Do the Bills have any National Star Power or Big Names left?
TigerJ replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Time for a new generation of Bills players to start carving out a legacy. -
I think to be eligible for reinstatement to the active roster, he could not be IRed until after the Bills had reached the 53 man roster limit. I think the Bills are content to keep him on the shelf this season so he can mature and get a little smarter in his on field decision making.
-
I think his injury is legit. I don't know that it would have kept him off the field more than a couple weeks, but that does not matter.
-
Bad in testing and bad in interviews. I hope Jets fans are not surprised by this.
-
I'm a bit surprised, but I can understand it, I think. Shady is a pretty ordinary back now, and was being paid a somewhat high end salary for a RB. The Bills can probably get comparable production out of Devin Singletary on a rookie contract.
-
I assume Gore and Singletary are safe, probably Yelden too. No news on Perry, but with his special teams usefulness, the Bills may well keep him. All that could change if Saquon Barkley gets released by the Giants and nobody else picks him up, but I'm not expecting that to happen.

Hou & NYJ scouring the market for RBs
TigerJ replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cincinnati is down to two of them. Maybe they would be in the market too. -
Cincinnati is down to two running backs with Rodney Anderson having torn his ACL. I wonder if Beane can persuade them to part with a late round pick for Yeldin or Murphy., whichever one Buffalo decides not to keep.
-
Not a shock to anyone. The interesting question is whether or not Eddie Yarbrough makes the 53 man roster as a fifth DE. He's be quiet all preseason until last night, when he turned into a tackling machine. Mike Love's trip to IR opened the door a crack and he did his best to push it open the rest of the way.

Buffalo's own P Jake Schum would like to play for the Bills
TigerJ replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Buffalo will look very closely at the options. -
Agreed. I hate to see it. Not much one can do about it though. Beane could see if he could find a trading partner. Chase McLaughlin for a 2021 7th round pick. That's chump change, but if it can keep a decent kicker out of Jetsland, it's worth it.

Bills Players Kneeling in End Zone

Judging from responses, a fair number of posters do. -
Does Tyree Jackson Remind anyone of Collin Kaepernick?
TigerJ replied to mykidsdad's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kaepernik was MUCH further ahead in his development than Tyree, and there were still things he couldn't do well. Both are tall (Tyree - really tall), athletic and have big arms. Tyree is more likable. -
Any All-Pro Bills this year?

Ironically, when Tre White came out of LSU, he was said to be a good zone coverage CB whose man skills were suspect. -
is Brown REALLY much better then Jones?
TigerJ replied to macaroni's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brown is an outstanding route runner with speed to burn. That means he gets open reliably, and once he's open, he tends to stay open unless the DB has help. Add to that the fact that he has good hands and plays bigger than his listed size, and it's beyond debate that Brown is better. Jones is a good route runner, but his speed is only OK and he's had a case of the dropsies at various times in his career. I think he's still developing, and the final product could be pretty good, but he's not there yet. -
He could have waited until halftime at the Colts opener.

Bills Security Blanket at Back Up QB Position !!
TigerJ replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I doubt that the Colts would even contact the Bills about Barkley. They have to know he's not for sale. If they are shopping, and I'm not sure they are, there are other places they might go to try and pry a halfway decent backup QB loose. For the Bills part, Barkley is far more valuable to them than the price they are paying for his services. I can't even imagine what they would think is fair compensation. -
I would not trade any player with significant long term upside for Clowney for the simple reason that Clowney's franchise tag does not allow him to be signed to a long term deal. He could say he wants to be a Buffalo Bill. He could even agree to general terms on a future contract, but that agreement is not legally binding in any way. When the season is over, Clowney is a free agent and another team can come in with a ridiculous offer. Clowney can say "Screw you." to whatever verbal agreement his agent might have had with Buffalo. You have to regard Clowney as a one year rental. From my perspective that drops his trade value to well below what Houston's asking price will be

Good reason to not let your kids play football
TigerJ replied to Bubba Gump's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I never played sports as a kid. My parents wanted me to concentrate of school work. I don't think that was necessarily the right choice, but here I am. i do seem to be blessed with a very thick skull LOL. A couple years ago I stepped on the edge of a sidewalk. The driveway that was next to it was three inches lower and I went face down on the concrete sidewalk - hard. I never passed out. I had a big goose egg on my forehead, but had no headaches and no symptoms of any kind. At the urging of people who knew what happened, I went to the emergency room where they did a CT scan of my head. Nothing. -
Common picks for the Bills among the early mock drafts are Chase Young and A. J. Epenesa - highly regarded defensive ends, and Jerry Jeudy and Laviska Shenault WRs. Unfortunately, those early mocks mostly have Buffalo picking in the top 5 to top 12 in the draft. If the plans of the Bills and hopes of the fans pan out, the Bills will be picking a lot later than that. If the Bills pick a bit later in the first round, Yetur Gross-Mattos is a nice looking edge rusher out of Penn State, Tee Higgins is a tall receiver with some speed out of Clemson. Still later, the Bills could get Terrell Lewis, edge rusher from Alabama or CeeDee Lamb, a receiver from Oklahoma. Other first round edge rushers might be Kenny Willekes or Anfernee Jennings. There is also an additional handful of receivers who could go late in the first.

Good reason to not let your kids play football
TigerJ replied to Bubba Gump's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My son messed up his knees doing high school wrestling. If we try to insulate our kids from any risk of long term injury, my suspicion is they will end up paying a price in other ways that may be even greater. -
Any All-Pro Bills this year?
TigerJ replied to Drunken Pygmy Goat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like Tre White, but the Bills' zone defense on the back end doesn't tend to lead to lots of recognition, compared to a shut down corner in man coverage. -
Paylor was a guest on One Bills Live today. No big revelations - he mostly talked about stuff in his article and his twitter thread.

DE Mike Love - on IR, Waive OL Wesley
TigerJ replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seems that way to me. Interesting how Yarbrough used to be the fan darling fringe DE and he probably won't make the team this season. Yarbrough is a good kid and works hard, but DJ actually has talent.
