Harris and Dillon will probably both go in the middle rounds.
-
There is another thread reporting that John Brown is the leading receiver in the AFC (7th in the NFL). That's pretty good for a guy who isn't a #1. I do think it is likely Buffalo will draft a receiver in the first 2 or 3 rounds next April, but there are some other needs too that could sidetrack that thinking.

Right after Garrett made an idiot of himself, I commented that the situation was a great boon to Buffalo's playoff chances. They beat the Steelers to help keep distance between the Bills and Steelers, and the inevitable suspension would deprive Cleveland of the best pass rusher in the league, something that might cost them 2 or 3 games and make it impossible for them to creep back into Wild Card contention.

AJ Dillon is another big back with some speed, who will be in the upcoming draft. He is 6' - 6' 1" and in the neighborhood of 240 -250 lbs, and has been clocked at 4.54 in the 40. Harris has run 4.66 at 230 lbs. Harris has a slightly better YPC number than Dillon, but runs behind an offensive line comprised of future NFL players, something that may not be the case for Dillon. Dillon has been a workhorse for Boston College with over 1,000 yards as of early November.

John Brown is leading the AFC in receiving
TigerJ replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Since the New England game, the prescription for beating the Bills' offense has been to play Cover three with man coverage on the outside. That has meant John Brown just needed to be able to beat man coverage, which he can do against a lot of DBs. If his success forces defenses to double up on Brown, or shift to more of a zone look, that will open up things somewhere else. Hopefully, Josh will have the ability to make the reads and adjust. That will mean opportunities for others. -
Did anyone else notice how chippy and chatty Miami's D was?

I looked up #47 for the Dolphins. He's Vince Biegel, an outside linebacker from Wisconsin -
John Brown is leading the AFC in receiving
TigerJ replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
AFC, not NFL. Still, that's pretty impressive. Brown has always been good, but the Bills figured out he's not just a one trick pony (deep ball specialist). -
I am naturally unemotional, so my reactions during a game are pretty controlled. Being unemotional has both advantages and disadvantages.

Adam Gase and the decision to cut Jordan Phillips
TigerJ replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Phillips is very athletic for a big guy. He's at least as strong as you'd expect for a 6'5" 340 lb dude, as will as both quicker and faster. He was emotionala and maybe a little immature coming out of college. The problem in Miami was a complete lack of culture. Beane and McDermott deliberately focused on developing and nurturing a culture that helps bring out the best in players. Phillips has greatly benefitted. -
I understand he was unblocked on the play where he got his sack. He didn't blow though, and he played a solid game otherwise.

Seantrel Henderson - OT depth? (Update - visiting Bills)
TigerJ replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ryan Bates has more position versatility. He can play any spot on the offensive line. -
Lamar Jackson: I'll Be Having That Crow Pot Pie Now (edited title)
TigerJ replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've said before Lamar Jackson is the perfect QB for Greg Roman's offensive scheme, and Greg Roman is the perfect offensive coordinator for Lamar Jackson. I suspect it would be hard for Lamar Jackson to duplicate his success with a different coordinator and a different system. I'm almost sure he would struggle adapting to Daboll's system. It's questionable whether or not Daboll would be able to adapt his scheme to accommodate Jackson. If we really want Lamar Jackson, however, we could draft him next spring. He's a draft eligible cornerback for Nebraska and he's actually about the same size as the QB. He's pretty good too. -
bills/broncos 36.5 points total for the game

Currently the weather looks decent for the game. Cool temps, but above freezing with partly cloudy conditions. -
Can the Detractors Now Admit Allen's Growth?
TigerJ replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, I am not among the Josh Allen haters, but the game today was one he needed to have. Not just statistically, but he needed to make some big plays, something that just hadn't happened to this point of the season. He has cut down greatly on mistakes, playing virtually mistake free today, but the first touchdown pass to Brown was the cherry on the sundae. -
3-3 over next six games and we make playoffs
TigerJ replied to Watkins90's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Best case scenario-the Bills could win four. It'll be tough to beat NE in New England, and the Ravens are awfully tough right now. I think the Bills should beat the Jets, They can probably beat the Broncos and Steelers. Dallas is a big question mark. Dallas is not a bad team but they have been pretty disappointing this season and I wouldn't just write off the Dallas game as a loss. -
2020 Draft Position and Potential Targets
TigerJ replied to STL-Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Draft Tek is a fairly astute evaluator of the relative value of draft prospects. They have Buffalo taking CeeDee Lamb (WR) at #20. I'd be fine with that. Other players going in the 20-28 range I think would be decent picks, depending on where Buffalo ends up picking include: Tee Higgins (WR), Kristian Fulton (CB), CJ Henderson (CB), Jalen Raegor (WR), Trevon Diggs (CB), and Curtis Weaver (EDGE). -
Is Wallace the best option for CB2?
TigerJ replied to UConn James's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Bills know they have to address CB in the upcoming off season, but it looks lie they are going to muddle through the rest of the season with Wallace starting. -
Anyone else think Bills will dominate on Sunday?
TigerJ replied to ShakAttack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think a one sided victory is possible. There are multiple factors in Buffalo's favor. The wild card is Ryan Fitzpatrick. He can be awful, or he can be really good. If he's really good, the game will be close. -
Add everything up and it seems as if the Bills should err on the side of caution on this one.
-
Shaq's snap count will go up. I think Darryl Johnson will get some, though he's been used more on the left side thus far. Shaq has been pretty effective this year. I don't think Buffalo's defensive line play will slip with Hughes' absence.

Is there a role for Tyler Kroft on the Bills?
TigerJ replied to Phil The Thrill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kroft is a pretty well rounded TE. That means he can block and he can catch the ball. He's not the blocker that Lee Smith is supposed to be, but then Lee Smith has had a ton of penalties. In the near term, I would probably give Kroft some of the reps that Lee Smith has been getting to see if he can block well enough AND cut down some on the penalties Buffalo has been giving up with Smith. Long term, I don't see any particular reason to keep him longer than his contract creates an uncomfortable dead cap burden. -
Browns' Morgan Burnett believed to have torn Achilles
TigerJ replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ouch. The Achilles rupture is about as bad an injury as a player can have. Players tear their ACL these days and routinely come back after 9 months to a year. They may be less effective for a while, but most eventually recover completely. I'll be surprised if Burnett plays next year, and as a DB, he may never be as effective as he needs to be. -
I watched part of the game, but missed Garrett's assault, so I won't comment on the league's response. From the Bills' perspective, it could not have turned out better. The Browns beat the Steelers, handicapping their efforts to compete for a wild card berth. Meanwhile, the Browns, who were seeming to turn their season around and maybe mount their own push for a wild card position, will find that effort damaged by a lengthy suspension of Myles Garrett, whose pass rushing prowess may be the single most important factor in the success of their defense. Pouncey is not as important for the Steelers offensive line, but with a young QB, losing him for a few games doesn't help. I wouldn't be surprised if the Garrett suspension costs Cleveland 2 or 3 games, and Pouncey's might cost Pittsburgh a game.
