  1. Yeah. For now he's camp depth. A year with NFL strength and conditioning training could make a world of difference.
  2. In honor of a departed guard for Buffalo, he played incognito.
  3. Position flexibility is a priority for Sean McDermott. It's quite possible that Feliciano will be a starter at guard, but if Morse goes out, he could move to center. Right now, it's starting to look more like it will be Ford and Spain at guard and Nsekhe at right tackle, but having pieces you can move around and still be effective gives a team a great advantage when it comes to injuries. One of the reasons Bodine may not be long for this roster is that while he's a sub par center, he's worse at guard.
  4. Absolutely. Several Bills cuts are going to end up on other teams. Continuity has been my mantra for years now. Of course it starts with getting the right people at the top.
  5. He's a good PS prospect. He'd be a perfect PS prospect if he was 23 years old.
  6. I don't think there is much evaluation of Tyree Jackson going on. He will make the PS or not mostly based on his athleticism and skill set, and what he does in a practice setting. He's not a threat at all to make the 53 man roster.
  7. I think so too. After Morse, there are a few players who can play center in a pinch, and not look terrible. Bodine really is a center only and does look terrible at times. Feliciano, Long, and even Boettger can all snap the ball, and offer you something at guard as well.
  8. Better than Bodine.
  9. Conversely, Bodine demonstrated why the Bills went out and made Mitch Morse the richest center in the NFL. Please get better, Mitch. The Bills need to be able to cut Bodine's behind. The same goes fro Vlad Ducasse. I'll give Spain a mulligan on his holding penalty this time, but I don't want to see him make a habit of it.
  10. It may have been the worst Bills game of all time. Early 80s, Monday Night game versus the Jets. The Bills were BAD and the play on the field was ugly. There was no limit of beer sales and by halftime drunk Bills fans were turning surly. There were fights all over the stadium and full cups of beer were being thrown all over the place. Anyone who got out of there that night without wreaking of bad beer had to have been wearing a disposable rain parka, and the weather was dry.
  11. I guess there's nothing anyone else can add to that.
  12. If only I had an arm like Allen's and was 45 years younger.
  13. The thinking of some is that if you lose an early game you can make up for it by playing better and winning games later. I suppose there could be something to that, but the first game of the season counts in the standings at the end of the season just as much as a December game. Add to that the fact that it's a division game, and I think it's pretty important. A few pundits think the Jets are a better team. A win in the Meadowlands on the first game of the season send a message to thos pundits that they might want to rethink their preseason assessments.
  14. Jones is definitely not a threat to start, but he has the advantage over Sam Young of being young, which means there could be some unrealized upside.
  15. I actually made it to training camp today. Don't ask me to even begin to do what he does together with his spotters, but it was kind of cool to see him mention some of the things I actually caught. My companions and I sat on the south side, opposite from Astro and the gang The sun was at our backs, but it definitely wasn't shady as he said.
  16. Sam Young is always going to be a scrub, but sometimes you have to fill in the bottom of the roster with as few scrubs, just in case.
  17. I'm sure there will be cost cutting moves, but Bills news is as likely as anything to sell newspapers. The new owners will have someone covering the Bills if not the grizzled veterans.
  18. Well, we knew the Bills were never going to be on a list like that from Barnwell.
  19. Under the circumstances, I would guess the most likely cause of death is heart attack or stroke. It should make us cognizant of the fragility of life. Being older, it sure reminds me not to take the time I have left for granted.
  20. I had the same reaction to Eli. He's had a nice career, with a couple Super Bowl wins, but if the question is "What have you done for me lately?" the answer is, "Not much."
  21. I believe in second chances, but Gordon's repeated disregard for the rules regarding drug use cast considerable doubt on any alleged sincerity in his rehab efforts.
  22. Yes, there has been a lot of turnover. I'm hopeful that we'll see less going forward because McDermott has developed a sense of what he wants in his assistants, and he has coaches that match his profile better. Best case scenario is he's going to lose a few going forward because they'll have opportunity for advancement because they are good.
  23. He was a good, not a legendary RB for the Bills. I don't know that he was ever really happy as a Bill. I don't know that he could leave fast enough. It's always interesting to me that Frank Gore was his predecessor at Miami.
  24. When McDermott started his head coaching gig, he specifically looked for experience, particularly where he did not have a shared past history. The reason he did was his own lack of experience in a head coaching position. Rick Dennison had years of experience in the coaching ranks and at least several years as an OC. Castro was experienced. The QB coach had not been a QB coach in the pros, but he was a very experienced WR coach, who came highly recommended. The WR and ST coaches were both very experienced. As McDermott became more comfortable in his head coaching position, he also developed a strong personal preference for what he wanted in his assistants. Coaches who weren't coaching the way he wanted - hands on, with energy and lots of teaching - and getting results, were canned. If he can be faulted, I guess it's because he didn't have a better handle on the coaching abilities of the guys who were canned. The guys with whom he replaced them are generally more energetic, hands on and younger. Experience in the coaching ranks is no longer as important.
  25. Ed Reed specified his negative experience in Buffalo was due to the fact that the assistants on the staff (coordinators and position coaches were spending their time yelling and swearing when players messed up, rather than teaching the players where they went wrong. I agree that while Reed exonerates Wrecks, he really shouldn't because it is up to the head coach to set the tone and the operating philosophy of the staff. Wrecks hired the buffoons who worked for him, and that makes him the head buffoon. I appreciate the fact that multiple observers have commented on how McDermott's staff seems to focus on teaching. They are energetic, to be sure, but they are all about how to do it better next time.
