Fairburn: Singletary officially out this week
TigerJ replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There was a time when "consensus" and a dime would get you a cup of coffee. Now it takes "consensus" and a couple bucks, more if you go to Starbucks. -
Fairburn: Singletary officially out this week
TigerJ replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think we have a consensus here. Get through the Cincinnati game with a win while resting T Johnson and Singletary, then play NE at full health, or as close to that as possible. It helps that New England is beat up on their offensive line, enough that Brady is pleading for the officials to let the replacements hold so he has time to pass. -
I'd say Eli is more "done" than Cam. I can't see him getting another starting gig in the NFL, and I think the odds are he retires after the season. Cam at least gets the rest of the season as a starter if/when he's healthy enough.

Mitch Morse - his special bond with his brother

It's no accident that there are a lot of "stories" represented by members of the Buffalo Bills. Our stories have a significant role in shaping who we are, and the kind of players McDermott and Beane are looking for are more often than not are going to have some great stories. -
I see there is no indication from Bundchen in the article about this season and the next Superbowl. If Brady thinks he knows and isn't telling, is that because the Patriots fall short?

Suddenly, I'm much less worried about Buffalo's game with Tennessee in a few weeks.
-
Well, I'm not sure they have any more players who are worth a first at this point.

How many days before he demands a trade?

Seriously, what football fan is going to pay attention to any media guy named Middlehurst-Schwartz?
-
It was inevitable, but unfortunately for Rosen making the switch is unlikely to help a thing. The Dolphins need about 2 drafts and three years' time to help matters, if they draft smart.

Hopefully, he'll find the servings have gotten a lot bigger by then.

NFL competition committee likely to look at Dolphins tanking

Strip them of the first round picks they've obtained via trade. LOL -
Since it was his other ankle, this point doesn't seem valid. There does seem to come a time when you have to wonder about the value of keeping a player on the roster who can't stay on the field.

Is Some Respect Starting to Come the Bills Way ?
TigerJ replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not to be picky, but the article is ranking the top running QBs in the NFL, not the top QBs. How many starting QBs in the NFL are legitimately called running QBs? -
I don't know about "football reasons" to go after him, but he'd be a natural to sign a deal as a spokesman for Mighty Taco.

Melvin Gordon seems to be watching Bills Twitter
TigerJ replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed, though it has less to do with his ability on the field and more to do with him wanting too much. -
So Gase Fails signed David Fales? Had the Patriots made an offer to Davis Webb, it would shock me to learn he replied, "No thanks." Yeah, he'd have been on an active roster, and it would have meant more pay, but it would only be until Darnold recovered from his case of mono, a month or so. It would have meant having to endure what is looking more and more like a dysfunctional organization. Then after fa few weeks he would have been cut. Buffalo is starting to develop a reputation as an organization that has it together, and a team where players actually care about each other. That may count for something.

I had never heard of poutine before a trip to the Canadian Maritimes a couple weeks ago. I ordered a variation, and asked the owner of the diner about it. He told me tit originated, he thought in Toronto. Variations consist of different kinds of meat being a layer on top of the fires, along with the gravy and cheese. It was good, but I probably like a Rochester garbage plate more.

I'm a retired pastor. Late in my career, I was at a small church that was having financial challenges. To ease the pressure on them, I took a second church that was very small. I was three years away from my expected retirement, but I told that second church, "If it works out and you want me, I promise I will serve as your pastor for five years." I did that because very small churches in my United Methodist Church normally get the leftovers in our appointment system, part time pastors who are gone after a year or two. This church had been experiencing that for many years. I figured they deserved a little continuity with a pastor who knew what he was doing. After three years, I took my pension, and could have moved on to my retirement, but kept my word, staying two more years serving part time. The last eight months I had to commute 75 miles for every Sunday service, meeting or visit with a member in his/her home, hospital or nursing home. I figured that if I made a promise, I needed to keep it. I find it a bit difficult to have sympathy for a guy who quits at halftime. That said, it's water under the bridge. I hope Davis feels fulfilled in his life, whatever he's doing.

Not going to predict whether Singletary will be active or not. I'm guessing that even if he is, Yeldon is going to get some carries this week.

Just Beat the Bengals -- Don't Look Ahead
TigerJ replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, how fans view the scope of the season doesn't really affect how the games are played. The team itself, coaches and players know to play one game at at time. They will focus on the Bengals and shut everything else out this week. -
Limiting myself to current players, I would go with a young star at the beginning of what I hope would be a great career. Mahomes is certainly a reasonable option. He looks like he might end up being a top 2 or 3 QB all time when all is said and done. Myles Garrett is another possibility. I don't like his propensity to collect personal foul penalties, but as another poster said Frazier and McDermott may be able to coach that out of him. Saquon Barkley is tempting. I like what Singletary has done, but there's no comparison to Barkley, who's bigger, faster, stronger and just as elusive. I think I would go with Garrett. He would make a good defense a terrifying defense and give the Bills an elite pass rush for the next 10 years.

Who let Cowherd on the bandwagon?
