wife's cancer. He's doing fine now! That was just a couple years ago.

Astro Notes: Bills Practice 2 (7/26)
TigerJ replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Another nice writeup. I know I've seen where it was mentioned, but I'm old, and I forget stuff - Astro is Dean Kindig who does all the Bills commentary for mock drafts at www.drafttek.com That's one of the mock draft sites I look for. -
Sills has not played with starters, and that's where everybody is focusing their attention. We're not hearing much of anything about Boldin, McKenzie, or Duke Willliams either, because it is Matt Barkley or Tyree Jackson who are throwing the ball to them.

My wife's best friend was treated for, and looked like she had beaten the bladder cancer. She died suddenly from an unrelated heart attack. My thoughts and prayers are with you for your chemo. It sounds as if your chemo is to be what is called adjuvant chemotherapy. With no cancer detected outside the bladder area, the assumption is they got all of it, but the chemo is a bit of insurance in case a few cells have migrated to other parts of the body, but have not grown to detectable levels. The chemo is to try and kill them. That was the purpose of my chemo. I finished it up 2 years ago this month. Take good care of yourself during chemo. Cancer cells thrive in the presence of sugar, so take it easy on candy, cookies and dessert. The effects of chemo are cumulative, so after your first session you may think it's a piece of cake. Get adequate sleep and eat right from day one. As the effects build up, listen to your body, and make sure you get the rest you need. Do the best you can to make sure you're not exposed to people with illnesses, especially as the chemo progresses. It will depress your body's ability to make white blood cells. Your white blood cell count will start to drop, and you'll pick up illnesses more easily.

Bobby Johnson?

Pancho Billa can wear a wild costume and makeup and he's the quintessential Bills fan, while some guy dresses up as Darth Bill and he's a dope? Dressing up is not my thing, but if some guys can have fun with it, more power to them.

We heard the news today that she is fighting stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Stage 3 means it has spread, though has not been found in other organs. The good news is that even late stage lymphomas, including Hodgkin's are among the more curable cancers. The five year survival rate for stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma is 83 %. I know we like to see !00%, but as one whose cancer gives me a five year survival rate of 55%, 83% looks pretty good. The worst part, of course, is having to go through chemo to get that survival rate. It's never fun, but someone who is young and otherwise in good health can deal with it and still maintain something of a normal routine.

You're excited by the possibility of seeing Matt Barkley hand the ball off?
-
He's significantly faster than Hockenson. I don't know if there are any aspects where Hockenson can claim an advantage.
-
Same hammy that gave him trouble in the spring?
-
I think it has been said in a tweet somewhere that McCoy has been unavailable to the media since having an off season last year. He's kind of sensitive that way. I can't speek to the rest of White's observations.
-
Outstanding detailed write up. I probably know more about the practice session, having read the article, than if I had attended myself.
-
I've seen fan camp notes that are more thorough and detailed than any media outlet reporter.

Bangarang beat you to it. Versatility makes an offensive line more resilient when injuries hit, but no area of a team is more dependent on the chemistry that comes from stability than the offensive line. There will be situations where guys will sub in to allow a starter to rest up, but those are going to be individual substitutions, not platooning like we'll see on the defensive line.

Prediction: Bills Will Keep ALL their RBs

Let's see how they use Sweeney in training camp. -

Bills 2017 Draft - It Might Be Really Good
TigerJ replied to BillsfaninSB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not writing off Dawkins and Jones yet, but this needs to be a very good year for both. It's simpler matter for Dawkins, who is the presumptive starter at LT and is going to get 95% of the offensive snaps this season barring injury, It's a bit more of a challenge for Zay Jones who has to share receptions with John Brown and Cole Beasley, in addition to a developing Robert Foster. -
I do think the Patriots are planning on transitioning away from Brady. They started to do so last season by running the ball more. Despite having a solid group of running backs, they added Damien Harris, who is probably good for 20 -25 carries per game if they actually wanted to use him that much. Brady is still going to have a lot of passing yards and completions, but Belichick is planning on making things easier for Brady by forcing opponents to focus more on stopping the run. I can't say for sure that the Patriots won't extend Brady one more season, but I can't see them offering more than 15 million. They are just planning on not having to depend on a superstar at QB, and won't want to pay him like one either.

Which player will surprise us most this summer?
TigerJ replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll go with Garrett McGhin. No, he's not going to make the 53 man roster, but he's a big, strong athletic guy who is going to show he can correct the technique weaknesses he had coming out of college. He's also got position flexibility, having played every spot on the line but left tackle. He will make the PS. -
I doubt he will be a factor this season. It is an interesting story. He was out of shape and had injury issues. My immediate concern is time frame. In the space of like 6 weeks, he lost 56 lbs, then gained 16 back. I don't know what he expects will be his final playing weight. The point is, he's probably still in transition from a physical standpoint, and now he's going to be heading into training camp. I would much rather he had a whole off season to remake himself, and especially to get in a weight room and turn flab into solid muscle, whatever his weight target. Once training camp starts, it's a whole lot tougher to focus on strength, condition and diet when you're in training camp because there's so much other stuff going on.

Long shot, Abraham Wallace
TigerJ replied to MakeBuffaloGreatAgain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Abraham Wallace and this thread are getting their second chances. Average size (a hair over 5' 10" at his pro day). Average speed, but the Bills obviously like something about him.
