Odds of both Daboll and Frazier being back next year
TigerJ replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think the odds are 100%, but I do think they are high - in the 90% range that both return. -
When they let me tackle you, I'm gonna shut that yapper.

2016 NFL Draft Grades: Shaq Lawson Is Graded at a D+
TigerJ replied to Phil The Thrill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His first season was a waste, and his second was only marginally better despite being healthy. Last season he was better, but not first round good. He's entering his fourth season having to compete with another player listed as starter because of his ineffectiveness in his second season. He's not a bust but his productivity over the first three years of his career is no where near justification for his lofty draft status. That's why he got a poor grade. Since the Bills declined to pick up his fifth year option, once this season is over he'll be choosing to accept what is likely to be a fairly modest offer from Buffalo or exploring free agency. If he does the latter, the Bills get nothing for him. I did note that there were a number of first round picks that were rated "F." So, it could have been worse. As far as I know, Ferrell is healthy, which gives him a leg up on Lawson. He was a higher pick though, so expectations will be even higher. -

Late night discussion: Should Josh Allen run less in 2019?
TigerJ replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sleep is generally more productive than late night discussions. -
i think there is quite a bit of insight in this thread: History, journalistic laziness etc. There is also Brandon Beane's careful cap management, which tends to avoid signing a lot of big name free agents. One of the bigger reasons may be continued national skepticism about Josh Allen. His small town, junior college and Wyoming background just doesn't seem like a recipe for success. It's possible that a successful season in 2019 combined with another strong offseason will begin to chance perceptions, but even then it may be a slow process. I'm guessing if the Bills are 10-6 in 2019, predictions from the national media for 2020 will be the Bills go 8-8

Nothing here, folks.

When people talk about great veteran players not needing preseason reps to perform in the regular season, they aren't usually talking about veterans who have sat out an entire season and switched teams so that they are working with an entirely new set of personnel and an entirely new scheme. I thik that will weigh on his performance more than the fact that he's "fresh."

Bills TC Day 15 (8/14) Joint Practice #2 with Panthers

That's how it looked to me. -
Bills TC Day 15 (8/14) Joint Practice #2 with Panthers
TigerJ replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I read one comment to the effect that the Panthers offense looked more effective than Buffalo's offense at moving the ball. That would suggest Buffalo was not an obvious winner. On the other side of it, while Josh Allen wasn't perfectly on target with every pass, he generally had a good day, looking comfortable and in command of the Bills offense. -
I have to admit, it takes guts to come out and say, "I was taking drugs because I can't make babies." If he was just trying to cook up an excuse, I would think he could come up with a less embarrassing one. It tends to make him more believable.

Props to Scott and the entire TBD staff.

AZ Cardinals Front Office in trouble again
TigerJ replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In this case, it is obviously a consequence of the employer being in a business that is a scrutinized by the public as much or more than any other. I'm now retired, but I was in a rather public position, albeit on a much smaller scale. Had I ever been convicted of DUI or DWI, the consequences for me and my employer would have been very high as well. -
Bills release 2nd unofficial depth chart
TigerJ replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm assuming the depth chart on the Bills website is also the updated one. Here is the link: Micah Hyde is quite safe. https://www.buffalobills.com/team/depth-chart -
The problem is this time of the year, most of the rocks and dirt have already been thoroughly sifted. You may find a nugget, but if you do that means you're really lucky.

Munnerlyn is a nice safety net if there are more injuries in the defensive backfield. Same thing for Acho. This tweaking of the back end of the roster is not unusual in the least. Best case scenario - none of them see a regular season rep because that means someone ahead of them on the depth chart suffered an injury.

Steelers WR coach Darryl Drake dies suddenly
TigerJ replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Of course, I agree 62 is way too young to die. I'm 67 and I think 67 is too young to die. I wonder who is out there that can come in and do a quality job coaching receivers for the Steelers. -
Vanilla defenses?

I don't think many were surprised by this.

Darnold is a good young QB, and probably ahead of Josh Allen in some ways, but the Jets offensive line is below average. That may give Buffalo the opportunity to do things that disrupt Darnold's game.

We're depending on those notes. Be sure to take your staff so you don't miss anything.

Prediction for the Bills this season
TigerJ replied to Ice bowl 67's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are things we still don't have a good read on, but I'll take the optimist's perspective and say 10-6. That mainly depends on the offensive line jelling and Josh Allen improving as hoped. -
2nd Team O-Line better than last year's 1st Team
TigerJ replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Depends on how much they like Teller long term. He does have some nice traits. Also, the Bills may still have long term intentions of moving Ford to tackle permanently. Nsekhe is 33 and on a 2 year contract. The fact that Ford can play tackle makes carrying the extra guard less impractical than if Ford were strictly a guard. 8 is a standard complement of offensive linemen, as you say, but 9 is not unheard of. I think Buffalo had 11 at one point last season.
