  1. From Webster's Dictionary of Football: Dysfunctional: The culture of the Washington Redskins, from the owner on down
  2. Agreed. if he's left on the board when Buffalo is picking, he'd be hard to pass up.
  3. This gives Josh a little different kind of target. It's not going to make a huge difference. I figure he'll be good for a catch or two per game. If this offense is going to become explosive, it has to come from Josh.
  4. I voted after Josh Allen was cleared from the protocol, so I voted Duke Williams. I have not bought into the Zay Jones hate, so it would not bother me.
  5. In theory, an NFL player does not clear protocol until he can participate in a non contact practice and his brain scan remains at base. The only thing I think they could do to be more cautious is to require a scan following participation in a contact practice situation, to see if his scan is still baseline.
  6. The good news is that Cameron Wake, the Titans' biggest pass rush threat also did not practice all week. Like Nsekhe, he's listed as questionable for Sunday (with a hamstring).
  7. That depends whether or not you're Josh Gordon and play for the Patriots.
  8. Ooops! I flipped back and forth during the Sabres game. I really don't have a horse in the football game. I just like watching it.
  9. The irony is they really did use film way back then. Now they just use that new fangled digital stuff.
  10. The "early concussion" theory is an interesting, and certainly possible, but in my reaction to Dr. Chandler's post, made the point that not every knock on the head results in a concussion, not even every hard knock on the head. It leads one to ponder why symptoms would show up in his passing, and not in his command of the huddle. You'd think if he exhibited any confusion, or anything else, somebody would have picked up on it and mad sure he got looked at.
  11. When Brandon Bean hears "costs a lot" he understands it as "not available for trade."
  12. Yeah, I agree. For some reason, I think Allen got a little nerved up in that game. He's made those short and intermediate throws to open receivers this season, but Sunday, he had trouble being consistent on pretty much everything. Not only were his deep throws usually ill advised, they were inaccurate too.
  13. My understanding is that the Vikings are on the record as saying Diggs is not available for trade. Personally, I think the Bills will keep their options open. If Allen is not cleared, it will be Webb. If he is, it may well be Duke Williams or somebody else. I'm not really expecting a trade though.
  14. The one thing that Mariota offers that Brady didn't have is mobility. I think the Bills' defense will be just fine in any case. The Bills just need to score a reasonable number of points against a Titans defense that is pretty good themselves.
  15. No. If the Bills decide they need to, Davis Webb is on the PS and already in the building. He can be activated in short order.
  16. As per Chris Brown, Josh Allen is in stage 4 of the protocol. Stage 5 is fully cleared for contact. Today was the first day of preparation for the Titans game. Josh was there, and participated in practice, just not contact. As a QB, he wears the red jersey in practice anyway. Maybe he took things a little easy, but he apparently was not VERY limited. There was no reason for him not to participate in meetings as well. By Sunday, he will have had a full week of preparation. Progress through the protocol cannot be charted in advance. However, the fact that Josh has proceeded through it at the fastest pace possible to this point suggests he could reach stage 5 - full clearance- as soon as tomorrow. I think he is more likely to start than is Barkley, based on what has happened thus far this week. With concussions you either have it or you don't. If Allen is clears the protocol, he should in theory be at no greater risk of recurrence than he would a year from now.
  17. Absolutely, and I run a 4.3 40, 4.3 minutes.
  18. I had two factors working against me. My parents felt it was better to focus on academics rather than sports, so did not allow us to play sports, until my youngest brother was allowed to join the tennis team. Perhaps more importantly, I had a developmental condition in my knees as an adolescent called Osgood-Schlatter disease. It caused calcium deposits where tendons were attached to bones in both knees. Whenever I did anything even mildly strenuous, my knees would stiffen up to where I had difficulty walking. My doctor told me if I did anything too strenuous, I risked having a tendon snap off. By the time that condition began to disappear, it was way too late to think about organized football. I did cheat some and played in the schoolyard.
  19. I think there are several reasons. Mechanics may be one of them, but the mechanics tend to degrade when he's feeling rushed. Deep throws are easier on those rare occasions when the receiver is wide open. There's a huge window and the receiver can make adjustments without fear of the DB causing problems. When the coverage is tight, I think Josh, like many QBs like to err on the side of caution, putting the ball where, if the receiver can't get it, the defender can't either. The result is an overthrow that nobody can catch. This didn't happen on every throw, but it has happened several times this season. Better pass protection will help, as will more separation by receivers. Of course, Josh needs to make better reads too, as he has not seen open receivers on a number of occasions.
  20. Having gone through 3 years of seminary and a rather grueling process to be ordained and recognized as clergy in a major denomination, I'm not especially happy about these fly by night internet outfits that grant ordinations for nothing, but they are a reality. I knew a florist who got an ordination so he could offer package deals. My nephew, who is an atheist as far as I know, got an online ordination so he could officiate a double wedding for his identical twin sisters in Scotland.
  21. My only reaction is that not every blow to the head results in a concussion. A few years ago I stepped off the edge of a sidewalk while walking. There was about a 3 inch drop off that caused me to lose my balance and fall face forward. I slammed my forehead into the concrete. Other than a large goose egg from the blow, I had no loss of consciousness, no symptoms whatsoever. No confusion, no drowiness, no headache. To make others happy, I went to the hospital to make sure. A CT scan confirmed there was no damage, no problem. Thereafter, I had no delayed symptoms.
  22. Derrick Henry is a big strong back. I think the Bills can handle the Titans' offense, but Henry is a load when he's on.
  23. Buffalo plays Brady one more time. Though the next game is in Foxboro, hopefully we can make him feel even more miserable.
